That's a really interesting sound, I can't tell if the dampening foam reduced the overall clackiness of the tealios switches or if the lube was a little overapplied. Good job regardless :)

So Frank, the switches sound a bit heavy on lube. I’d recommend to try films on zeal switches. Either TX .15mm or Deskeys. I’d also recommend trying the holee bandaid mod for your stabilizers to reduce rattle. And 63.5g is quite light when it’s linear curve. But I’d really recommend trying films on the switches.

Once you get used to a 60% it’s hard to go back. The extra space on your desk is great! And I find gaming to be more comfortable because I don’t move the keyboard as far so my elbows are closer.

How often do you miss or need the arrow keys? That's about the only thing that's keeping me from 60%. For my normal workflow I still tend to use the arrow keys, but I'm not sure if there's some other task or daily convenience where arrow keys come in handy that I'm forgetting or taking for granted.

I agree, for me 60-75% layout is top notch. I used to think how can people use those small keyboard layout until i get my hands on one of them, bought myself a Leopold 65% ( still i can't live without the arrow keys haha ) and i swear i can't even go back to TKL or Fullsize again.

I moved to oslo, Norway last year and I knew about mekanisk last month. I am in love with this build and keyboard. I have 3 gaming keyboards, but I couldn't resist and I bought the fjell case + Ultramarine switches + brass plate + pcb! I need to choose the keycaps (but I will wait a little, I spent a lot this month!)! Great work!

Just made my first custom mech... 60% white tofu (kbdfans) case + pcb Brass plate Gmk stabs (clipped/lubed) NovelKey Creams switches (lubed) I am using a generic gmk keycap set for now. I am waiting on my GMK Bushido keycaps, cable, and deskmat to complete it! :)

Hi frank, in your videos you show off you playing battlefield five and you’re really good so just a suggestion you could start a series or a second channel where you play battlefield 5 and maybe you could do challenges with different keyboards and mice. I actually think they sound fine, maybe a bit overlubed, but sound over a mic is not always accurate and it will be a bit better after breaking them in. Honestly, the line of when a switch is overlubed is pretty ambiguous.

Just so you know, RFP, you were the guy that got me into this expensive hobby. Now I'm typing on my custom 60% lubed gateron ink yellows w/ Everglide lubed stabs. Looking to lube some c3 tangerines and banana splits soon w/ GMK Pulse for another build. Also got someone to custom paint a Model D- to the same colors as my current Tai Hao Miami keycaps. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I really love these types of videos.

i have an aluminum gk61 build using kailh bronze swithces, lubed with krytox 205g0 with some keycaps from Alpherior keys, and a little dampening foam inside. Moost of the things that made it cost $230 were unnecessary, but I had the option to try them so I did and they do help with the overall experience.

@@tmc8921 Removing the foam allows slightly more ping for the keyboard and the switches would resonate within the plate a bit more. Without the foam dampening the sound, the keyboard would sound allot more alive and have its own characteristics.

a good tip i like to use for soldering is to put tape over the import parts like the chips and the USB plug as you don't wanna accidentally spill solder on them and break your pcb

just remember that these are “luxury keyboards” and a hobby on itself. pretty much every hobby has an expensive side. and just a tip, better wait, earn your own money and buy something nice, than a really bad 15 kb. a nice keyboard starts at 80 and *has* to be mechanical. membrane is no match. this keyboard here is like a porsche of keyboards, nice feel, nice look.

You should try lubed NK Creams in that build. The creams have a longish center pole that adds a bit more noise to the typing sound. Although it's more subtle than the sound of holy pandas. Get a carbon fiber plate too, as that adds even more refinement and a musical sound quality.

Beautiful keyboard, it is just so minimal and clean at the same time and the turquois tealios are just amazing, would suggest novelkey creams(lubed) tho but still a sexy keyboard. The plate's smooth aesthetics are sooooo clean, love it.

I think creams are good but pale in comparison with tealios, at least for a feeling experience. However, with acoustics, creams are a lock thockier.
