For those in Manchester. On Granada( or number 3 as my Gran would say) Kick off Friday 6.30pm, Then Sunday afternoon at about 1.45pm. The day before (Sat), the Manchester Evening News Football Pink. Down the Newsagents for 6pm . The MEN van would pull up, throw the pinks out. We'd pick it up and take it in for the Newsagent...10p a copy...One for me and one for my Grandad.... Happy days.

Gerald was one of the primary ITV football commentators during the 1970s and early 1980s. He covered World Cup matches live for ITV in 1970, 1974, 1978 and 1982. He resigned from ITV in 1983 and moved to BBC Television. We will miss Gerald (born 1930 died 2021 aged 91).

Great upload. Think Willie Morgan’s comments on Tommy Docherty being “the worst manager there has ever been” in this episode were what led to legal proceedings between the pair.

The saves of the week section had the three games that were on the FA Cup 3rd Round edition of The Kick Off Match the previous Sunday and a typical weekend in the 70s/80s in the NW Friday 6:30 Kick Off on Granada as well as checking the Friday editions of the evening papers to see which players are playing, Saturday Lunchtime Football Focus with Bob Wilson on Grandstand then switch over to ITV for On The Ball with Brian Moore on World Of Sport then at 4:45 Final Score on Grandstand or Results Service on World Of Sport, then off to the newsagents to buy your 10p Pink Final and before bed Match Of The Day on BBC1, Sunday read about it all in the Sunday papers and then 2pm-2:30pm-3pm-3:30pm The Kick Off Match on Granada

Incredible quality. I keep looking for an episode of Granada Soccer Night from either the end of the 89/90 or 90/91 seasons, or the end of the calendar years 1990 or 1991. It featured a montage of either the season or the year, soundtracked by La Serenissima by DNA. Does this ring any bells?

Yes cracking show about 70s north west teams ,tv hasn't got that type of thing now ,ok abit on local channels but nothing to write home.about , all left to sky with live matches and BT, match of the day getting tired , in those days the free tv had sports night, midweek sports , football focus ,on the ball weekly preview programmes , consistent highlights of many local matches on itv plus 2 or 3 highlights on BBC every week., plus local news goals footage ,reports ,, in spite of what they say now there was a decent amount back then
