It took me from when I was 14 until I was 56 to finally build myself one so it can happen.

Can't wait to see this buttoned up. My first car was a 1971 Dodge Charger (all green inside and out of course). I replaced so many parts in that vehicle, but it was a joy to work on and drive. I dreamed of owning something like a Daytona instead of the stock 318. Can't wait to see this finished.

I hate to disappoint but I will not be doing the finish paint on this project and after it leaves my hands it could be 3 to 4 months at the paint shop halfway across the country and then on to its owner. I may end up with some pictures at best.

Your headlight doors are so elegant, so much more so than the original, too.
@SteveMirabelli5 ай бұрын
Less effective though. Being inside the nose limits casting light to the edge of the road. But let's be serious. How much night driving do you think this car will see? Thanks.

You are so right about the Hellcat engine - it looks great and you really put the picture in a beautiful frame this week, Steve.

Looking amazing, Steve! Question for you though. Would it have been possible to wire the headlight doors to operate off the cars headlight switch using a diode system like that in a 1967 Camaro RS?
@SteveMirabelli5 ай бұрын
The problem is with the automatic system for the lights. The first time I approached this car with the key fob the lights came on and flashed I guess connected with a security feature. I did not want the doors actuating every time this happened. The lights are not the simple on/ off high low beam set up like older cars.

Stellar as per usual. All the small details take up serious time. Happy to be closing in to the end of this? Or melancholy feelings?
@SteveMirabelli5 ай бұрын
Probably never gonna get to built another one like this because it's an expensive build so melancholy is a pretty good description.

Looks great & functions really nicely, Steve. What is the material in between the backside rim of the nose & the fenders? Looks like textured uhmw or a polycarbonate?

On the headlight door, how come you decided to use a rocker switch to operate the covers? Why not pull the power from the headlights to activate the relay? A lot less wiring involved and when the lights are turned on, the doors open and when turned off, the doors close.
@SteveMirabelli5 ай бұрын
If the switch was a simple lights on/ off switch like my car I would have but the headlights are wired into the security system of the car and have automatic features. I do not have the knowledge or the equipment to go into the system and delete those features and I did not want the doors flopping up and down when the headlights flashed on and off.
