This is so much more interesting and realistic than the hand held point and shoot to rock and roll music hunts that are usually seen.

Randy, Ive been watching your videos for 5 hours straight now and I have to say you gained a new fan. You capture every up and down.. all the crazy emotional roller coasters that is bowhunting. ( i've only watched your achrery vids because I only primarily archery hunt) I love the fact that in a lot of your vids you go home empty handed. I live in Montana and my only passion is archery hunting, heck when folks are out chasing whitetails with a rifle i'm up 25 feet in a tree with a bow in my hand... and most of the time I go home empty handed. I Think that's why I connect so much with your show. I spend hour and hours on google earth and montana cadastral as you do looking for that next great adventure. I've been lucky enough to take some trophy animals, but at the end of the day its not about that. It's about the passion.. the obsession for those golden sunrises, and that next heart pumping moment that you show in the videos. I have a brand new 7 week old little girl...Scout is her name, and I can't wait to share my passion with her. Take care Randy and keep doing good work my friend. Allan Ness

Thank you, Allan. I wish I had grown up with archery, only taking up a bow when I turned 30. Yet, it has been very rewarding, in spite of the many failures (mostly failures). It has made me a better hunter and made my days afield far more fulfilling. Thanks for watching. Best to you in 2017.

This sure shows a true hunting experience the work and dedication that we put into a hunt. I could feel the highs and lows of the hunt great footage. This is how I have hunted all my life with great success. This year my bow season was short due to work but took a nice 4 point mule deer , 4x5 bull elk, cow elk and a true wild bison just me and my riding/pack mule. (My hunting buddy of over 40 years couldn't make it this year) I rarely enjoy a video like this one. I like it when mistakes that a lot of us have made are shown like calling when your the shooter and the bull is close. Thanks again

I don’t hunt but I love watching your hunt videos. When the buck got away at like 35 yards. I can only imagine your frustration but you didn’t yell. That was dope. Seeing your success throughout it’s also cool to see you at these super tough moments. You’re a great outdoorsman.

Thanks, Jeff. Personally, I have lost hope. The camera guy found it about 50 yards from where I started back tracking. When they yelled they had found the bull, I thought they were pulling a joke on me. Thanks for watching.

Wow randy, ive watched lots of your newer episodes, but I gotta say this early one was probably the best one ive seen. I think it tells a fantastic story. Your first bow elk, a not so perfect kill shot, the roller coaster of emotions. I also want to add that Id like to see more of the camp in some of your newer episodes, like you did with this production. Whether its a backcountry tent, or a big base camp wall tent set up, or sleeping out of the truck. Us DIY hunters don't have the outfitters to do all the work for us..so Im always looking for ideas for camp set up, easier methods, etc. Im glad I got to step back and watch this earlier episode tonight. Well done on the production. The emotions are definitely told through the production!!

what do you think is the best tactic for bull elk in north westren Montana during rifle season
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 жыл бұрын
Wow, that is one of the hardest elk hunts in all of North America. Low elk densities and very difficult terrain and vegetation. I would wait for snow and I would probably try to track them to their beds. Or, glass from afar, if you could find a small opening where they might feed. In thick country like NW MT, snow is a great help in reading tracks from afar or when you are following them. Just expect to see very few elk, due to low density and extremely thick cover. Good luck.

Randy can you recommend any units to try to draw on I’m putting in for New Mexico this year
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 6 жыл бұрын
There are no bad units in New Mexico. Such varied terrain, it mostly depends upon what you are looking for. Go to NM Game and Fish website. They have the draw odds and the application booklet there. That will show you what units/hunts are in highest demand. Those are the ones I would recommend, though the odds of drawing are very slim.

Randy, I'm in North Carolina looking to begin hunting public land. What resources should I be looking for? I have downloaded State and Federal game land maps, but is that all there are. Are there other resources I can check to find public land?
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 жыл бұрын
I use the onXmaps HUNT App. It has most the states. Those have some cost, but are the best sources I have found for large scale analysis of land ownership. Right now, they have a promo code "Randy16" if you find it to be what you are looking for.

Hey Randy, how come you don't use gloves and a face mask to cover the big spots of what stand out for the deer ? I think you would find a lot more success with just those two little items :-)
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 7 жыл бұрын
When I have two camera guys behind me, a facemask and gloves are a very small part of what is going to alert animals. Gloves impose on shooting and facemasks are a pain. Probably not good reasons, but for those who have seen our caravan going through the woods, they wonder how we get in range of anything. Thanks for watching.
