Great advice. In my from my time in the infantry I always told people to get as fit as possible. And to learn how to do their own admin jobs. such as cleaning your room etc and clothes/ equipment. Get these things sorted and it helps, especially in the field. Great video, thank you.

I served in the British Army infantry (78-90). Very varied life. Rifle Coy to start. Mortars after 2y. Then COP (Op Banner, ‘hard routine’ close surveillance, ambush). 4 Banner tours. Recce Pln. JNCO. That’s a lot of roles, lot of learning. Lot of places.

Very informative video about the life and breakdown of an infantry platoon. I'm ex Scots guards and I think it's pretty accurate assessment about what to expect in battalion and how it's run at section and platoon level. I found it was the junior nco, s that actually ran the army not the officers, they were only a figurehead of authority and admin. Having a good platoon sergeant was a bonus because I found a lot of them turned jack once they got psbc under their belts. Congratulations on your promotion and posting to Sandhurst by the way. 😊

Some say that each generation fight wars in another way to previous generations, much because the methods of war change. Your experience is what will mould the next generation through instructing the next crop of officer leadership at Sandhurst. One of the most important jobs there is. Having watched some of your videos I think they are in good hands. All the best in that endeavour.

Would you say Junior and Senior Breacon is comparable to USA Army Ranger school (a leadership school) if not tougher?
@Rangermedia6 ай бұрын
I haven’t physically been on Ranger school so can’t comment from experience but from looking at it yes. It’s a leadership course but with a lot more funding, which allows the course to be more resourced. Different training areas, more air (helis) etc for some of the scenarios. IBS Brecon is definitely a tough school and all courses ran out of there do the job they are designed for. Going to be biased and say they are tougher! 😎
