Almost 30 years ago I was on a bus in Korea heading to Camp Casey. We were all just young soldiers in the Army. This song came on and my friend (picture a 6'4" muscular black guy) stood up and started singing beautifully and word for word. Everyone else joined in. I wasn't homesick anymore. I'll never forget that day. Great song.

My husband of 43 years passed away in August, 2021. This wasn't necessarily "our" song but both of us felt strongly about the message . Yesterday, I was in the Texas Roadhouse feeling sad and depressed. I don’t listen to country music but this song began to play when I was feeling so very, very low. I believe in the recognizing of signs from our loved ones who have passed away. I KNOW this was Jim's way of putting his arms around me to comfort me. He has 'come' to me before in various ways. I cried silently in my booth through the entire song. This is a song that is timeless. This is what I would like played at my memorial service dedicating it to Jim. Without him (and Randy Travis's voice) this masterpiece would be just another song to me.

My Mum died a number of years ago and athough I'm not religious I SWEAR I feel her presence. Sometimes I imagine myself beside her and it feels like she is with me, it feels real. They never really leave us. He is clearly living in your heart. Sorry again for your loss, I have children and cannot imagine the loss....Bless you, take care, and stay safe please. I have a song that reminds me of my Mum too, one I listened to a few weeks after her death as for many weeks just needed total silence, could not stand any music, but a song on Eva Cassidy's album was the first I played. Her music is so soulful, transcendental and spoke to my heart back then. I still sometimes cry when I hear that song by her, it reminds me of my loss, but in a good way, if that makes any sense ? Hope you have support in your grief. Good luck and take care. Your son was lucky to have been so loved.🤗🤗

This was my Mom and Dads song!! Dad used to sing along and dance across the room toward her and give her a kiss!! Played it at their 50th wedding anniversary! 💕They were married for 67 years before they passed away within three months of each other! It’s been 11/12 years and I still miss them everyday, but I know one day we will all be together in heaven!! 💕🙏🏼

This song has always reminded me of my Grandma and Grandpa. At his funeral, they played recordings of the love songs he wrote and sent my grandmother when he was over seas in World War 2. As he ran around Africa with General Patton and then later, stormed Utah Beach in Normandy, he always had time to write my grandma love songs. Even after their passing 36 years ago, this song still stirs vivid memories of their love when I hear it. Great song and great memories.

Not a big country or love song guy, but this is a real sweet song. Personally, never found that special someone, but this song always reminds me of my Mom and Dad. That's really how they felt about each other, and I always thought that was awesome. My Mom passed away a little short of their 38th anniversary. Sept 14th their anniversary happens to be my birthday, will always be bittersweet. I cherish everyday I still have with my Dad, and I love that he'll love my mom "forever and ever,amen"...

Nah... There's still some good, down home country out there. The newer dudes, like Chris Stapleton, Josh Turner, Eric Church, Thomas Rhett, Chris Young, Zac Brown Band, etc... Plus the ones that have been around for awhile... Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, and the traditional guys still active: Alan Jackson and the king himself, George Strait. But yeah, the crap like FL/Ga Line is just that... Pure crap.

I found a pit bull in the street (already had 3), and fell in love with him instantly. As soon as he saw me he ran over, jumped into my car, then crawled into my lap and fell asleep (all 70 lbs of him). I took him to the vet to check for a chip and he had none. As we were driving away from the vet, I turned the radio on and the last chorus of this song was playing "I'm gonna love you, forever and ever, forever and ever, forever and ever...". At that point, it was still not decided whether we were going to keep the dog, but hearing those words, it hit me just how special this dog was to me. Well, long story short, almost a year later and he is sitting beside me as I write this. To this day, this is "our" song (yes, I realize only I am capable of appreciating that :P)

It was so bad when Randy had his stroke . Odds are , my name is Randy . I had a stroke in 2016 , did 3 months rehad to help me walk and talk . Was doing good and then had a second stroke in 2017 . Had to go through it all over again . Just 48 years old . Changed my life forever . Luckly I got to the Hospital within about a hour and a half both times and they gave me a med that can bust blood clots . It is a very dangerous med . About 10 to 15% of people that get it die , but thank God It saved my life !

Why I love Randy Travis - This is a longish story… When I was a young Cadet at the Virginia Military Institute I had a wonderful opportunity to march in George H. W. Bush’s inaugural parade (Millard Fillmore Here!). We were still in uniform later that evening at the inaugural ball and some of us were asked to help with security. I drew one of two peach assignments of standing bodyguard for the talent just before they went on stage. There were two entries and two exits on each side of the stage. While one act was performing, the other following act would wait at the opposite entry. Some of the stars that waited with me were very nice and cordial to the fans, and some were not. Perhaps the biggest star on the ticket turned out to be a complete jerk to the fans. I was one of his biggest fans until that evening. I was able to meet and briefly chat with half of the stars as they waited their turn to go on stage. The other half passed in front of me as they exited, but none of them did anything more than wave at the crowd as they made a hasty exit. Randy Travis entered on the opposite side of the stage and was one of the stars that passed in front of me as he exited. Unlike the other stars, he seemed happy to pause and shake hands with people lining the exit tunnel. A woman leaned over the railing when he was literally halfway down the tunnel and shouted “We Love You Randy!” At that point he turned around came back up the tunnel to make sure he told that woman face to face that he loved her too and stood several minutes talking with her and other fans. It was just a few minutes, but that woman almost certainly has never forgotten the “hour or two” that she spent talking with Randy Travis. He was so down to earth and genuinely kind in his comments to her and the other fans. I shook hands with him (his hands are HUGE!!) but didn’t think to get a picture. I am an African American male who had ZERO interest in country music at a time when Rap music was king and New Jack Swing was just coming into its own. Hard to believe, but I have listened to Randy Travis for all of my adult life now…and I am nearing 50. I hope someday to meet Randy Travis again in person to thank him for a life-changing experience. There are a lot of people out there (Black and White) who like me dismissed country music and country music fans as throwbacks to a darker time in American history. One man’s kindness to a fan at an event where other “stars” were carrying themselves like petulant children forced me to see an important truth about people - who you are as a person on the inside will always show through the glitter on the outside - who you truly are trumps everything else whether you like it or not - and there is nothing you can do about it except stay who you are or work to become a better person. I am not White, I am not conservative, but I am a proud Randy Travis fan!!! I
