Somehow I missed this one when it came out. Dat's OK, I saw it now. Absolutely up to the standard I'm come to expect in Mr. Rainbow's material, which is to say hilarious. A lot of people think doing song parodies is fairly easy, being that one is working with existing material, and to a degree, they're right. A song parody is easy to do. A GOOD song parody, on the other hand, is quite difficult, having to fit whatever it is you want to say within the rhythmic and melodic pattern of the existing material, and having your message still be coherent. Not easy at all. Randy Rainbow...the man is a genius.

Oh, yes, Randy Rainbow is a MASSIVE GENIUS, & has been his entire life! As an 8-year old kid, he organized a neighborhood "stage play" of "Cinderella" (at least I'm pretty sure it was Cinders, & not Sleeping Beauty...!) Randy's Mom made him a lovely skirt for the play, as *HE was the star, Cinderella,* of course! What a great kid Randy was, and still is! (I wish he'd been neighbors with us, as MY kids, would have loved him then, too. It wasn't to be, as we live in California, he in the NYC area. They all do love Randy now, though - we ALL do!)

@@negascoot23 I discovered him in late January 2019... it's easy for me to know exactly when, because I was in the hospital with a horrible - nearly fatal - bout of viral pneumonia (specifically in the ICU) and when I woke up after 5 days a nurse offered me my iPad. I was catching up on the news and watching showtunes on youtube & for some reason it suggested Randy's Trump-themed Cell Block Tango! Instantly hooked. I was in the hospital for another 10 days and in that time I watched Randy's entire oeuvre; when I was discharged on Feb 8, the first thing I did (outside my apartment) was to go see Randy on Feb 9- in a small, non-singing featured role - in his off-Broadway debut in "Call Me Madam"! And then, when "Call Me Madam" star Carmen Cusack invited Randy to be a guest star in her cabaret performance at 54 Below on Feb 13 I went. Randy was a disaster; he hadn't learned the duet he was supposed to perform ("Love Will Keep Us Together") but I was still glad to have seen him in person (though I didn't approach him after the show; his performance had been too embarrassing for everyone in the room).

I truly feel for Mr. Rainbow. This is the problem with practically deifying artists/performers/entertainers we love: We expect, sometimes even *demand* perfection from them--without exception. I'm not saying this as an accusation. I'm saying it because I think you understand. Artists/performers/entertainers are *human* , no matter how high of a pedestal we place them on. Listen to legendary rock genius John Lennon's work with the Plastic Ono Band...watch multiple Oscar winner Tom Hanks in _The Money Pit_ , try to sit through the entire third season of the original _Star Trek_ ... *NOBODY* bats 1000. Nobody. And it does no honor to the creative people we love to expect absolute perfection. I can imagine how crushed Mr. Rainbow was by the incident you described: His early videos make it clear that he's sensitive about his popularity... ...in fact, he brilliantly taps into this insecurity and uses it as source material for his comedy (something Jewish comedians seem to have a real gift for doing). A commenter on another video related that she got a rather terse response from RR on Twitter when she (as a compliment) Tweeted about him and asked why he wasn't more popular. It's hard to judge emotional state via text, but if he WAS annoyed, I sympathize: He's been toiling in the basement of KZbin since Obama's first term, and doing stand-up before that even. He went essentially unnoticed outside of a small online fanbase until roughly "Desperate Cheeto" was posted. After THAT, he started going viral, and had his CNN interview, and started touring the country playing in sold-out venues. And all of that is marvelous--he absolutely deserves it❤️ But when you've been in the trenches for ten years, fighting for any recognition you can get... ...then you start to get noticed, start to actually achieve some degree of fame: And people act like you're an overnight sensation that just popped out of nowhere, I imagine that's both frustrating and painful...like all your work up to this point was meaningless. Same with interviewers who ask him what he'll do when Trump is no longer in office 😑 Bitch, Randy Rainbow was making brilliant comedy when Trump was still hosting _The Apprentice_ Anyway, I may have strayed from the point a skosh...sorry🤪

@@negascoot23 I know you don't mean anything by it, but maybe don't make generalizations about Jews, even if it's by way of saying something re: what Jewish comedians seem to have a real gift for doing... it's a slippery slope to talking about how we're so clever and so good with money, both of which might sound like compliments but really, really aren't. Re: 54 Below, to be fair to Randy, he was only asked to perform with Carmen Cusack 2 days before the show (because she herself was a late fill-in for another solo performer who got sick). And he probably thought he knew that song by heart, but it's slightly more complicated than it appears (I personally DO know every note because the male lead was one of my solos in my college a capella group... this made the butchered performance even harder for me to watch, despite RR's having warned us 9:30pm audience members before the duet began that the 7:30pm performance had been a disaster, but he was choosing to have a nice strong cocktail before singing instead of learning the song... honestly I thought he was joking, but quickly saw he was dead serious). He's always said he's lousy at auditioning & he does best when performing material he created - or at least chose - himself. And I saw him perform brilliantly - LIVE! - on November 9 2019 when his show came to NYC for one night only as part of a comedy festival (Sondheim & Steven Schwartz - among others - were in the audience!). All of that said, I remain a huge fan - I own RR merch and I have an autographed copy of his Christmas CD. Around here, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan he's famous; the NPR crowd all heard his interview wTerry Gross (though they think he exclusively sings parodies of show tunes by Rodgers & Hammerstein, with an occasional break for some Gilbert & Sullivan). I'm hoping he gives us some new songs to enjoy very soon.

Oh yeah, he's a genius. I really love how he poisons the minds of our youth by making up frivolous and vacuous videos. Perhaps you should study constitutional law, world history (last 200 years for example), the religious doctrines of Islam, the Rothchilds history, the events that led up to the formation of Israel (1900-today), every major war and the motives and actors behind them.
