The Terminator Praetor's flames have always looked strange to me, but they probably could work if you paint them as demonic-looking fumes rather than actual flames. Give them a bright green or gloomy purple colour, something along those lines.

One of my mates took the time to do them in warpfire tones (pink, green etc) then carefully do tiny freehand chaos stars into them. Looks INCREDIBLE but takes a lot of time and effort for something that realistically should have been part of the sculpt. (Part of the sculpt = the chaos feel of the brazier should have been doubled down on)

Great video as always man, but a quick point to make. Angel Tal, like Erebus, Kor Phaeron, and Lorgar, are based on the battle of the Dropsite Massacre which is before Argel Tal got his weapons. That’s why he has two massive claws which is actually his Power Claws mutated. The ultramarine, however, is an artistic liberty taken by the painter.

Another hint of this, is that Argel Tal’s model is reffered to as ‘Commander of the Serrated Sun”, which basically got killed off on Istvann. Next time we see him, with the Custodes weapons, he is the commander of the Vakrah Jal.

I love the Word Bearers sculpts, they're really nice and so much detail. The Praetor I've converted to be a Librarian for one of my chapters, and the Tartaros Praetor has become a Termie Chaplain. They're really marked out as characters compared to my Termie block that's made from a mixture of 30K kits and Thousand Sons. I think if I ever got Layak, I'd replace that left fleshy arm straight away, and probably the weird staff. The Master of Possession is a really nice sculpt, and is a straight up Master of Possession for my Chaos warband. Erebus & Kor Phaeron I'm just not feeling, though Erebus is a nice sculpt. And Lorgar is a simple, yet nice sculpt.

Great video! Would be really interested to hear your take on the greater possessed from 40K that came out with the master of possession originally, and the new possessed, being used as Gal Vorbak?

Do you think a " loyalist " Word Bearer army would be viable ? I know it's not the best idea because they lose nearly all their options but I think it would be quite a unique and cool looking force, especially with the Imperial Heralds color skin.

When it comes to Layak's weird arm/shoulderpad for me it's always had a sort of Landsknecht look to it with how the fabric billows out and is then tucked in. Don't know if that's what they were going for but it's just something I've noticed.

Did all the legions have mk6? I was under the impression it was very uncommon out with the ravenguard legion.

There is no canon in 40K, just a bunch of jumbled up lore nuggets. HH, being based off the non-existent 40K canon, is in the exact same state. Pick whatever lore nuggz you enjoy and build/model/paint/play your army in accordance with that and literally ignore everything else. You'll be happier 👍

It’s gone back and forth _a lot_ over the years. Originally there was only mark six, which was ‘just’ power armour, with no other marks. Later when GW introduced Aquila armour, beaky armour was retconned as a previous mark. Up until the Horus Heresy novel series, 6 was the standard armour of all of the space marine legions, with the old Index Astartes articles even showing certain legions in mark seven pre-heresy. From what I remember it was around the time of the beginning of the HH novel series when marks 3 and 4 were made the ‘standard’ pre-heresy armours, and mark six shifted to something that mostly came at the end of the heresy. And now GW is shifting things again so that mark 6 was standard by the end of the Heresy, but not before.

No. Its a bullshit retcon

You'd get lots of Mk6 in Ravenguard, Alpha Legion and arguably also White Scars; it makes very little sense to have the bulk of the army be Mk6 for any other Legion. The odd-unit, sure, but Mk3 or Mk4 would be more apropriate for most legions with the odd smastering of Mk2/Mk5.

That's is a load of rubbish, the lore is clearly stated within countless books as only recently has it been given this mystical nuance of hearsay and conjecture ....if lore was not certain at all you wouldn't have a HH at all ..there would be no certainty and anything could happen ... This is not the case there are still ground rules despite retcons and shifting ideals ... If you are trying to portray otherwise you don't care for the universe and care more for pushing your political ideologies than being invested in the lore ...discounting the lore so easily means you have not read it and understood it You are right mate HH1.0 stated that mk6 was far and few between ..only certain legions utilised it as it was seen as a cowardly mk and with the vast majority of it being given to the raven guard a lot of legions didn't have it ...only a little amount of people outside of the raven guard would have it ..issues potentially to all legions but out of thirty marines maybe one would utilise mk6 ...now ..to sell models and purely to sel models ..suddenly it is widespread ...and it's not only widespread but it's the most common mk used in HH2.0 ... As is indomitus which always used to be a 40k timeline and not around for the HH Without lore we could state that girlyman was the size of a spuirrel and killed the emperor ..which just didn't happen ...part of what is talked about and said can be attributable to propaganda or skewed eye witness accounts but the vast majority not so ..that would be rediculius and to suggest otherwise a leading biased folly

Okay, I’ve gotta mention this. I can handle your salt because it’s nice to hear negativity occasionally to counteract a lot of ‘consooomer’ tendencies in the community. But you’re also inconsistent sometimes. For instance, in this video ‘I’m mixed on the praetor’s helmet because it’s very 40k’ then like 2 minutes later ‘I like the 40K dark apostle as a praetor’ So is the ‘40K aesthetic’ in 30k a problem or not? Why in some cases but not in others?

I don't know how this confuses people, but some miniatures from 40k translate well to heresy, by being just generic enough, or having the right armour, whatever it may be. Other parts look so 40k that they shouldn't go near heresy. So, with that in mind, sometimes you can take a model and port it across to Heresy and it just works, other times you have to kitbash them a little, and sometimes you have a "heresy"-specific sculpt that misses the mark. I try and select parts and minis that work in the intended role.

Erebus being the biggest jerk.... press x to doubt. After reading Lorgar´s primarch novel... Kor Phaeron gives Erebus quite the run for his money in being the biggest jerk of them all.
