@Nine_8838 ай бұрын
It’s probably good for a first bike. I was expecting a different ride. Had they let me test ride it before I bought it I would not have bought it. If I were you I would look into something like a Suzuki SV650. That’s a street only bike, but proven reliability. It’s plenty fast for a new rider and the power is easily handled as well. And it’s cheap. If you get a CRF300 you will be wanting something with more power for traffic in no time. Not to mention a light weight bike like a CRF300 can be terrifying for a new rider on the highway. You get blown all over the highway because it’s tall and very light. The center of gravity will have you teeter tottering in the wind and that will make you not want to ride it on windy days.
@mopteh8 ай бұрын
@@Nine_883 Hi there.. Ive had some scepticism on the rather low cc too. I bet you have a valid point in regards of wind too. Will keep that in mind. Thx for the consideration I actually did my license on the sv650 and absolutely loved it. However, Ive been long-distance bicycle travelling a lot for a decade and so and seek to take it further on a MC. So I need something that´ll be reliable on gravel roads and taking to a forest for camping etc. I know this bike might not be the most exciting on the highway but on the other hand ADVs often seem a bit heavy and pricy. Thought about short-term renting some different bikes throughtout the year before deciding

i’ve got the previous generation of the bike - a 2018 crf250L, and it is everything i want in a bike. i grew up on dirt bikes riding trails/gravel roads, so i really wanted a bike that wouldn’t make me give that up. sure, it’s cruising speed is a little low (which is why i’m eyeing the 300 for that small boost in power), but it is incredibly relaxing and freeing to ride, you stop focusing on going fast and can cruise while appreciating the beauty of nature around you, which i think is amazing

Great video! Just picked my CRF300L up from the dealership today to compliment my Tiger 800 xCx when I want a lighter bike on the dirt roads and trails. I was only able to put 40 miles on it this afternoon, but loving it so far! Obviously not as powerful as the Tiger (which is an awesome bike), but it is 150 pounds lighter!
@brett341510 ай бұрын
I've also got the Tiger xcx and thinking of the 300L as a second bike. I'd love to know more details of your thoughts and experience comparing the two and how they may compliment each other. I'm 6.2 and 100kg so I was worried about the bike maybe being too small. I've never ridden the 300L or even seen one in person as they get sold before even landing in the country here in South Africa. Besides being an alternative bike I am hoping to build skill and confidence on the smaller 300 which may translate to my XCX. If you willing to share, I'm all ears.

Hey Brett, I don’t have as much experience on the 300L as the original commenter but I am 6’2” as well and actually found the bike pretty comfortable. You could always add risers if you felt the need but I was pretty comfortable riding it for those two days and and off road. If I owned it I would do stiffer springs first.

I only have about 450 miles on the CRF300L so far versus 7,500 on the Tiger. It definitely took me a few miles just to get used to how differently the much lighter bike handles and reacts to minor inputs. I hadn’t ridden a small bike in over 35 years. I have had it off pavement mostly on dirt roads and forest service roads, so haven’t thoroughly thrashed it but even with my heavier than average weight, it does fine on those types of roads. I was wondering how it would do as a street bike on twisties when I take it to our cabin in the mountains vs the Tiger and I have been pleasantly surprised. While it certainly doesn’t compare to riding the much more powerful Triumph, it is was still extremely fun due to its lightweight and flickability. A buddy met me for a ride on Saturday on his Street Triple and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep up with him, but it really wasn’t an issue. I can do a few mph over 70 mph on flat pavement, sitting straight up so never really got left behind on the curves. I am 5’11” and about 30-40 pounds heavier than you and it has been comfortable enough for 2-3 hour rides, but it certainly isn’t as comfortable as my Tiger which I can ride all day without my backside protesting.

I own a Rally version for over a year now. For its price, you can't ask for more, and you really don't need any mods except for suspension (if your skills warrant it). And the second downside is that it's tad bit under-powered - it's difficult to make the rear wheel loose grip while cornering in a 2nd or 3rd gear (depends on the surface) if you want to do some power slide. That's all you really need to know. There's now an aftermarket big bore kit available which probably would make this bike perfect, but you would have to spend 1-2k $ for such upgrade.
@matts79752 ай бұрын
I don’t understand your point about a powerslide. I’ve seen videos of guys doing wheelies out of 2nd and 3rd. Seems it would have enough power then. “Depending on surface”, all the powerslide vids I see on dualsports occur in dirt.

Little bikes like the CRF300 and KLX250-300 are often overlooked by "serious" riders. But they are great fun and more capable than most riders realise. I have witnessed a friend of mine (much better rider than me) tackle full on trials type rock formations and obstacles with ease on a bine stock KLX 250S. My only beef with these small Japanese bikes is that they always leave the factory with low spec suspension, tuned for riders that weigh 150 lbs. How many full grown American/Canadian men do you know that weigh 150 lbs? I know they are trying to keep the cost down, but heavier spring rates wouldn't add much cost.

Awesome video dude, fantastic work with the filming (I know what it takes and you put the time in on this one;) Thinking about pulling the trigger on a 300 Rally or a 300 L, not sure which one yet, but would be looking to drive it across the country potentially and hit the trails.

Hey thanks for the kind words, much appreciated! Either bike will be great, if you’re gonna be doing more highway longer distance I’d probably do the rally, if you’re gonna be doing more off road tighter trail riding the L should be a bit better for ya 👍

Nice drone work. Thought I accidently clicked on a Honda commercial when it first started 🤣

Awesome video! Pacing along with videography and writing was very well done :) If there were any trails in my area this bike would definitely be at the top of my list.

It can do everything in the same way a basic pair of walking shoes will allow you to do almost everything. The biggest reason to change the bars is that it will give you better control and confidence. I went with risers and tusk chub bars.
