Academy is not worth having if we don’t cash in on good players or feed them into the first team neither of which we seem to be able to do, so in pure business terms this is a cost. Other Scottish teams seem to do this well as they have no other option than to use those academy players. Is it that due to our relentless need for success we can’t give these young lads an extended run ?
@yogaflame7884

The rangers fanbase play a big role in the lack of young players getting chances. Look what happened when tilman and diallo were trying to break through. Everybody could see how immensely talented they were but a huge section of the rangers support blamed every problem on them and called them crap. demanding a 35yr old scott arfield who couldnt even run at the time take their place. Well he did take their place and look how that turned out, several titles for celtic, and diallo and tilman are now at different clubs and top european talents worth 10s of millions of pounds.

@@daverutherford273 Of course, the man would run through brick walls for the club. But he wasnt the answer at that time, instead of giving the young lads time to develope we played old players infront of them which blocked their growth. Same thing were doing with tav atm also.

That's a fair point about the youth players... our fans are bad when things aren't going right... and unfortunately we typically see young players getting chances when things aren't so smooth on the pitch so they get introduced to the toxicity very quickly

A takeover or substantial stake could also be done through the route of a new share offering if the current board/regime were happy to remain as shareholders and agreed to it. Could devalue individual shares and would reduce shareholding control of the large shareholders though!

If our academy players aren't getting minutes with us, they should at least be asking to go out on loan and get 30-40 games under their belt. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but why is Leon King spending yet another season rotting on our bench or not being in the squad at all? Under Gio, he got thrown into the deep end in the UCL and got like 20 plus games that season and since then he's barely had a sniff.

Chris pointed out doubts over Igamane fitness wise. Perhaps he is correct. There shouldn't be any doubts over any first team players in terms of fitness, unless they are returning from time out. He isn't injured as far as I am aware now at this point. If he is fit enough to appear as a sub then he surelt has to be fully fit or near it and ready to go surely? I don't get where Chris's comment was coming from over Igamane? Or maybe thats indication of a bigger problem. It used to be the case unless players were fully fit and ready, they wouldn't play or be near the first team. All players should bave a great level of base fitness whether you are a sub or not, unless the player has been out injured. Igamane has been here long enough and featured enough, that would suggest he should be fit enough.

We have NEVER gave youth a chance even when we went down the pan. Is it any coincidence that we’ve always had a horrendous injury list too. Our fans are so impatient and it’s costing us as players try to develop are getting crucified by angry fans, frustrated with how the club is being run. Beating Celtic and winning trophies is great we all want that but we also want to see us improve in the likes of Europe and become a better football/ team/ club and a business and the youth set up is crucial to this happening. Like so many other things at Rangers it’s ain’t being done right. We really need to get this club someone at the top who can get us moving in the right direction.

We need to have more faith in our own and give them time. The quicker they can get first team football consistently, the quicker their talent will come through and develop and be worth money to us. The likes of Bailey Rice could play on rotation or as a sub. Lovelace as well would do well upfront if given opportunity. We always seem reticent to trust our own, instead wasting money on loans and guys who I don't see we are any better off for vs sticking with our own younger talents from the academy. We are wasting the resources we have to be sitting where we are. Why spend time having an academy if you don't give your best talents a chance. Even if they don't become first team star players and starters it would save us money on wages of squadders. The likes of Dowell and a few others come to mind. The other benefit is they will be died in the wool Rangers boys and Scots. I always feel players that really care for the badge go the extra mile. If anyone looks at the Italian league, yes they use foreigners, but they are very protective as a league over their own and always make sure their teams have an Italian identity. We should take note of that.

The fanbase have a lot to answer for when it comes to young players. I still remember tilman and diallo getting fully blamed for old firm losses despite only being teenage boys at the time. Our base doesnt give youth a chance, we never have. Only reason jefte hasnt been criticized yet is because hes been pretty much flawless since arriving. Otherwise hed be hounded out too. Its a very unrealistic standard to hold young players too. They need time and patience, our fanbase needs to learn this otherwise we'll keep signing 31yr olds with no resale value
@rangersnut
@rangersnut 7 сағат бұрын
@yogaflame7884 correct. Infact I think a lot of the fanbase is still in love with the Murray period foreign names we were getting and the truth is many of these foreign buys just aren't that much better and in many cases worse than what we would get from our own youth players and from Scottish players. It's time we had more of a Scottish identity, as well as a few good foreign talents.

@@rangersnut Thats a good point actually. I still see some people saying things like "get the cheque book out", its not the 90s anymore and some fans need to learn that. What they did across the city with oriley, frimpong, and other players is the model scottish teams need to follow. Not nice giving them credit but its the only sustainable system in scottish football. And with that system you need and must have patience otherwise these players will never grow. what happened to cerny last week was a disgrace and an example of what were talking about.

Does anyone ever stop and just think that none of the academy players are good enough for the first team. The manager will see them most days. No dounting in possession there are some talented kids, always been questions marks with rice and lowry about what they do without the ball. Maybe that's the main reason they don't play. Brought up in an environment with mccallum and and one point gilmour who won't pull them out their comfort zone and challenge them. The academy won't progress and start producing players until they are learning from the right people

the academy is a waste of time . young players will never be given a chance the way the SPL IS, a 12 team league where half the teams are fighting relgation, defensive negative football. we need a 16 team league with all the teams playing open attacking football like in other countries. Then you could give the young players a chance in the first team.
Have Rangers missed the Lennon Miller boat?
