My partner gifted me one of these gorgeous pens today for Christmas. It was a special gift as is, but having the opportunity to watch the skilled hands of the man who made it renders it all the more special to me. Thank you for sharing your talents and inviting us to watch you work! In a world of mass production, the work of artisans is priceless.

In my opinion, all of these expensive luxury fountain pens do not have this value. Because these wonderful little masterpieces of traditional craftsmanship from India are simply something very special. These pens are intended for writing. And using them is a joy. In this CNC-dominated world, it's a nice feeling to know that there is another way.

Hand-chased threads?! I didn't even know that was a thing. I can't even imagine the practice required to acquire that skill. Very impressive craftsmanship.

excellent pen , same i am using for the past forty years , during my engineering and also at my service, as an engineer, still i have the same, no words to say about Ranga pen, In my opinion it is more than parker, and sheifer pen, in my opinion, specially it is Indian made pen, though i retired from service till i have the same , but don''t want others to use, many many thanks, it is a most important item in my life.

ratnam pens are handmade since 1932 . Guider pens since 1960. And Ranga pens since 1975. India is continuing lost tradition of handmade europen fountain pens.

When I read their pens were "hand-made" I had not idea it was including the lathe tooling! I thought it was on a conventional lathe with a tool post etc. A full hand turned pen like that is insanely impressive for the final quality.

Thank you for posting this. I love my pen! It has helped support me as much as his skills in making the pen have supported him and his family( I hope) . Without it ,many a commission may not have been accomplished successfully, or on time. I had no idea the craftsmanship behind it. The pen was a gift to me , albeit a very well loved and treasured one. This just adds one more layer of appreciation.

Awesome vid, thanks so much for sharing. So cool to see the process. Handmade Indian Ebonite pens are my absolute favorites, the ability to adjust the feed and set any no. 6 nibs into the pen is priceless when compared to mass produced pens with plastic feeds. My clear and only choice when it comes to drawing and writing! I think I am going to pick up one right now!

Great artist and nothing to compare the mass produced instrument we use on the same rage of writing. Lovely documented but even the recording is not comparable to what we see in our world where we live. Understand it was done with limited means too. I am going to buy several Ranga pens and I am proud to keep them and use them with my other pens. Thanks for the share of the video.

Ancient method of manufacturing! A few simple and better tooling could do for easy and accurate machining. Simple gadgets to ensure safety and hygiene of the operator like goggles, earplugs, etc . Even a simple vernier caliper is not used here for better accuracy. Everything is depending on the experience of the operator! Why this way of making?

Try heat setting the feed(if it is a nib problem).Boil some water (until it just bubbles no more) and dip the nib and feed (they need to be on the section but you need to dip only the nib and feed orelse you might damage the section), then you keep it there for about 30 seconds, after that you pull it out and with your fingers you push gently the nid and feed together (not too much force because you might cause alignment or flow issues). If the leak comes from the threads you can use some silicone grease to seal them well.

Warning!!! Ranga does not take returns or attempt to correct clear errors - While I received a beautiful pen it was clearly not even close to the colour I had chosen. The main response was that it was the colour I had chosen and no recourse was available - very saddened that I will not get to use a Ranga pen and I am now too afraid to make other colour choices - I will post this on as many reviews as I can - again, beautiful pens but clearly wrong one sent
