Disasters are a part of life. How you react and deal with troubles measures the type of man you are. From what I can see you are up to the challenge. Anyone who can run an entire farming operation single handedly the way you and your wife do tells me you are cut from tough stock. God bless you are your family.

I am so sorry to see this and my heart goes out to you. As a former farmer I know how devastating this is and it is very heartbreaking. You’re right, you would never want a home or a human life or loose animals. For every negative there is a positive. We just have to mentally put ourselves in that mode to look for. God Bless you and your family. God will watch over you and your family

So very sorry for your loss of the hay. Thank God the responsible party for the fire stood tall. That doesn't often happen these days. That's a really nice section of fence you built. I'm sure your grandad is proud. Know you are in my prayers and I hope the rest of your year goes much better.

So sorry to see and hear this news. Your hours of work and prep. But there will be a bright side. My first thought is all the nutrients the soil will get from the fire. Every year on the Canadian prairies the farmer rotate which pastures get the fire treatment. Your next crop may just surprise you how beautiful it will be. Lovely fence too. Hang in there, your Great Grandmother has very wise words.

OMG Tyler, what a terrible disaster with the fire. Thankful that the hay will be replaced but we can’t “fix” the emotional damage, nor the extra work this causes for the winter feeding. On the bright side, maybe you will learn something from feeding the round bales that will be even better than your original plan. Your fence looks fantastic…but…welding in that heat must have been so very uncomfortable…no matter how early you started!! The cattle are looking great and I did not see a swarm of flies on their backs. Praying for a better week (that should be easy) and some emotional healing. Thank you for sharing the good, the bad, and the plain old ugly life of the one man farming show. It takes courage to live thru it let alone having to film and then watch it all over again as you edit. Thank you and by the way to the man upstairs…Tyler is pretty darn strong, he really doesn’t need anymore challenges to deal with!

Tyler first your new fence is beautiful and I’m sure your grandfather is proud of you. When your daughter is your age she will look at that fence with eyes filled with pride. In her mind she will think my DADDY made this fence and she will smile. As far as the fire goes, I’m so very sorry this happened to you. I know you worked extremely hard to provide for your family and farm, but I’m ever so grateful that YOU were not hurt in this fire or the fire did not start when the hay was in your barn and took that as well. I’m very glad that someone is going to take care of your loss financially for the hay. I know that does not pay for your hard work but remember this! You will plant again and your hay will grow! Thankfully there is another day! God bless you. My prayers are with you.

Start thinking ahead for cheap feed. We had to silage chop combined corn chaff. To be able to fill my cows bellies , with rotational grazing. Maybe you can get it round baled up or chopped. Instead of 150bu corn. We got 20 bu\ac, that year. I cried myself to slèep and ever time i fed animals. Not knowing how to go on. Maybe plant some oats or wheat and bale or graze that

I know this fire was over a year ago, but it still made me sad. Losing what you did has gotta be tough !! I know how I would have reacted - devastated, no doubt !! Anyway, you seem to have come from pretty rough stock and if you're like me, hold on to your beliefs and pray that life will get better and trust in Him !! As a strong and devout Christian man, I had to leave my birthplace in Africa and emigrate to America as a family of four !! It wasn't easy and I thank God that He led us here !! Thank you and your family for the opportunity to share in your life through the wonders of KZbin and the Internet !! Have a great weekend, as we get ready to celebrate what Easter means to us Christians !!

I can empathise Tyler. Had a shocking bushfire run through back in 2017. Very hard to be positive, my thoughts were always that I lost pasture and hay, but no animals. So similar to yourself, but I am only a small farm. You’re spot on, hay can be replaced in tangible form, but the effort that goes into it can’t be underestimated. All the best

Interesting difference in geography. Up here, we use oil field drill stem and sucker rod for fencing. However, because the ground freezes, deep, we do not weld the sucker rod to the posts but use a clip. This allows the rod to slide when posts move due to ground shifting. Otherwise, welds will break or rods will warp. Crazy extremes!
