My God, it has been 10 years?!? I still remember like it was yesterday... album of the year was being given out. Alicia Keys finished up saying the nominees, including Taylor Swift's Red. A reaction camera was fixed on each of the artists nominated. As soon as Keys said "Rrrr" Swift's crew started to stand, then the three best words of the night came out of Alicia's mouth: "Rrrrandom Access Memories!" The look of disappointment on Swift's producers is something I will always remember and cherish. Those old f**ks' became so salty and seem to care about the winner of the Grammy. I remember there being like a limited podcast series coming up to the release of RAM. There was one where Giorgio Moroder talked about walking into the studio to record his lines for the song, it was just him and the recording engineer and he saw three microphones. One was from the 70s one was from the 80s and one was a modern microphone. He asked why he was recording the different parts of the song into different microphones and the recording engineer said that that's what Daft Punk wanted. Giorgio asked if anyone would notice and the recording engineer said "the listener probably won't but they (Daft Punk) will." I might be misremembering this but it's something that's stuck with me about the album.

My dad is a hobbyist musician and composer. Pretty good one at that. He likes old school jazz, 70s pop, some Latin music, and very little else. He gets pretty gate-keepy and serious about things, and that makes it hard to connect with him on a musical level sometimes. (I typically enjoy the stuff that he likes, but he hardly ever steps out of his comfort zone when it comes to music) Once, I was explaining to him the many reasons why Daft Punk is my favorite artist of all time. He had his speakers set up, and so I played Touch while we quietly listened together. He cried, and cried softly. It was one of the most beautiful and tender moments that I’ve ever experienced with my dad, and I’m so grateful for it. I cherished EVERY SINGLE track. I remember not being as enamoured with the ballads such as Within or Beyond but I soon grew to love them and their places on the album. Each production choice, from the way the acoustic drums are processed to the insane effects on the synthesisers, is immaculately executed to create a unique and holistic sound that never wears itself out throughout the album. I also love the diversity of tracks and how Daft Punk manages to keep the same DNA within each one. Album so good, songs so identifiable (as you said) that i now have the album script of fragments of time tattood on my right inner forearm. That song, and indeed the entire album encapsulates what I believe music to be. Creating memories and melodies that we can play back forever within our minds until we pass. Absolutely beatiful piece of artistry and a very fitting farewell. The perfect song is framed with silence...

Beyond, Fragment of Time & Motherboard are for me underrated & Instant Crush is a 10/10 track

I remember hearing a review of RAM by an older musician, and it was so interesting to hear him pick apart the songs and talk about the accompanying artists different styles. Honestly I think the reason it sounds so clean was because of how many other people were involved in this and all of the real instrumentation they used instead of sticking to more synthetic beats like they typically did in their earlier albums. 10 Years later still amazing and one of my favorite albums of all time

Ram being a 8/10 might be fantano’s worst take. Shit is easily a 10/10

after hearing get lucky on the radio constantly from 2013-15, I remember listening to the album in full for the first time around summer 2019, I was just by myself late at night but it didn't like "hit me" or absorb into my brain, later in 2020 though I really fell in love with their "journey" on the record. And I just love the phrase "featuring The Daft Punk" because it is like nothing, it sounds like a magazine writer just being stupid.

Man 10 years. My feelings on daft punk have changed so much over those 10 years. I used to be a very casual listener, really only liking instant crush and get lucky of this record. but as the years have gone by and I've matured more in my tastes, I find myself going back to this album more and more. Starting actually from a video where giorgio by moroder was put to a clip of the regular show, I had to find out what song that was, and that's what lead my on my musical journey to what I feel confident in saying is my favorite album, not just by daft punk, but really of all time. Random access memories was such an amazing album to end on and I'm glad daft punk got to end on such a high note. Not all artists do.
