This is more of a play through than a review, but make no mistake, this is the best sounding amp I’ve ever heard for heavy metal.

Even compared to the JP-2C?
@charlesrocks5 жыл бұрын
Metlupass2 I think so. The JP2C takes a bit of messing around to get a decent tone and even then you’re always left wondering if it could be better. The KH103 just hits you with a monster tone from the get go. It’s really hard to get a bad sound out of the amp...you really have to work (or be stupid as hell) to get a bad sound out of it.

I love video reviews from "regular dudes" rather than those from the bigger channels that often turn out to be little more than ads in disguise. The regular dude, in this case, is quite an accomplished metal guitarist, who magically switches from being right-handed to left-handed in the blink of an eye. This particular amp isn't within my budget, but it sounds awesome! Also props for posting this video on my 60th birthday! 😁

Nice Vid. It would be cool if you did another video where you explain some of your settings that you like to use, and what you feel each channel is best for. Also, I would love to hear it through some of your other guitars. I bet it screams through a single coil. Anyway, any video about the KH103 has my viewership, I agree it is killer sounding and so frickin' versatile.

Hey there! Great video and great tone! Just wondering if you could share which mics/interface etc you used to record this amp. I've been eyeballing one of these amps for a couple of years and, well, I think your vid has swayed me into going ahead and buy one.
@charlesrocks4 жыл бұрын
Dude. I heard these amps are no longer being produced. So, hopefully you can still find them. Overall, the KH103 is criminally underrated. For this video, I'm using a Royer 121 and Sennheiser 609e into an old UAD Apollo 1st Gen interface. I eq'd the guitar tracks for the song, but the raw tracks are exactly what you're hearing when I'm just noodling around on those Metallica riffs. I own a Mesa JP-2C and I'm selling it because this amp gives me everything I want/need.

@charlesrocks4 жыл бұрын
I have both the 667 and the KH103 and I prefer the KH103 as it's perfectly honed for that Metallica tone. It's right on the money. The 667 has a nice mid-range crunch that rolls off around 12khz and it's super versatile if you need it to be. It's a tweaker for sure though. You can spend hours and hours and hours just getting different tones. It's the perfect amp if you play in a variety band.

Freaking awesome video! I heard it with my hifi headphones and got completely smashed! I ended up with tinnitus! Hahaha!!! Thanks for sharing... A silly question, in the crunch/lead channel, can you get a powerful palm muting? I mean, full, spongy, clear, something like the black album riffs and solos? Thank you! My best wishes for you and your beloved ones. Great job on the donation activities of yours!

I love them both! I am a big fan of the JP2C. You can get a lot of tones out of the JP2C including all of the Metallica tones. Plus, it's American made and it comes with a 5 year warranty. I think the KH103 is just straight up Metallica though. No tweaking. No fucking around. Just straight up METALLICA! If you like the Metallica sound, then this is the amp for you!
