Haha cool, I didn't get to unbox mine from the Randall packaging. Mine was the display model from Namm2016, it was the only way I could get it in the UK at the time but the shipper decided to unbox it, rebox it as two separate packages (the foot switch and the head) and damage the amp in shipping which was nice of them.

Not saying i like the KH103 better because i own it but I do like it better in this situation. It has an enormous amount of character and it really shows. In the mix it out cuts the boogie but the boogie does fill in some of the randalls short comings. Live my other guitarist plays an ENGL savage and the Randalls signal even out cuts that amplifier.

100% agree. The Randall is a bit noisier than the Boogie, but it’s easily tamed with a noise gate. The Boogie has more of that weird low mid thing going on that makes the amp saggy. The Randall has a natural EQ where the mids are super tame. I think it’s great for Metal and that’s about it…it’s kinda what it’s made for anyway.

Both sound pretty good. I like the Randall better though. Has the cool Factor to it. In your opinion, do you need an OD pedal for leads, or is channel 3 driven enough for it? Thanks.

Channel 3 with the Boost is plenty. The only pedal that it takes well, besides a wah pedal, is a Klon KTR clean boost.

@@charlesrocks in which situation you want to use a clean boost with the kh103 ? (actually i don't own any clean boost so i do not really know what it does)

Interesting because They used marshalls for ride the lightning. The JP-2C isn't a good marshall clone IMO (I do own one). although I think a better tone can be had from the JP-2C for this song.....I think the Randall sounded better.....BUT... I would try the JP-2C again and get rid of the bass and mids on the dials.....boost the bass on the EQ and flip the "Shread" switch to "on"....I would imagine it would be a world of difference.
