Interestingly enough, Shuffle in the "universal randomizer" takes the total for each stat- let's say a pokemon has 50 atk, 60 def, 70 spa, 80 spd, 90 speed, 100 hp, and rearranges those numbers. So there will still be a stat with 50, one with 60, etc, but WHICH stat has each number is randomized. Randomizing stats is when the base stat total is kept the same, but the points are completely redistributed, so that same mon might now have 13 attack, 89 def, etc. I guess different randomizer coders use different terms! Cool thing to learn today.

nuzlocke runs are fun if you use the hardcore ruleset. Basically, you're level limited to the next gym leader's highest/lowest level pokemon (depending on house rules), or the first member of the elite four if all the gyms are done. It prevents you from grinding too much, since over-leveling a pokemon means it is unusable until the level cap goes up. Also, after the talk of shinies, I think I had a shiny Meganium in Crystal back in the day. I sadly can't be sure because I didn't know what a shiny was back then, and the battery on my cartridge died long ago (so the save file is gone). I seem to remember having a sparkle animation when I threw it out, but I'm not sure. Also, the color scheme is similar enough in gen 2, that I wouldn't have noticed anything off from the sprite alone (again this was a long time ago, I was young).

Remove all storyline if necessary, but every single NPC besides Gym Leaders and Elite Four in the game becomes a trainer with 6 mons spinning fast. Maybe not Nurse Joys but anything else is fine. Also defeating the Gym doesn't deactivate the undefeated trainers, and maybe exiting a room means all trainers (NPCs) in that room reset. Oh! Also all trainers have full restores for maximum pain.

In case you still haven't found it, they're using the Universal Pokemon Randomizer. The settings (like max vision and spinner hell) at the start are all part of the SpeedChoice ROM, but the randomization's all done in UPR.

I wish they told more about the randomization they did. Like, this apparently randomized the moves. Did it randomize their stats? Their compatibility? what's the deal with the time? They need to say.

Stats: In this randomizer they did pokemon stats and move power are the same. Every pokemon can learn every move from hm and tm's. Idk what you mean with time
