Beautiful guitar congratulations. As you’ve said you made this for yourself initially so was there a particular choice with Cedar/Rose for your own playing style or was it experimental. Does the Cedar lend itself to fingerstyle playing over the traditional spruce/maple archtops? Sorry for all questions this late on in the post
@RancourtGuitars357 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words and regards! The first reason I chose to go with that recipe, was to bring from that recipe, more of a classical guitar voice out of the normally narrower and very focused sound of an Archtop. Which is the main reason why 90% of all the archtops I make have a Red cedar Top actually. It retains a great clarity while expanding the response in the lower human voice frequency range part. Deeper, mellower, and yes more sutable for a fingerstyle approach in my opinion. My dad's classical guitar is the reason and inspiration for my choice to move forward focusing on other choices than the standard Spruce/Maple archtop recipe. I Hope this answer's your question. Best regards from Canada. Guillaume Rancourt

Terrific, the new standard for recording an acoustic archtop guitar. Great sound, great player.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's definitely very representative. I love the setup and the place too. FYI, that archtop has a Cedar Top & John Pearse phosphore bronze Acoustic Strings on it. It's the way I mostly setup and build more than 70% of the guitars I make.

Wow. That's really warm and full while also being very clear and articulate. Congratulations. I'll start saving now I guess. Are 22 Frets and a Cutaway Custom options?

If I ever decide to spend more than 15K on an acoustic guitar I know what I'm buying.
@RancourtGuitars3573 жыл бұрын
Kurt! Thank you so much for that comment, it is very kind of you to say. I'm glad it resonates with you and that you hear something familiar that hits home. I know this one is on the higher end of the spectrum, the Madagascar Rosewood Back and Sides Makes for most of the extra cost but if you look up on my youtube channel and website, www.rancourtguitars.com, the base models of this perticular Concerto 15 Model with as good acoustic sounds as this one starts at about 7000$. Woods are different but all my guitars are made with the same technics and so even my less expensive models sound as good as this one acoustically. Witch that said of course, there are differences in the sound texture itself depending on the top and back woods chosen, neck woods and all but overall, very similar results could be acheived back using Walnut, Mahogany and Red Cedar for example. Hope you and yours are well. Best regards, Guillaume,

@@RancourtGuitars357 I hope you're 100% aware that my comment was respectful. We buy stupid cars for 30K without even thinking about it and they're worth like 5K in 5 years. These guitars look and sound like they're worth the price of admission and, I'm sure, unlike cars, they'll hold or even gain value over time. I have a mental block on buying stuff that I have to worry about so it's hard one for me, there. Even a 7K "thing" leaning up against my couch is just a bit too stressful in a house with kids. But my ears are burning with envy at the incredible sonic warmth and timbre of this instrument. And, looks nice, to boot. You clearly know how to build incredible instruments! Can you recommend something a below your tier that you like that's in the 2-4K range? Thanks for a nice reply!

PS: I checked reverb and e-bay for cheaper models and got skunked. The only one on Reverb is a Madagascar Rosewood 15'' Concerto Signature 2020 for 17.2K
@RancourtGuitars3573 жыл бұрын
@@kurtnoble5306 No offense taken my friend. I only make custom orders, so there only ever was 2 guitars that I know of that came back on the second hand market, all the other archtops are still with original owners. About the guitar on Reverb, it is actually the one you hear in this video, and it's one I made for myself last year that I decided to part from. The price range for a custom acoustic archtop I make is from 5k to 35k right now. All have the same quality of building and technics, but very rare woods, custom esthetic details and inlays, finish and specs makes for most of the price difference. With that said, I'm currently making 15 custom commissioned instruments for owners, and so for the past 10 years, I haven't had any chances to make stock instruments available. I'm so not sure if it will be happening in the coming years since I only have more work as time goes but I'm still taking in orders for now on a waiting list. Best regards, G.

@@RancourtGuitars357 Amazing. Well, some lucky person is going to get a chance to own that thing and will cherish it. The tone is absolutely stunning. I've been yearning for an acoustic with the archtop tonality and that guitar has the tone from the heavens. If only you could clone yourself and scale the business somehow. That's the dilemma of someone so skilled. Alas! There's only ONE of you! = )
