Currently in pre rasp rn, all I can say is stay decipined with a diet, stay lean but fit, and run a ton! Do as many push ups, situps, and pullups/chin ups as you can. Learn how to rope climb, and train up to running 5 miles in under 36 mins while still having energy left over, ex a ruck run or an obstacle course. Be mentally ready to adapt and have nothing get to your head. You won't have privacy and remember to respect your Cadre. Look up a ton about Ranger History. OSUT really won't be much compared to RASP.
@blazegulizack2 жыл бұрын
DO NOT rely on osut to get you into shape! I have an 18x contract and I'm in week 18. So far my run times and general fitness have dropped a little. Came in running a 12:48 2 mile and now it's a 13:30! They let us use the track 1nce a week,twice at the most! Show up with a 280-300 apft and aim to max it. It's on you 100% to keep up your fit ess here. Pt is a joke. Also I lost a lot of motivation. Most of the guys in my PLT are lazy and unmotivated as fuck! Plus the Drills stopped giving a fuck after basic..

I don't know where you are in your timeline, but Ranger and Special Forces are 2 different animals. If you haven't figured it out by now, do some research and make sure your getting the contract you want and not 18X by mistake. TLDR: 18X = Chance at SFAS Option 40 = Chance at RASP

I’ve been telling people the same thing… while you’re able, make sure to maximize your training and save the suck for when you have no other choice. Don’t worry about being ripped, or cold-tolerant, or sleep deprived. That’ll all happen when it happens.

The dumbbells' go from 5 -50 and the bench is very strong and well built .If there is an Aldi's near you check them out ...Great value for beginners like me again ...My ez curl bar disappeared about 30 yrs ago need to re find a used one ... Income is based on a 20 hour part time job plus social security .So I have to buy value and wisely... Currently they are offering a door hanging tricep rope pulldown . More relevant to ruck marching than strength training but I upped my game about a month ago by taking your supp advice from a previous video. Changes include: "alpha man" multivits every day (half dose because they seem pretty heavy on the NRVs). Protein shake every morning and night. Protein shake & BCAAs (2:1:1) immediately after every ruck (3-4 times per week, varying weight) and maltodextrin if I haven't preloaded carbs and need to load up quickly prior to exercise (this is rare, spinach penne pasta is my new favourite). Been hitting the same hill circuits for a while now but noticed definite changes since adopting the new supp routine. Legs are stronger and feel different in size (chafing pattern?). Got some creatine too but holding off on that for now. Cheers Gritty.

Always motivate my old body to work a little harder. Mailman delivered 9 line and 1st call right after I worked out an hour or so ago. I may be reading to much into this but I had a glass of the 9 line and I feel more energetic and alert. Hope this will be a normal reaction. Tommorrow is a ruck hike day. Looking forward to seeing how they work out.

How strong do you need to be to be a ranger? Will normal exercises weighted like push ups, pull ups, and sit ups and practicing rucking get me there? Or do I actually need to strength train with heavy weights? Or will I be strong enough just by training normal exercises with weight.

Thank you for doing this, Grit! I am retired- 8 years USMC (82-90), Army Reserve 'til 2005. Now a cop in AK. I'm coming up to 59 years old and have trained hard all my military life. I have shoulder and other injuries to contend with, and I have fallen out of shape, + somewhat overweight. NOT liking this "me" at all. I still have a shit-ton of my old equipment and have just started rucking again, watching you and Grunt Proof for advice. I have the heart, I have the desire, I just need to get the OOMPH back in this old carcass.... Do you have any advice for me?

To put more emphasis on the press itself, rather than as a complex movement. This will build more shoulder strength.

USAF Captain '86-'93 and lifelong rugby player. I have enjoyed watching your videos they are very well done. Look I don't mean to be a dick, but you have to have proper terminology. Unless you are planning to sing along to some Wayne Newton tune, the warmup where you shift feet back and front is called Carioca.

Mainly the angle yes, the incline bench works more the upper part of the pectorals (along with shoulders and triceps)
