My dearest friend Andrea Dayes died suddenly at work. She gave me SO much support when my daughter passed away 2 years earlier. Unbeknown to me and her friends she had made preparations for her funeral, one of which was that I sing this song the way Randy Crawford sang it. Wow what an honour. I sang it through tears, but with a determination that i live up to the faith Andrea had in me RIP my dearest friend. Miss you dearly

There are times when a song, the lyrics, the music, the musicians and the singer come together in a collaboration that is truly magical. This is one of those times. Randy Crawford really shines. Thanks to everyone involved in this magical moment, and thank you yak9900 for posting it.

Everything must change Nothing stays the same Everyone will change No one stays the same The young become the old Mysteries do unfold For that's the way of time Nothing and no one goes unchanged There are not many things in life You can be sure of... Except, rain comes from the clouds Sun light up the sky Hummingbirds do fly Winter turns to spring The wounded heart will heal But never much to soon But everything must change The young become the old Mysteries do unfold But that's the way that time Nothing & no one goes unchanged There are not many things in life You can be sure of... Except, rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky Hummingbirds do fly Rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky Hummingbirds do fly Rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky Hummingbirds do fly Rain comes from the clouds Sun lights up the sky Music makes me cry

Thats interesting to read because I was impressed as a kid when I heard the melancholy original on Quincy's 1974 LP, Body Heat, and many years later when I bought Randy's soulful LP version. A few months ago, I replayed Q's old CD and images of a funeral and celebration of life and life's passing flooded my mind, tho it was of no one in particular. The version by the songwriter Ighner on Q's Body Heat is just simply different, different era and recording technology Very evocative as is Randy's.

Really nice live version. I first heard this song covered by George Benson and mistakenly assumed he wrote it. I just found out it was covered earlier by Quincy Jones (although Benard Ighner wrote the tune I don't think I've heard his version). Googled Mr. Ighner and found out some really interesting stuff.
