As someone who currently works as a courtesy clerk at a supermarket for nearly 4 years now, these jokes really hit home for me. I seriously can't even count how many times I see things that piss me off every single day. Always a spill, always someone who takes too long to checkout, always have items being placed in the completely wrong area of the store, and even a couple times where someone left an apple on a shelf AFTER they took a bite. No I am not kidding
@multiumbreon74 ай бұрын
Finding an apple with a bite out of it would not phase me we constantly find open half consumed goods and that’s with cameras in every aisle being constantly monitored. Had a lady come in once a month and eat one muffin out of the four pack before putting it back on the shelf for like 6 months before they caught her. Our retired non foods manager once found a used tampon sitting on a shelf. They had to throw out everything on it and sanitize the whole aisle.

When I worked at a supermarket as a "store attendant" (janitor), I was in a bathroom stall when all of a sudden, in the stall next to me, someone comes is. They smelled awful, even with a wall between us. I try not to pay attention to them. They walk out (not washing their hands, mind you), and after I head out, I walk through Aisle 1 to get work done. There are dark greenish-brown balls smashed all over the floor, pressed into the tiles. Wouldn't you know it... The person in that stall next to me was changing their underwear. They had shit themselves all over the floor, not telling anyone, and left it there for everyone to walk over. And yet they still didn't even wash their hands...

Not an Aussie thing, more prevalent in Asia and Africa. A ‘wet market’ is an open air village market where you can buy foodstuffs, including live animals you would slaughter yourself. Much like the one in Wuhan where it is theorized Covid made the jump from livestock to humans.
@matthew-epurnell16109 ай бұрын
It's where people sell fish very close to the ocean. 😅
@sockatume9 ай бұрын
It’s not a specifically Aussie term, it means a market where a variety of food wares are sold wholesale, particularly live animals. The term reached wider currency when the origins of SARS-CoV-2 were traced to animal-to-human transmission linked to a Wuhan wet market.
@hurrburp41489 ай бұрын
A market where diseases easily spread. A wet market would have alive animals on the market that would get slaughtered when needed. The animals would be stored in ways to save space like having stacks of cages where animals would just poop on the lower ones.
