I actually really liked Nifty’s introduction. The contrasting tones that she is sending feels purposeful. She comes across as a highly unstable individual who can go from being a sweetheart to a psycho in a matter of seconds.

I think the "over designed" character design is more of an animation critique. I love their designs, but I can agree it's not practical for animation due to all the small details to keep track of, especially Husk's wings. So many details like that slows down animation and is extra work for animators.

Some of the characters like Charli, Vaggie and Niffty could stay the same with little changes to their design but since Hazbin has been picked up by a studio, they might be told that characters like alastor or husk that have a ton of features to their designs will have to be changed and I understand that because while they are both interesting charcter designs I can't imagine how long it takes to color them for every frame and make sure it stays in model. I know theres a lot of back and forth about the designs but for animation purposes and saving time/money I think for a professional studio result Hazbin is going to look very different.

Something I absolutely love about Angel Dust are his mannerisms. I mean I'm not talking about the sexual movements or anything but, It mostly has to do with how he fidgets and the movements that he does with his hands and his face. How he's constantly expressing himself by moving his eyebrows and how he runs his hand through his fluffy hair And even just the strange gestures that he does with his hands when he's talking. I just love the way he moves and the way that he fidgets.

I feel like those were decent uses. Oh, and Alastor's radio effects--the ones that don't kill your ears, but I guess they also get a pass because he seems to be the one making them?

I don't agree with the notion that the pilot was paced too quickly. It's a pilot. The point of a pilot episode isn’t necessarily to act as a normal episode, but rather to show off the premise of the show to production companies. So obviously the creators would want to introduce as many characters as possible.

Here's an interesting thought I had: A 'heaven' for sinners is a place where they can do whatever they want whenever they want, a place of anarchy. This suggests that Hell is a place of pure anarchy, no one is obliged to do anything for anyone but themselves. Of course, we see in Helluva Boss that there is some things that need to be kept in order, such as Stolas doing his 'duties' that require the use of his grimoire, but this can be stated as something that higher up demons need to do, this including Lucifer, Lilith, and other forms of demon royalty. Demon royalty doesn't seem to put down any laws in Hell, the only 'law' there seems to be is the yearly extermination which is beyond the hands of even the highest form of demon royalty. The only exception I find to this is when Charlie 'orders' Alastor to help with the hotel, but even then she says 'for as long as you desire.' This leads us to believe that Hell is a dystopian anarchy, yes people did bad things to get there but as we see in the Helluva Boss plot, you can be a perfectly good person, do one bad thing, and get sent to Hell anyways. This disregard for circumstance and reason is probably why Hell is so overpopulated to begin with. So, the way I see it, Hell is an anarchist world under the foot of Heaven where anyone can do anything for whatever reason. It's a morally grey world, no a purely evil world.

And therein lies the mythological issue. If you want to follow Christian lore, the best way to refer to an anarchist post death waiting zone is Purgatory. But because they wanted an excuse to be edgelords, they called it Hell. All it would have taken is for Hazbin to be set in Purgatory as a way to reform sinners before the worst were purged to actual Hell of fire and brimstone fame, then Helluva could stay in Hell accommodating the sinners that made it there. Instead we get bastardized mythos worse than what Disney did in Hercules. Imagine doing this to any other religion and afterlife mythos... but you can disrespect Christianity all you want because they "Turn the other cheek" and such.

I write stories as well and I take things from media and even my own life, but I make it my own to make it original and something that ALL people can enjoy, such as this. If this was purely based off of Christian religion, not everyone would enjoy it. But if it was original, it's almost in a grey area where anyone can without being offended or felt left out entirely. And that's why I love Hazbin and Helluva; it's original. Just my opinion

Fun fact: The voice lines they used for Nifty are just the audition samples the voice actor submitted for the part. She had recorded other things when she was actually chosen but they said her initial submission was better and so they just ended up using that. So that's most likely the reason why Husk actually interacted with both Angel and Alastor where as Nifty never really did which I also thought was kinda weird.

First, ALASTOR IS ACE!!!! THAT MADE ME SO HAPPY!!!! Second, with my adhd, the fast pacing kept the entire thing interesting the whole way through. At the end, I was a little confused, like "wait already?" I tend to listen to loud, fast music to drown out everything when I'm feeling understimulated and the episode gives me a very similar feeling. Of course, this is just my personal impression on the pacing. God knows my mom hates the music i compared it to for that exact reason.

This is just me and I know it ain’t gon be the same with a ton of people but I kind of lived for the fast pace and crowdedness of the pilot. I always need to be entertained and to have something happening and to focus on at all times and since this episode was jam packed I can rewatch it a ton of times and enjoy sheer immersion. But for everyone else’s sake, they should probably tone it down a tad.

THANK YOU! YES! I'm one of those people whose attention can be taken away very quickly. Especially when it comes to shows. It's a miracle if I can say I've actually watched a full series. I've lost count of how many times I've watched this show now. Not just rewatching, but the reaction videos of others as well. Instead of being slightly bored through the reactions and scrolling through facebook while half paying attention, my full focus was on the video. This pilot going so fast and constantly having things going on is honestly one of my favorite things about it. It's like its a show made by people, for people, with ADHD hahaha.

One sin that I personally interpreted as such was when Vaggie says she’s going to kill Angel and he makes it sound like she couldn’t kill him because they’re already dead (“where would I go to? Double hell?… you’re stuck with me!”), but earlier in the episode it’s made pretty clear demons CAN be killed (the very premise of the show is that the Hotel is to control overpopulation by rehabilitating demons and sending them to heaven instead of killing them). I really didn’t get that.

I think (and this is just a theory) that it's because he knows demons can't be killed without the use of an angelic weapon, and so he knows that she can't kill him and is just taunting her. Or else is seriously questioning whether an angelic weapon truly kills a demon, and if it's not used it only kinda kills them, if that makes sense?

One of the only things I don't like about the show is the character design, or more the body shapes. everyone has the same or a similar color pallete, what makes it difficult to tell where one character starts and the other one ends. which makes it weird to watch when everyone is on screen. So a bit of different body shapes or color palettes would be nice.

I disagree. It is quite easy to tell them apart. If you put their shadows side by side, their outline would be recognizable for each one without seeing any details. Neither their colours nor their design seems similar to me. Then again, that might be because I love art and every detail stands out to me clearly from the first try.

I dont think charlie is the main character, from a creators stand point a charactor like Angel Dust would be a much better candidate. Since he is relatively new to the redemption concept and he doesn't know much about overlords *besides Val* so he can ask most of the viewer questions and he has a pretty interesting backstory that makes him a very compelling character. While Charlie may be that happy "the world i live in is against me and my incredibly optimistic opinion" disney princess vibe, it is a very cliche main character type.
