I’ve always loved this song and I was just sharing it with my son. I commented right after the song that I couldn’t believe nobody was laughing. And then Randy Newman mentions the very same thing. Maybe it’s just too close to the reality of the American psyche these days.

October 2, 2023 - This song came to mind while I was in a mood to listen to some of my favorite Randy Newman songs. It's one of probably five Randy Newman songs I have loved over the decades. While I know the song is definitely satirical.. I have to say there is almost an insane logic from an American zealot's point of view.😁 "They all hate us any how.."🤣

Even more poignant, Randy says at the end of the song, "Funny .. how people don't laugh at that anymore [about 'dropping the 'Big One']". I recall Nigel Farage saying to the EU Parliament something about not laughing now. It's now not a laughing matter in October 2022, and going forward, for many. We need Political Science to sort this out! Not!
