We bought the Hämmerli X-esse a few days ago and immediately ran into feeding issues. We solved this fairly easily by applying oil to the slide and spring, and it performed normally for the remaining ~150 rounds. A wonderful gun!

In the mid-eighties , I competed with a 22 short hammerli. It cost me 10cnt a bale for 2 hay seasons. Someone stole it '91, but I still have 11 top3 trophies.

Great report. Had mine for about 5 years. Agree a very nice gun except for the occasional mag feeding issues. Found the best way to fix this was to buy 2 new mags about every 2 years.

Great information. It might be a spring issue then.

Stick w/ standard velocity ammo per the manual. The slide stop is susceptible to peening/ cracking when subjected to HV ammo. Change the springs in the magazines and it will fix your FTF issues. Have both the 4.5 and 6” since 2000. Use them every day on the farm and the occasional competition. Mount a red dot and pickup a custom holster from Gear Maniacs, and you’ll have the perfect set up. Happy shooting!!

Good morning, Jason, nice looking 22rf pistol. And as usual it shoots better than the chap holding it. Cheers

Lol, yes it does

I picked up a Trailside I was told that if you had copper jacket pieces it just runs better hoping to go out soon and find out shooting it for the first time soon

Get yourself a Volquartsen Black Mamba. You won’t have any reason to shoot another .22 pistol after you experience what the folks in Carroll Iowa deliver.

I would love to review one

However they still can’t make the trigger and gun feel as smooth as my Colt Woodsman Match Target series ll (1950), or my Hi Standard Supermatic Citation Military with fluted 8” Bull Barrel(1973/4)or my Browning Medalist from 1968.

What Ammo are you using? I have found with all my .22,s that some run/like to run a certain type & velocity

I would have to go back and look. It has been awhile since I made that video.

He says it's bulk high velocity ammo. These pistols like to be fed Standard velocity fyi.

@@bigpoppa101101 I agree, my older ones like my Hi Standards, Colt Woodsman’s, Match Targets, S&W Model 41,s, Browning Medalist and the like really do well with decent quality Standard Velocity. Some of my old match grade revolvers too.
