We pick up where we left off with bringing a 23-year old, WOEFULLY neglected Honda shadow back into the light of day, and P/O Squid-Boi learns just how deep the rabbit hole can go when buying a derelict motorcycle with little to NO disclosure from the previous owner.
The real question is, will it run, or will it splatter itself all over the shop?

full update here....i still have to do the "final tweaks" to get the idle a little smoother, but i have to do the airbox mods and have that in place first (you NEVER set idle mixture without the COMPLETE intake assembly installed!)...as it is, considering it was running off of 1 year old weed-eater gas( notice the green in the bottle??), this came out pretty good after i gave it a " talking to"....lol

"Never give up, never surrender!" That's why I do my own brakes. I've done the front forks on my Vulcan 900 (may she rest in peace, and no, not because of the forks), I do my own oil changes on EVERYTHING I have. And, I'm thinking of doing the oil pump belt on my '21 Silverado 3.0 Duramax (I don't have the $2K to pay someone, and it doesn't look that terrible, I've done timing gears/chains/belts on Chevy's and Toyota's, so, I think I can do this). My only problem... I don't have a garage. Ah well, it has to be done... or else. lol

@@ThePeavey23 hands down the 1700.... Not as many worries about the lifters smearing the cams (the 1600 had a stupid high 1.9-1 rocker ratio, and worked the hell out of the lifters), plus better brakes on the front, and better hand controls.....rear fender had taillight molded in as well, for a cleaner look.....look up "giving the roadie legs" for regearing options.....mine cruises comfortably at 80-85 with +1 on the front pulley, and -2 on the rear with the stock belt

Not looking forward to it this winter. By the way trying to get away from the OEM coils do you have any recommendation for upgrade from stock?
@JoeTheMountainJedi
@JoeTheMountainJedi 26 күн бұрын
well, what kind of "fix" do you need to do that requires removal??.......as far as the coils go, the stock ones actually are VERY reliable on these, and honestly, i cant recall seeing one that legit failed, WITHOUT outside influence ( crash/kludge work/fire)....the length of the boots can be a pain, but keep em greased with dielectric grease, and you shouldnt have much issue with them sticking..... if you have rattling cam chains, replacing the tensioners WONT fix it.....the chains themselves stretch a LOT, and the tensioners max out on their travel.....several guys have had good results with tensioner "extenders" but id be leery of them unless they were either pinned, or welded in place

Got a question for you, I know there are variables to consider. What would you recommend for a gl1500 goldwing for jet sizes. It's got stock intake but has a free flow( straight) exhaust?

@@bigb2956 that's gonna be a quirky one, due to how the GL carbs are more "car like" than typical bike carbs..... Keep with the stock pilot jets, but I'd go up 1 step on the mains, AND shim the needles up .020-.030" as a starting point (a #4 machine screw flat washer usually measures out .025-.030" thick, and they fit pretty well).....keep in mind, this is a STARTING point....you may need to go into it more than once ....tune the main jet first for plug color, and how the bike pulls at WOT, and then work the needle height.... Good luck brother!!

I only have one question? What walks down stairs, alone or in pairs and makes a slinkity sound? 🤔 Thanks a lot for that earworm. 😱🤯 I know what I'll be hearing all night while trying to sleep. 😢
