I just tried this weapon out, and i'm completely suprised be the power of this gun! Still, waw's Double Barrel Shotgun (no attachment) had better accuracy and range. However, despite what the in game creat-a-class menu says, the Ranger is fairly accurate for a shotgun.

The akimbo rangers had perhaps the best reload cancel in the whole game, which really aided to the shotgun balance. People might think the Spas was the best, but they slept on the ranger a lot

@@mfspectacular The reload cancel of the Akimbo Rangers really added to the danger of the guns. Up close, no shotgun will beat the Akimbo Rangers. Sure the Spas has the best range, but if you miss with the Spas (which isn't completely unlikely) your chances of surviving against an Akimbo Rangers user is incredibly low. The shotguns were actually balanced quite well. Spas had the best range, but its lower rate of fire left it open to danger for faster firing shotguns. I personally preferred the M1014 or the Striker for most situations.

@@phil_matic the dual rangers are deadass a "gtfo my face" weapon. It's main strength over the others being reliability. If it aint dead from the first shot youve got another to *immediately* follow up w. Firing as fast as you can, just like the pistols. Considering reload cancels are irrelevant when a spas, aa12, or even m10 will already/still be firing at you (either thru missing or just bad timing, w/e). Mitigating the spas' fire rate is just about bobbing & weaving thru cover. Getting a rhythm going when you run into groups of enemies. Just about as good as the m10 & aa12 with fire rate if youre good enough. Aint like the ksg where close range is a gamble, let alone far away. Remember the dual 1887s? One of the few things to be patched in mw2 were literally dual spas 12s 💀 no getting over a skill curve like the spas either. M10's dope but i like how it fit in 4 better. It & the rangers actually feel like secondaries unlike the spas & aa12. The latter with extended & scav is the most ridiculous sht. No escape once it start chuggin. With sit rep it becomes the best room sweeper too

I’ve beaten several spas users who thought I was using a completely inferior shotgun. If they didn’t get me with their first shot, I certainly got them with all of my faster shots

1:07 Why six pellets? Why not eight or nine? They're not mini-shells. 1:25 How does it deal the highest damage if it has the shortest barrels? Slow-burning powder combined with stubby barrels means more drop-off in damage potential (as you mentioned). Still, compact shotguns are useful for a particular niche such as their use as ambush weapons in the hands of partisans. 2:02 It also makes you feel like Caleb from the 'Blood' games. *}:-D*

I find that the most effective strategy with the akimbo Rangers is double tapping the trigger for one of the Rangers, allowing that to reload while you still have two more effective chances to kill with the other. This, I have found, reduces your vulnerability in reloading that is experienced often when presented with larger groups of enemies.

You should add that the Rangers benefit a lot with the use of reload cancellation with the quick Add Time. It cuts the reload animation especially with Akimbo by almost half. Good thorough guide. Well done.

The reload cancelling on the akimbo Rangers is incredibly quick, so SoH isn't needed if you're fast and clean with reload cancelling.

Akimbo Rangers are my favorite shotgun(s) to use if using Sleight of Hand. Sure they're frowned upon, but my god, they just work so well. Their range is awful, but it doesn't matter most of the time, because four rapid shots will leave just about anyone dead anyway. My choice of shotgun usually depends on the primary perk (Scavenger - AA 12, neither Scavenger nor Sleight of Hand - Spas 12), but overall Akimbo Rangers works so damn well. Cheap, but they work.

Damn, that's crazy each pellet does 75 damage at point blank range! 450 damage from a single shot of a gun is insane regardless of range. If MW2 had juggernauts in multiplayer you could do 900 damage to a jugg if you were using akimbo rangers and were able to sneak up behind them and fire a shot with each gun. I'm not 100% of the juggernauts health, I think they had like 1,000 or 1,250 health, or something like that, but if you had the rangers in MW3 you could realistically do 1,800 damage to one before you had to reload, all you would have to do is get up close and fire all 4 shells and you are putting out 1,900 fucking damage, lol. I remember whenever playing MW3 and there was a Jug on the other team all you had to do was pull out the akimbo FMG machine guns, which were super secondary weapons, lol, and if you were able to put a full clip from akimbo FMG's a Jug didn't stand a chance. I remember a lot of people raging pretty hard because the assault jug was one of the highest score streaks and would take like 17 kills to earn, then you would have to throw down a care package marker and wait for it, then hope you can pick it up without someone shooting you and taking it, then once you actually got it all it took was one enemy player to take you out almost instantly with their back up machine guns. A killstreak that high should have been designed better. Earning a streak that takes over 15 kills should be automatic to collect it, you shouldn't have to worry about calling it in and have someone come along and take it, and you shouldn't have to worry about getting melted by a secondary, lol. I know I got way off topic here on the ranger MW2 video, lol, but seeing how much damage each pellet put out for me to thinking, lol.

@iMiguelAOG The Ranger's pellet go 9 meters before disintegrating. 9 meters is the farthest they can possibly go. At that range, with akimbo and WITHOUT stopping power, shooting all four barrels does 960 damage, and two barrels at once deals 480, and just one barrel at max range does 240, so long as all six pellets hit. Divide that even more, and at the Ranger's max range, without stopping power, only three pellets are needed to hit to kill, and shooting four barrels at once puts out 24 pellets.

You can cut the reload by a second by sprinting when the shots are in the barrel. That little trick makes the akimbo extremly powerfull.

TIP You should incorporate reload canceling. I can't think of a better candidate for RC than the Ranger. Watch the ammo count when you reload. It is filled quite quickly - much faster than the animation would suggest. At this moment sprint or double tap Y (or triangle). This will cancel the reload animation and cut the reload time by more than half. This is a life saver. This technique can be used with almost any gun, but it's the Ranger, specifically, that benefits the most.

Actually, reload for the rangers is very quick, w/o SOH. When you reload, your guy empties the spent shells out an you hear him sliding new ones in, then you see the animation where he flips them up and you hear them click. After you hear him slide the new cartridges in, you can start sprinting again as the game will not make you start over as long as you see the bullet grey areas turn white on the bottom of the screen. This is true for all guns.

They do make larger size shot like 00 or 000 buckshot with a copper jacket mostly for certain applications, but is more expensive, and plain lead shot is overall better. Since lead is realivily soft having a harder surface will increase penetration.

no, 00buck is more then 2 bbs, they are just larger. each ball in 00buck is around 9mm, but 000buck is more around the 40 caliber.

Just because it isn't "Full metal Jacket" that doesn't mean it's a "hollow point". Standard buckshot are bare lead balls. No jacket, yet not "hollow" either. And "FMJ" in MW2 is a stand-in-term for any alternate ammo that increases penetration. For a shotgun, that would be to use tungsten pellets, they are more dense than lead pellets. Really all rifle and pistol rounds are FMJ by standard, for "extra" penetration it should be special "armour piercing" rounds, using an internal tungsten dart.

@SpitfireFortyFour YES! The ranger is amazing, and I am a fan of the olympia as well. I reccomend using the ranger(s) in free for all until you unlock akimbo. Don't expect to go 30 and 0 with them though. They are mainly a FUN weapon to use more then a streak weapon.
