Solid Mod list mate. Frontal protection, Spring Rate and Lights that just about sums up what I think the Raptor is lacking...although I did go and push a few trees on the tracks with the standard bumper and it didn't even scratch it?? Treat Mrs Lucky 9 with the DP Chip and Plug n Go throttle controller...you won't be disappointed.

Yeah man no massive mods but just like you said there’s a few things it’s lacking, yeah dp chip is on the cards I think.

@@TyFenwick What about a bump stop adjustment for the taller tires so the Ranger Raptor can still be jumped. Are you planning on 315/70r17 on 17×8.5 wheels. I would get a K&N stock replacement air filter(with the spray cleaner/oil kit), a cat-back exhaust system and skip the tuning.

Good to hear that the power is not really bad for the Raptor. We still haven't got them on the roads here in Europe. And I also feel 200+ should be good. Minding the fuel prices here, I am actually quite glad with the engine choice Ford has made. Me myself am hoping to be able and get one later this year. And also plan some mods to create a work/leisure set up. It is just a pity that we can hardly find reasonably priced accessories here. Some of the things I don't understand with the Ranger is the placement of the antenna at the end of the cabin. Which is not really handy when planning to mount a larger size roof top tent. And the other thing I don't like is the full size rear bench folding. With 1 child seat mounted. The whole folding option becomes a bit useless. Thanks for keeping us updated on your mods. I'd I can get my hands on one and do the mods I'm thinking of. I might make a final rewiew video of my setup. Note that it will likely be different from the other drivers now. As here it is not really about overlanding. But mainly for short term trips. As it is largely populated. So no extra fuel/water tanks etc. And I am quite sure that many others will also be interested in a similar set up. My idea is mainly to reach some remote places and take some days off. And already plan some clever out of the box ideas. Again thanks for your efforts on the videos. And I hope you keep explaining your choices. And of course enjoy your rides.

As we discussed before we are sharing quite some common opinions on the practical use of the Raptor for both work and leisure usage. And the differences will be mainly because we live in different places. First of all, traffic laws make any modification very restricted. Everything has to be passed by EU approvement. So many of the extras will be difficult to mount or easy to remove for periodical checks. A power chip would be a nice extra gadget, and easy removable in case I run into warranty issues. But I will see when time comes and then decide if it is worth the money for me. Also many parts are simply not available here. And many Australian companies do not ship internationally. Again I am glad to follow your build up. As there are probably more people interested in just some mods. And the real overlanding thing is a whole different world. But for the moment they haven't even hit the roads here in Europe. But just to share some of my (probably too simple ;-) mods would be; - Cheap roof spoiler on the front of the cabin with some small lights. Additional lights here are limited to 1000 candela. Which isn't really much at all. And I would probably just get pulled over when mounting a large LED bar. Maybe just some large magnetic spotlights whenever needed. Which it probably really isn't out here. As I am not planning on driving off road at night. Also there is not the same amount of wildlife. So no need for any big bull bar. More something like a small nudge to keep others from parking into my front. Which is common here in Spain to fit their cars in parking spaces. In the rear a good long towbar prevents more damage than parking sensors. The roof spoiler would give it a nice different look and hopefully some fuel economy as I plan a roof top tent. And I also want to stick an antenna strip under it. As the original one is placed on the back. Which is a stupid place when planning to use a rooftop tent, overlapping a small part of the cabin. - Plan to build or buy some elevated floor with drawers to organize goods. With some rails on top to slide in/out a fridge. I will only need a small fridge anyway and just want to mount some rails on the bottom of the fridge. And lock both with a simple pin lock. When camping I want my fridge in the tent. And not in the car bed. So no need for fancy drop down special slides. - Further just a good Lithium battery pack and BMR. And a cheap battery charger to plug directly to the socket when in the garage. And calculate the capacity to get through 3 days of practical use of fridge and some extras. - Only some sets of 12VDC sockets in some places. If I want USB power, I simply plug in a double USB adapter when needed. - A small auto switch off compressor with a T-joint. So I can just set the pressure and fill either both front, or both rear tyres. And only have to change connections once, instead of 3 times. I will give feedback if this works or not. But it would just make things easier. But in general both tyres should be filled rather equally. No? - For the rest I will mainly use some powerpacks for mobiles. And less than 1 EUR USB plugs with integrated LED lights in different colours depending if I want to attract bugs, or lure them to the neighbours when on a camping site. And 1 gooseneck USB light for in tent or out tent light. Plugged into battery pack or 12V socket. - For showering no fancy stuff either. Just planning to take an old inner tube and fit a garden hose connection. It will heat up enough on the bonnet on a sunny day. And I can fill and empty it with a power drill. And just pull the wire when I want it activated. - Same drill I will also use to use long wood screws as tent pegs. Instead of hammering and bending pegs. - No SAT phone needed as most areas have GSM coverage here. Maybe if needed just a cheap signal booster hanging high in a tree. - Canopy with some internal mesh. Normally meant to use as theft prevention. But I want to use or get some lasered to fit Molle attachments. So having easy access to the sides pockets. And great attachment points for fishing rods, or extra stake poles by using some velcro traps. - With the side windows open I will just use some foldable toiletry bags hanging from the mesh. They easily ZIP open and make a perfect storage for grilling tools and spices. - Some cheap plastic foldable 2-step ladders for easy canopy entrance or extra seating. As for sure my neighbours will notice the fridge! - For the canopy I want an Aluminium cab with 200+ load capacity. And some small all around rails to mount roof top tent. - Roof top tent, hopefully iKamper. Is light. So I plan to hang 4 chains to the ceiling of my garage, covering the tent corners. Its then simply unfastening the tent. Lift one side up and hook it to the 2 chains. And then the same on the other side. - So without the roof top tent it might come in handy when using it for work, and also to enter some parking garage entrances. I will see. - But most of all it would be the perfect place to sit on top and watch some parades or the son playing. Or even the odd wall shielded football game. - And with a small rack before the roof top tent. I would have direct access to a cold beer. reaching out from the side window. But before buying the rack I might first use some rubber mats but that all depends on the risk of damaging the roof. - For local transport possibly a mini motor bike or for the city just an electrical goped. Hope to pick up a dismantable motor trailer for my 1200cc. Which should fit inside the room of the canopy without problems. - Maybe I get a big trailer and do some freelance bbq catering. Which would then really make it my perfect work/leisure vehicle. But we will see. Until then I first have to calculate some other budgets as well. But will be definitely ready when I can buy one. - Below the canopy roof a table set and a large luggage net for stowing easy acces stuff or hanging some clothes to dry. - I further plan to add some 10 EUR 12V bluetooth switches for automation of some things. - I just received a 15 EUR NFC contact, car starter kit. Which I can hopefully use to open/close the door by just using my 15 EUR NFC ring as a key. And leave my keys inside the locked car (hidden in an RFID proof pocket). So I can leave for the beach with just a towel. And don't have to worry where to hide my keys. As my ring is the key. Anyway. Too many ideas. And a lot more to follow. My end goal is to have my tent, awning, chairs, table, Weber-Q and fridge ready and setup within a maximum of 10-15 minutes. And all still have a more stealth then overland look. Regards again. And keep your videos coming. I am not that handy, neither type to make videos. But when above dreams come true I will invite someone who is good at this to a nice outdoor BBB weekend. BBQ, Beer and Bre....

Please mention what type/brand of spring, once you get them. I like the idea of a better spring rate and will lift the truck higher by 2 inches. Perfect stance/height in my opinion. Ever thought of those coil spacers? Thanks.
@TyFenwick
@TyFenwick 5 жыл бұрын
The trouble with coil spacers is at full droop the cv will be damaged as they will travel future past a point there not designed to. A spring won’t cause that so that’s why I going to do springs over spacers, pedders have a listing I’m looking at now.
@ricartarmandseverino9149
@ricartarmandseverino9149 5 жыл бұрын
TY FENWICK true! I believe (correct me if im wrong) that coil spacers are for Show only and may be meant for flat roads and not for off Roading or Roach driving. I see. What I only know is from King springs. The dobinson coil are only for load purposes like changing to steel bumper. Height wont change...

Good vid mate, I have spent mega bucks on full mods of LC79's, Hiluxes, and Rangers, but with this I would just like a winch, 2nd battery, and maybe a bit more power, and I might need a good wack with the stock whip for thinking about putting a snorkel on it, interesting what you say about the exhaust, I never thought of that. Has anyone done power upgrades with these yet, I only seen the one with the plug and play DP chip, has anyone put a winch plate and winch in one without changing the front bumper, be interesting to see the results, looking forward to seeing your mods, good luck.

Hey Ty, thanks for another great video mate. Have you done any research regarding the spring? I am going through this right now after recently purchasing my new Camper Trailer. The first time I Hooked up to the Camper, the rear of my Raptor sagged A LOT :) Needing ideas as to where to source some heavier duty springs. So far shops I have spoken to are worried that increasing the spring on the rear enough to cope with any extra weight is going to destroy the everyday ride. ????
@TyFenwick
@TyFenwick 5 жыл бұрын
It’s really hard... there’s always going to be a compromise no matter what you do. I’ve been speaking with pedders they have a listing for a set of springs for the raptor in there catalog. I’d suggest calling them and look at the ball weight of your camper trailer, it should be 10% of the trailers total weight then you’d just need a spring to carry that much extra weight over the factory spring. However when you don’t have the trailer on it will most likely be firmer in the rear unfortunately, thats just the compromise you need to accept. Cheers hope this helps.

@@TyFenwick I personally don't think that full electrical will be practical. It's already a known fact that this only works for city commuters. As the powerlines to all highway stations won't be able to handle all customers which also need to fuel twice as often due to the limited reach. The only real solution will be the next step. Which is hydrogen. It is easy to distribute and a fill up will take the same time as a usual fuel tank.

Awesome mods. I'm getting the Rhino bar with the 12000 pound winch, its slim line and it just looks the part also allowing another light bar intergraded into the bulbar itself., plus if you go to PJ 4x4 located in Shepperton, Victoria, have a look at their hard lid ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ-VnopqmKmLo6M ) and why I wouldn't get a roller shutter ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZTMd3qvhKuonpY ) for security reasons. I ended up getting the 42inch curved Stedi light bar on top (turns night into bloody day). As for the suspension, it's handled everything I've thrown at her so not going to touch it except for bigger tyre in the near future. Cheers mate and happy 4x4ing..
