2:30 For those curious, that's actually a bedroll, not a tire. A lot of the time, soldiers in professional armies during the early 18th century and onwards up until the mid-late 19th century didn't have the space in their issued rucksacks to store their bedrolls while on march, and would instead tie them together and wear them like a sash so they didn't have to carry them with their arms. This was mostly seen on the French troops of the 18th century. However, the British, Prussian, and Russian armies were shown to use that concept to some extent as well.

For those wondering along around 2:35, the tire around the soldier is actually a rolled up blanket. It was common for soldiers and militia to wear it like that in the 1800s. Soldiers usually wouldn’t carry all their camp equipment into battle, but many would bring their blankets and could easily tie it around themselves with a bit of twine.

Just wanted to say a little thank you🙏. Your captioned videos inspired me years ago & allowed me to comfortably transition from informational tips & tricks videos, to making funny videos. Even though I don't do YT anymore, it was a massive help to my channel & my life at the time. I was very basic, but still burned myself out after a while trying to make 10+min captioned videos every couple days though😅. I can't imagine how long it takes at the level of your captions. This old padawan wouldn't have gotten as far as I did without your inspiration & lessons, you're a master, thank you.

6:00 The speshal units of the British empire, bobbing the heads in synchrony like the elite and well trained soldiers they are. Also voice chat in any video game that's intended to be taken seriously will ALWAYS backfire in the most glorious fashion and Holdfast: Nations demonstrates this perfectly xD

2:28 for anyone wondering, that "tire" Womble is referring to is actually just a rolled-up blanket. Most armies would usually wrap this around their backpacks, if they had any. In this case, the guy is playing as a Prussian Militiaman which are Soldiers raised during wartime to bolster the numbers of the Professional Army which may result in budget cuts such as cheaper equipment or not supplying the full uniform at all.

That "tire" is a bedroll. Basically a thick blanket that a soldier slept on the ground with. They carried it by rolling it up and wrapped around themselves, tying the ends of the roll together.
