My last video was finished about a week before this episode came out, but I just waited until the night before to finally publish it. This video, on the other hand, is actually being finalized at 11:00 PM the night before episode 8 is supposed to come out. The disclaimer at the start of the video was recorded forty-five minutes ago. There have been a few videos in the past where I was really angry in an earlier version of the script before I later went back and changed it. This is the first video where I didn't really have time to rethink a lot of things. The section from 13:41-15:20 was the moment where my intrusive thoughts finally won. Also, I sure hope that episode 8 doesn't make a huge chunk of this video age poorly less than 24 hours after I published it, ha ha!

Man... That rant was pretty whack. I get the whole thing about "the show should've better established Stolas' inability to die from normal weaponry"... However, at the same time, I feel like "Stolas got hurt and it's a shock" wasn't really the intention of that line. It's pretty interpretive by nature, I'll grant you that, so here's how I see it. It's simply "oh fuck, yeah, that's right, Stolas can get hurt and die, and I totally just let that shit happen". The implications of Stolas' mortality (and if you wanna get symbolic, Stolas' emotional vulnerability) dawning on Blitzo, after generally seeing Stolas as an untouchable, unfeeling royal dickhead for so long. Could it have been clearer? Yeah probably. Is this all just a massive cope? You decide.

I think the rant was a little personal but here's my take on it. I understand where you are coming from but is it cool if we could look at it from Blitzos perspective. Blitz sees Stolas not as just a horny owl but like a god like owl (as seen in Blitzos trip in ep 6) and when people thing of God's they normally think of them as being untouchable beings. So when Blitzo came to the realization that Stolas was hurt, it shattered his world completely as now seeing Stolas (the god owl) in critical condition. This is just my take from your rant but feel free to ignore.

You know what the biggest problem, the show has too many serious episodes and not enough funny episodes. You got to remember the original intend for hell of a boss was for it to be the comedic show while hazbin hotel was the series show. I like it when a comedy can do deep complex storytelling but the comedy should always come first. If you just spread out the serious episodes an added more comedic episodes in the show will be fine.

Yeah, honestly I feel like Viv wanted to do more serious stuff after Hazbin got picked up and this turned into that, since she couldn't put HH out right away. Or, she got so impatient with HH's release that while working on this she turned it into something more serious as a way to tide herself over and feel catharsis for being unable to put out the serious show she ACTUALLY wanted to do from the get go. That's why I think HH will be fine despite the issues we're seeing in HB, but fingers crossed.

The IMP is located in the pride ring based on the fact that sinners can go to their office, and striker here 4:49 is still riding within the pride ring. But when he hops into that elevator in the mountains and jumps out of a well (now into the wrath ring). If you pause, there’s a sign next to the well that says “out of order”. Implying that this was once another door/access way to travel between rings. Which may bring up the question again about HOW exactly sinners aren’t able to travel between rings? If a sinner went with the path that striker took, would they end up in wrath? And if not what stops them? Idk, to much thinking heh

Another fun EWW for this series as always. To the discussion of this episode, unfortunately I only have one thing, so I cant help much making it go along XD When Blitz's says "he can get hurt?", I think the creators wanted us to remember back at Truth Seekers. Blitz puts Stolas in a pedestal in that episode, and views him like a superior being that cant be hurt or phased. Thats my analysis of that. So when that expectation is broken in this episode, you can feel the pain in his voice, of him realizing "I thought he was a god, nothing would hurt or phase him..." And then this whole argument falls apart when we remember that Viv did not show stolas being a god who cant be hurt by weapons for us to assume that like Blitz XP

The line is a moment of realization for Blitzø. 1: Keep in mind, Stolas, at the start, was treating the whole thing like a romantic rescue fantasy, exactly like he did in LooLoo Land. So because Stolas wasn't afraid, it didn't even cross Blitzø's mind that Stolas could be in legitimate danger. 2: A double meaning with emotions. I think this episode is decent but okay. I love Spring Broken and I love Verosika Mayday and her succubus demon crew to death. To be honest, I'm mixed on the "He can get hurt..?" line. It has issues that you perfectly pointed out but I do love Brandon's delivery of it. As for Striker, at first, I was put off by his behavior and a new voice, but after watching Sarcastic Chorus's video on him, I do agree with his take on Striker's character but I also miss how Striker was when he was introduced. I do agree that the show has severe issues when it comes to expectations. I LOVE that you pointed that out. Sometimes, I'm okay with it like how Stella is just a bitch but like this episode, I did expect the tone to be handled but there were just too many jokes when it should have been more serious. A lot of people don’t like the fact that the whole Ozzie’s situation was handled with off-screen texts. But I’m actually fine with it. The main problem I’ve had with this show was the fact that it acted like the whole drama at Ozzie’s never happened, and never resolved(I know that in the video he said that too many people have their expectations way too high with this show, but when the most drama filled storyline in the show was never resolved you do kind of get disappointed in one way or another). So the fact that the show just finally acknowledged that that happened, that the drama existed, and that it actually concluded, even if its through texts, is all I really needed.

Anther inconsistency (not exclusive to this episode) is the whole thing with angelic weaponry being the only thing that can kill Stolas. In the LooLoo land episode, there were imps who were trying to kill stolas with regular weapons, nothing special. This was why he needed to be body guarded. Obviously this wasn’t meant to build any sort of tension as it’s not the main focus, and he technically could’ve used the hitmen imps as an excuse to get closer to Blitzo, but it seems more like establishing what can and can’t kill Stolas was more of an afterthought for that episode.

Normal weapons can't do anythjng to him, and you can tell because he NEVER feels threatened for the whole episode, he just wanted at excuse for blitzo to be there. Now, this may be a controversial Topic or not and I’m just a crazy person. I truly believe Helluva boss is a show where you must take what is implied. Based on that one line from moxie about angelic weapons killing even Demon Royalty made it clear to me that Stolas was either immune to normal ammunition or had a crazy healing factor. And Even I knew that this show was meant to be episodic even if they all link together at some points. As for the angelic stuff, it would not surprise me if exterminators dropped weapons that people picked up off the streets and sold around. Again, I understand your point about using the fans to connect dots, but that is not a bad thing when KZbin is the only place you can find this show. They probably do not have the cash flow yet to bring in Editors and that’s okay. This show is definitely one that I will still watch because I am a fan, but I believe that fans make this show great. You make a lot of good points about blitzø’s reaction to stolas getting injured. But, remember when we first heard stolas being serious in loo loo land, he sung that song to octavia and blitzø wasn’t there at all. Plus, back in harvest moon festival, he only said that the blessed tipped rifle could KILL stolas, not injure him. I think that he chose those words deliberately because he knew stolas could be killed just not injured. This might be contradicted in an upcoming episode of helluva boss. But, this is just my viewpoint on the whole scene. Anyways, let me know if you agree with this and have a good day.

I was actually really surprised that Spring Broken is your favorite episode! Thought Ozzie's was your favorite since you called it a perfect episode aside from the one complaint. I actually liked Western Energy quite a bit as well, and while I do feel the B-plot dragged at some points I did think it was funny (heck, it actually made Loona more endearing to me after hating her in Seeing Stars). I'd say it's not as good as Ozzie's or Truth Seeokers, but it was a very fun episode. Also, as for the "He can get hurt?" like, yeah, I think that could have been conveyed better, but it didn't bother me too much because I saw it as Blitzo having Stolas on a pedestal and seeing him as capable of being killed in concept, but because Stolas didn't seem to take him being captured seriously in the call, Blitzo didn't think it was serious either. I do definitely agree about the Ozzie's texts as well. It would have been just fine to have them through texts if we saw Blitzo and Stolas writing them, heard a voice-over, saw all the nuance in their facial expressions as they struggle with what to say. That would have been a great way to have all that character development and nuance and not have it just take place off-screen. We'll know in a few hours if Episode 8 adds anything to it but I don't think it will.

Ozzie's was my favorite episode until I realized that it was just a solo episode and that the events of that night might as well have never happened. Even episode 8 won't fix the fact that these events were completely thrown out the window by episode 2 of the show's second season.
@RavenStarMedia
@RavenStarMedia Жыл бұрын
@@RandomGameCritic I totally get that about Ozzie's. Knowing now that it didn't directly lead into much kind of sours it. While there was _some_ change to their interactions in Seeing Stars, the problem was that _it wasn't enough_ given what happened. Okay, so Stolas doesn't call Blitzo "Blitzy". Their interactions in SS were how I'd respect them to interact if Blitzo just told Stolas he was being too flirty and Stolas relented. But for an argument where Bltizo accuses Stolas as seeing him as nothing more than a living sex toy, there needed to be a bigger sense of fallout to that.

This comment is addressing Sin #9, where Stella was so confident that she wasn't going to get hit by the bullet inspite of it almost getting her between the eyes. That brought up an interesting point in my head: let's say Striker did succeed in killing Stolas and Stella kept her end of the bargain and paid him for it... what's stopping Striker from also killing Stella? This episode highlights just how much he hates Hell's upper class, so what's stopping him from killing Stella after he kills Stolas?

One thing I did notice at the end of the petals is counting them. 3 petals fall. And if you put that in Blitzs love for Stolas they read as.. He loves me, He loves me not, He loves me. Maybe it's showing Blitzs true feelings for Stolas or I'm reading to much into it, or it could be the opposite order I put it in and the saying is "He loves me not, He loves me, He loves me not" I think it's the first one that I had cause it does show at the end that Blitz does somewhat care about Stolas.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees issues with the ‘He can get hurt?’ line. It doesn’t make sense for Blitz to say this after it was established that he was worried for Stolas’s safety at the beginning of the episode. Most fans say that it can be interpreted as Blitz not being aware of Stolas’s fragelity emotionally; that he thought he never cared for him, and whatever he might have said to him previously didn’t affect him at all, so this episode has finally opened up his eyes. I think that’s a very compelling aspect of this two characters but. Man. This really wasn’t the right execution for this to be addressed. 🥲

Yeah, your criticism here is pretty right on the money. I still love this show, but it definitely is dropping the ball and not developing in a way that's satisfying. Season 1 I still say is good despite what you say. Season 1 is definitely better than season 2 so far. I still think you're wrong about season 1, but when it comes to season 2 it definitely hasn't turned out how any of us had really hoped, and I think a lot of the hardcore fans are in denial about the issues at hand. They almost roll with whatever gets put out a little too easily. I'm not typically a harsh critic of something either, but I could never be such a die hard fan that everything is flawless no matter what. Viv has promised us about 2-3 more episodes this year if I'm not mistaken, and I hope after that they actually take a break and really rethink where they want the show to go and how they're going to get there, cause it's getting harder and harder to give it a pass just because its an indie project, especially when they keep getting big names attached and it's becoming more and more surface level indie bordering on mainstream. It almost feels like Viv wanted to do her serious show, but since that got picked up by a real studio and had to be made differently, she couldn't wait for it to be released and ended up turning her side project into a mashed up frankenstein of what she wanted to ACTUALLY do because like a lot of us, Viv has severe ADHD and is hyper fixated on her main project, even if something else that she's doing is a completely different plot/story. It's why I still have hope for HH, because that show's being professionally done with a studio to help along the way. And while Viv and the crew can do good writing, they lack the focus and consistency to make this what it SHOULD be.

And like you, I at first just wanted entertainment. Somewhere along the lines that changed, but I will definitely be lowering the expectations. Personally I really liked the “he can get hurt” line Blitz says, because it shows Blitz’s idea of Stolas change. in the episode truth seekers it’s established that Blitz sees Stolas as this all powerful being, so I think it makes sense that the idea of Stolas getting injured would come off as surprising to Blitz. So I feel like the revelation that Stolas could get hurt was not to be a big shocker to the audience but to establish how Blitz views Stolas. I think if Viv showed how Stolas reacts to getting injured by normal weapons it would have added to the impact of the line since it gives the audience a frame of reference. The line still has a lot of issues I’m not denying that but i still think it accomplishes a clear shift in Blitz’s and Stolas’s relationship, again specifically in how Blitz sees Stolas.

I think you're right about people's expectations. The writers just didn't live up to the what the viewers wanted for the show. It's a little unfair that the audience would get so mad at the creator, it's not like Viv can read our minds BUT when people give you criticism you still shouldn't respond the way that Vivzie did. Wait, I thought that they did explain stolas' role in hell? In the episode where they gave the backstory to stolas and blitz's first meeting. They explained that his role was going to be leading his own legions and using his grimoire to acquire knowledge from the stars. He essential was born with three jobs to birth a precautionary heir, gather knowledge from the stars and constellations, and lastly to pass on his knowledge to his legions and his daughter so that she could continue his work. There is a ton of inconsistencies in helluva boss though I see it. I think they just need help with organizing the information that they want to get out to and also with organizing their lore and plot points.

21:26-22:19 I feel like the way eps come out could be the cause of this too. I know that bc it’s indie it has to take time to come out, I’m not saying they should rush or hating on them bc animation is hard work/takes time especially when it’s indie. But at the same time when they set up so many plot lines + recurring villains that so many fans get invested in but the eps release so slowly (Or in ep 8’s case, delayed to a YEAR bc of copyright), you end up with fans who are so invested that they ended up relying on fanfics and stuff so they may end up being disappointed when the official eps come out. It also makes a situation where if people get disappointed with Strikers return for example, fans can say “Well it’s only the 4th ep of S2!” but at the same time while it technically is, Striker’s last appearance was like TWO YEARS AGO, so to some it feels like the eps should be more. But I’m not hating on Spindlehorse for this bc it’s not an offical tv series, but it is what it is I guess

Honestly, I can respect this. It brings up many good points and I can see the process as to why the points were made. I think we as fans tend to forget is that sometimes a show is just that, a show. It's a medium for entertainment. It all boils down to whether you have fun or not. Now I believe things would be made easier for the fans if the show was just more clear with what it wanted and what it provided with it's episodes. It seems like it's promising more then what's being shown and that creates a disconnect with everyone on some level. Now that's not saying a show has to be serious all the time but their are many episodes where things simply fall by the way side in a way that makes the whole story feel like an after thought. Some episode can be mindless slice-of-life entertainment and that's perfectly fine, but be clear that's the case so we as fans don't have unrealistic expectations. I think that's fair.

The reason i dont like the B plot is because of how shotty the A plot is. I would enjoy the doctor visit if the team used the time they gave themselves effectively. But no, they did everyone dirty with this episode. 1. I think you said you dont look at the social media, but Vizie and the team had teasers of Andrealphus for a while. Hyping him up and revealing his design. Then you get to the episode and hes seen for 2mins and is...incestousus. like, no lie, the week the ep dropped i saw 2 redesign videos, 3 alt personality posts, and more. And i don't blame them, 2. The ending scene goes hard, but ive seen videos bring up Octavia. Where was she? Why did Stolas text Blitz first and not his daughter? If him being kiddnapped was a big deal why is she with her mother? I mean she HEARD her mother put the hit on her dad, she was at the dinner table. But...at the same time...she also blamed Stolas for ruining the family with his affair. Weird...does she want him gone? 3. And speaking of, the texts. Sk many people dragged the off screen growth. Those text messages garnered a million hate-review views themselves. Im not saying i hate the text messages, but i didnt read them. If i wanted to play CLUE to find lore i would go to my fnaf corner.
