Doesn't get any easier trying to compare yourself to the pro's. I mean I get it, the perspective of illustrating the gap between them and us mortals. But to me there's nothing worse than a horrible, moody day at the course. Course designer says it best at the end.

This video made me sad... You're normally so good at finding the positives in the course, the game, the chance to travel, meet people, don't lose that! Hope you enjoy a well deserved rest, make sure you get a chance to go play some courses that you really enjoy with some good people! If you fancy another Scotland trip you've got a standing invite at Pitreavie Golf Club in Dunfermline, you'll enjoy it for sure!

Dear Erik, Let me share something I learned my first year competing in tournaments. I'm a hard (9) handi and after this season of competing I've learned I have the skills to make consistently good golf swing but my mental game is poor. When I'm playing in (solo) tournements not (scrambles) I doubt my game without knowing it. I will let you take that for what it is, but you have the skills just stop letting your mental game get in the way. Swing free, have positive thoughts (the entire round) and go into tournaments not having a set score you want to shoot. Go into it with no expectations (not low) and watch your best game come out. Most of all remember have fun because just about everyone sucks at golf 😂🏌️⛳

As a 5 handicap as well I've def had those rounds where it feels like you cant catch a break. But I know I have the game to turn it around which keeps me positive. Recently had a round where I went +11 through 7 holes and still broke 80. I used to be super competitive but now I find that I literally dont care about score at all and usually crush beers the whole time. 😊 also a day on the course is always better than a day at work... but I suppose this is your work...
@jeremyl14175 жыл бұрын
Vincent Greenholt yeah well Erics swing looked quite out of sync in this video. Even if Eric had shown his strongest mental game on that day he would not have broke 90. The mental game is surely important but it is not everything as many people always try make it seem. It is a combination out of technique and the mind. Just my opinion though

@cmalc4 жыл бұрын
One of the truly GREAT things about golf is how it challenges your thoughts and your mood; you either become a better person or you give up golf, which is useful. It means those with over-inflated self opinions who can't face reality (not the nicest people) are filtered out. They just can't cope with it. Those who accept that the game is impossible but keep trying their best, without losing it, tend to be the memorably pleasant people you meet playing this game. There are some old golf cliches that are cliches for very good reason. They help you deal with a course that's getting the better of you. The best one is probably: "play one shot at a time" (an entirely separated event, all to itself). EAL did exactly this when he said he'd start ignoring his score. Also: "trust your swing" ; don't try to change it because your score is going badly. Also: "Golf is a GAME"; losing won't kill you. It'll make you stronger when you think back on where and why you lost shots, indicating what you need to work on at the range. It's a test, and really, your score isn't the result; how much you enjoyed being out there is the important factor (unless you're a pro !)
