Positives- 3 points, clean sheet, Butland, Jefte and Barron! Negatives- No intensity at home, possession mostly in our own half, even though we kept a clean sheet, we give teams far too many shots at goal. Hibs should never come to Ibrox and have 18 shots. I'm hoping it's just one of those games after a European away match, but I feel like i've seen them performances under Clement far too often. When he said we will see a much better Rangers in October, I think he might have meant 2025.

I don't agree about Ross McCausland, Craig, that young lad just keeps improving and I was genuinely surprised that it was Ross who was substituted instead of Vaclav Cerny at half-time. You're right about Nico being subbed, he had that midfield shut down with Connor and disrupting that was a mistake. When you bring Kieran on you play him behind the striker and you'll get the best out of him, his link-up play is excellent. Things might have been difficult for your team recently, Craig, but the lads have ground out the results nonetheless. It's time for some of your support to leave the constant negativity to the biased mainstream media and get behind the team.

@alanmcnamara7643Ай бұрын
I'll start by saying that I'm delighted to get the 3 points because a win is a win. Now I get Clement's point about the kick off time as he spoke about in his aftermatch reaction and press conference BUT that does not excuse the fact that it was CLEMENT who chose the wrong starting 11. I've said it before and I'm going to keep saying it... you should ALWAYS start with your strongest 11, get the game won then bring on subs. Today was the PERFECT opportunity to drop Taverneir and play either Dujon or Nana at RB but ONCE AGAIN Clement BOTTLED it. Has Taverneir got nude pictures of him or something? Why can't he see what we all CLEARLY see? Just WHY? Taverneir CLEARLY slows us down and provides the opposition with a weak area to target. There is no chemistry between Taverneir and Cerny. As you say CJ, yes Cerny has not played particularly well in the last couple of games but for me, he is being told to change HIS NATURAL style of play to suit one guy, namely Taverneir. So I'll ask that question again; WHY???? His substitution of Raskin was baffling and all the more so when we saw that it was Dowell who was replacing him. After half time Connor Barron was basically left ALL ALONE to get to grips with the middle of the park. In the 1st half he had Raskin to help him in the 2nd half he had... no one because Dowel wandered wherever he wanted. Having 3RB's on the pitch at the SAME TIME was baffling and embarrassing. I said before that there are still questions to be asked about Clement's style of play (or lack thereof) and whether he had the balls to make the big calls.... well after today, those questions just got a whole lot LOUDER.
@jag2491Ай бұрын
100% RIGHT Alan, Clemente's subs etc. leave a lot to wonder about, his assessment of games is definitely a lot different from mine! Cerny for one has went back( excuse the pun, but that's all he did and for a winger that's no good!) since his first appearance for us. It's as if his natural play has been 'coached' out of him. I have to question is Clement right for the team, I hope so, as i quite like the guy, despite his somewhat weird decisions and selections.

He had the highest win-rate (57%) in J1. The only reason he failed to win the 2023-24 season was due to budget cuts and transfer losses like their League M.V.P., Tomoki Iwata, to Celtic. He inherited a skeleton squad from Postecoglou and made them cup double champions. He also qualified for the Ro16 of the ACL in a tough group with K League 1 Champions Incheon United and CSL-side Shandong Taishan. Shanghai Port lost just once in 25 games and leads the competition ahead of Shanghai Shenhua FC. Instead of long-balls, he does short and quick passes with 4-2-3-1 distribution with an emphasis on their full-backs. They are 67 points top of the table, two clear of Shenhua and dozens above third-place Chengdu Rongcheng at 55 points. 80 goals in 23 games which makes them one of the highest-scoring teams in world football, period. Higher than Ajax in the 2018-19 season. A goal difference of 54+ with only 18 conceded. Undefeated after 21 games and 16 consecutive wins across all competitions, which is a new record for the CSL. Muscat has won back-to-back manager of the month titles in May and June too. Even with an aging team averaging 30, he still makes the most out of his players. Former Espanyola player Wu Lei and former Chelsea player Oscar are his main front two alongside new Brazilian player Willian Popp. A system like his could greatly benefit our striker trio of Dessers, Danilo and Igamane. I could go on and on but you get the point. Muscat is a manager that strikes fear and his tactics are brilliant. Hard, attacking football - always pressing forward. That kind of mentality is what we need at Rangers. If you look at his most recent press conference in his draw against Malaysian-side Johor Darul Ta'zim, the journalists were too scared to even ask him a question. That's the aura that Clement lacks. He knows what it means to play for Rangers as a former player himself. He knows the club and the demands and expectations that come with it. Should have been a no-brainer. Eurocentric fans may overlook or disregard Asian football, but bare in mind Giovanni van Bronckhorst was manager of Guangzhou City and Ange Postecoglou was manager of Yokohama F・Marinos. Both have since won silverware in the SPFL and have taken their clubs to new heights respectively. Asian football has been growing a lot in competitive quality. Former Ross County player, Tim Chow, is now the captain of Chengdu Rongcheng. Shanghai Port play against K League 1 side Pohang Steelers in the ACLE East-zone Group Stages on the 1st of October if you are interested in watching. The season ends in November and they recently beat their city rivals Shanghai Shenhua 3-2 in the CFA Cup and are now off to the final against Shandong Taishan. The season ends in November, so full focus will be on Asian football after that. Vissel Kobe, Ulsan, Kawasaki Frontale, Gwangju and his former club Yokohama F・Marinos are among the teams they'll be playing against from now until February 2025. Muscat has been praised by Pep Guardiola and has also beaten Celtic 5-3 during their friendly tour of Japan last season too. Seriously, I cannot praise this man enough. You can watch most Shanghai Port games on either HotPot Football or JD Football on KZbin (in Mandarin) and the ACLE games on Triller (in English). One to keep a close eye on.

Comparing Tavernier to Ricksen. Is an insult. To Ricksen. Ricksen was EVERYTHING that Tavernier isn't.
@cjnovo992Ай бұрын
I don't think it's an insult, we moved one player who was struggling to perform at one position and played him more centrally where he didn't need to run as much It fits 🤷♀️ Not saying there the same players but we've reached a similar point

We are constantly worse in 2nd half of matches . Any chance we can ask the manager to stop speaking to the players at halftime ? Just a thought 👍

Dessers must've took about 15 minutes before his first touch. So about minute 70? I noticed it at the game it was ages since he decided to get playing.

Why are we so negative.....every time a forward or midfielder gets the ball how come they are facing our OWN goal? All passes are backwards, square or BEHIND the intended recipient slowing the whole momentum down. Every instinct from a Rangers player is to play the ball BACKWARDS. All of this HAS to come from the Manager. It took us around five minutes to actually get in to the Hibs half from our OWN kickoff! There is little or no direct urgency in our play.
@danderson8463Ай бұрын
Didn't catch the game today but I've been saying for weeks barron is the only player who doesn't pass a yard behind his target. We get in really dangerous areas and then inexplicably, five seconds later the ball is with our center halves. It's so cowardly, and a world away from big Phil's early pronouncements about positivity and decisive attacking intent

Would much rather we won ugly than not win at all. As frustrating as it can be, getting 3 points is the important thing

The big issue I have with clement is he is always talking about the future. But I don’t see any tangible improvement. It all just seems like the same loop. We should not be losing control of the game so badly against a team like Hibs at Ibrox, as you alluded to in your video. We should be stamping on their throats. Clement needs to start demanding improvements from his team NOW.

Thought hibs played very well today. they set up well, their shape made it hard for us to break them down. I don't often credit teams but they deserve some today. We were very under par, squad rotation will hinder momentum but it's got to be done, we got the job done and 3 points in the bag.
@jesusjohnny8286Ай бұрын
Look at the height difference. Hibs were a basketball team. Even the Korean is 6'4'. Decent result

For me CJ I dont think people realise how much this club and this fanbase need James Tavernier to move on from being a regular starter and the captain of this club, he is not even contributing on a playing level now never mind the "failure" label which he carrys, for me there is absolutely no reason to continue to shoehorn him into every starting 11 when we clearly have not only 1 but 2 starting RBs who will contribute far more than he does, put him on the bench, give the armband to Propper and lets as a team and as a fanbase move on from him HOnestly this will not be a "new project" that Clement calls it, until he's finally no longer a starter and captain. I think you need to keep up this narrative of dropping him because year after year we fall into this same habbit of arguing about tav, he has a purple patch of penalties and assists we all sort of accept him then without fail the usual bottle job and failure, nothing surer will happen.
@rossw119Ай бұрын
Well said, Tav cant continue - he unsettles the balance of the team now and others have to compensate for his shortcomings
@cankercanison92Ай бұрын
Unfortunately I don't see him ever being dropped unless he gets a bad enough injury that he can't play.
@robertrowan8738Ай бұрын
Tav knows that I think he would be happy to be on the bench, He has being getting steadily worse defensively for the last 2 years.
@kaiwilson3800Ай бұрын
Rotated so many players but hung Tav out there 😓

Nobody saying that Hibs playing two banks of four and playing that system well untill the goal. Its very hard to break down. This is something Rangers have to face week after week. Its nothing new but in years gone past we had mid field players that new how to un-lock a defence. And forwards that finished the job. Something across the city they know what to do. Good win anyway against a solid team. Well done Tom Lawrence and Mr Butland. 10/10 for Mr Barron, small guy , big heart for Rangers.

CJ im sill not a big fan of big phil ,he does make some odd decisions,i feel some of our first team dislike him,dont trust and dont like his style of play,look how many of our players are played out of position . ,and he just must see all other teams play down the flank of where tav plays ,so why is he allowing this to go on?, so mate your spot on here ,,,
