I am 16 years old and I am waiting to speak to a recruiter -legally- next year. I do PT every day: I'm up to 47 average push-ups in 2 minutes, ~30 situps in 2 minutes, and about 2.5 miles in 28 minutes. I have self-educated myself on several aspects of Marine Corps life, and I have turned down several attempts from my own father to get me to join the Army instead. Hell, I started out by memorizing the USMC rank structure, and I even know what MOS I'm going for. By the way, I despise Call of Duty

As a range coach I remember being on the range and getting caught in a sudden down pour with out my Goretex... It didn't bother me until the next morning...200yd line and there was more golden in my yawn than in the sunrise. Needless to say I was done for the day.

An acog to quality with? Really? My favorite time as a Marine was on the range shooting and coaching other Marines. But what are they gonna do when that acog breaks? Are they taught to make sight adjustment or just get a new scope?

when i was going through the DEP I found the easiest way to improve pull-ups was, you guessed it, doing pull ups. Buy a $20 door-mounted bar and do pyramids 3-4 times a week. The next best thing is push ups. What I did for push-ups was set up a system of doing 10 everytime I woke up, before and after eating or showering, pissed, during commercials, before/after running, before going to sleep etc. Then each week I bumped it up 5 push ups until I was doing about 60 push ups 25 times a day

Sorry, I meant 90 seconds for both of those. I always round up for some reason. I'm well aware that I need to improve a lot before I step foot on Parris Island. Since I don't have anything to do pull-ups with, I do curl-ups.

Documentary's, books, marines , military personal ect.. All the Divisions you mentioned in your previous comment are Special Operation Forces of course their training is different.

Optics (scopes) on the rifle for qualifying? Holy shit. Piece of cake. How could you not qualify when you have an ACOG on your rifle? Please tell me no Marines go unqualified with scopes. You would have to be a real rock to go "unq" with a scope on the M16.

Their slogan is "One Mind, Any Weapon". They teach you that even if you don't have your rifle, you still have the ability to take out your enemy. So saying without my rifle, I am nothing, is false.

no, that guys right. But the problem is, barely any marines can shoot well, barely any can fight well. In this video alone I saw more than a few very obvious issues with their weapons handling that could be quick fixed to make them better shots....yet still no coaches ever see that stuff.

you're taking it to literally. what it means is, by nothing, the Marine's praying is implying that his rifle is what makes him who he is, and without his rifle, there's just me.

...those are some piss poor scores....but Marines do pullups, not pushups. in case you don't know, 'perfect' scores would be 20 pullups, 100 crunches in 2 minutes, and 3 miles in 18minutes.

i really don't get that message at all from this video... not one bit. you do know Marines learn mixed martial arts in basic training, right? they learn how to use their bare hands, feet, and knives/bayonets VERY effectively, or else they can't pass basic. "every Marine a rifleman" is only one expectation out of many for the marines. every Marine is also a trained martial artist. they know very well that THEY are the weapons.

Marines are not weapons. They are human beings. Human beings that know how to use anything as an effective and lethal weapon. How would you know what a soldier is, and is not, in the first place?
