May I ask what guitar that is? Was that a Washburn Dime after he went back to Dean?
@Padreblue112 жыл бұрын
It’s a Washburn Funky Munky Whitebolt. Made in 2006 in Indonesia. 50 made in this color. Basically a Dime-3 spec import they made after his passing. Way better than the 333 models

I’ve been on the lookout for one of the newer Randall RG heads after getting a 1x12 Randall RG80 combo as my first “real” amplifier after having owned a Dean M10 practice amp until I got my 1st job. One thing that I like about the newer Randall RGs is that I can definitely tell that there’s a lot more gain on tap with the newer Randall heads (from what I understand the 1st Gain channel is supposed to be based off the original Randall RGs from the 80’s but I’ve never played through an actual Randall RG100ES so I wouldn’t know tbh), and if you’ve got the right pickups in your guitar you could plug straight into your amp with the newer Randall RG amp heads and get some sick chugs without the need to boost your amplifier at all. My favorite thing about the newer Randall amps though is that if you wanted to boost your amplifier and use pickups that aren’t wound as hot or have a much lower output than your typical Duncan Distortion or EMG 81, you have bass boost and mid scoop buttons that will allow you to shape the tone of the amp so that you don’t lose any low end punch or make your amp sound really wooly and for lack of a better term (classic rock-esque) when using a boost pedal.

Too many cashed up dimebag fans on Facebook pushing the price up on themselves .I’ve got the xp series and I love it, but I recently got my self an old crate gt200 stereo chorus head . It’s got the option of solid state or valve pre amp. I highly recommend one.
@dq78602 жыл бұрын
The GT200 is a gem, pretty sure the solid state side is based on the VH-140C/GX-130C preamp, not sure what the tube side is based on though, may be it's own thing.
@dq78602 жыл бұрын
If you can find one there's also the option of the Dime D100 that can nail the Dime tone relatively instantaneously, even if that amp is not that favoured by the public eye.
@Padreblue112 жыл бұрын
The D100 is just a Chinese 100es with an extra effects loop, and a hair more gain and bass according to Gary Sunda. I’ve had two and they’re good, I just preferred my 100es each time
@dq78602 жыл бұрын
@@Padreblue11 They're pretty decent, my main issue with them is that the boost has the same issue as the RG100ES, cutting the volume.

The entire "DIME TONE" enigma is confusing at best and it does suck that grady doesnt share dimes actual settings for all of his gear he used. You know how many people would kill for authentic pq3/pq4 settings for the different albums. Cfh sounds more boosted mids... vdp sounds more scooped mids.
@guntherachterhof48762 жыл бұрын
That's true, but also the exact settings that worked for Darrell might not sound the same for someone else's hands. Who knows.
@zipchtkdn78042 жыл бұрын
I can't remember if he said in a video that he set EQ to add more mids back or the pq3 to add more mids tighten tone up...?
@shmokeyamomked94312 жыл бұрын
People say the tone is all in the hands. Thats a crock of shit. Style is in the hands..... grady lies all the time about the settings. Ive literally heard him say all kinds of shit that conflicts itself. He does it on purpose its dimes wishes not to share them... as were eddie van halens wishes not to share his secrets/settings(thats where dime got it).... to be exact actually.
@shmokeyamomked94312 жыл бұрын
I own the entire rack that has to do with his tone. I own rg80es rg100es century 170ii... i play from a vintage jaguar cab with all original speakers... i got the blue mxr sixband from the 70s... i use the dean ml usa slime to which i had them custom color for me so it actually looks like the washburn colors not that faded bullshit they try to use... i got a dimetime in the neck and a bill lawrence patent pending l500 chrome casing raised thick blade one.... trust me tone aint all in the hands its like 10% of it. Also ive read literally everything grady ever put out about dimes tone. And honestly it was all bullshit. U know why? I found pictures of dimes actual damageplan rig and he was using 2 pq4s ... in the picture somebody had changed the settings on thr pq4 on the bottom to match the top... but what they didnt do was erase the greese pen marks where the settings for pantera go on the second one... i.e. walk because damageplan played it a lot. So i know the actual pq4 settings grady used for vdp atleast.
