Part of being a "better player " is work ethic / reaction times etc. Skill is just small part along with personality when signing players. If they don't have work ethic before you sign them, chances are they will not do it. Manager can ask as much as he wants but chances are it will not change. Because 99% of managers would ask for that, so why would this manager get different results .@@Aldo21574

It's a bit of both. Lack of talent and a losers' mentality coming from the phoney that is the "captain" and filtering down to any new players. If you take the Rangers team of the 90s any new players coming in would be exposed to that winning mentality and if they couldn't handle it, they'd be found out pretty quickly. It's the same now except the other way around. They are coming into a losers mentality. There was/is absolute no reason why it shouldn't have been tried without tavernier. Nothing to lose whatsoever. Only if it was a serial conning captain would you fear losing. It's madness to change 2 whole teams around this guy and neither work. It doesn't take a genius to work out he's a problem. Good show guys. One of the main things that stick out to me in these games is that Celtic’s CBs know they can squeeze the game as high as they want as we don’t have an out ball. Dessers gets rag dolled constantly by Scales and Carter Vickers, he can’t hold the ball up, he also isn’t good enough to drop in like Kyogo does and link the play and he can’t run in behind them either as he has no pace. It means it’s so easy for them to dominate us and get at our back four who can’t handle their attackers
@DanThomo10 күн бұрын

There has been way too much of this "we were great for 10 minutes". I could run a marathon, sprint top speed for first 100 metres, then talk about great I was for those first 100 metres. The conversation should be "We started well, and then....". To split the game in 2 is just a bad look. Every game of football is the same - one team always has a bit of pressure
@cutekanjii9 күн бұрын
Yeah, I mean the big dope himself famously said of the season, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Yet he doesn't have the same attitude about a game of football... it's 90 mins, NOT 12! It doesn't matter one jot if you were any good in the first 12 minutes of you lose the match. Doesn't matter if you're the best team for 88 mins, but it's still 0-0 and the other team score 2 goals in the last 2 mins. Plenty of matches you see Motherwell or Hibs get off to a good start vs the old firm for the first 15 20 mins, but how often do they keep it up for the entire game? So Clement is just making a complete fool of himself contradicting himself, and to be quite honest, it's alarming the naivety of it. It's like something a person who was very unfamiliar with professional football would come out with.

@johnlayden181511 күн бұрын
Celtic reacted to Rangers' tactics after 10 minutes. Rangers didn't react to Celtic's changes and were then overwhelmed so whatever the original game plan was went out of the window and spent most of the rest of the game back peddling. The defence is too slow and the forwards not committed enough to play a high press for 90 minutes, That was emphasised at the offside goal.

Why do we seem to lack the capacity to learn from our mistakes? Why aren't players coached to address these issues we see in the Rangers v Celtic games? The thing that stands out to me the most is why have 3 different Rangers managers failed to set up to counter Celtics tactics? Its fine being arrogant and going toe to toe directly when the quality is there but we don't have enough. Why dont we try something different to get the result? I would be keen on having 3-5-1-1 and trying to stifle their midfield service and hit them fast on the counter. All these managers that have a fixed system, thats all well and good but when the system isn't unlockingnthe other team, you have to change it, at least until you can up your teams quality.

Celtic love it when we play with high fullbacks. What we should do is keep our fullbacks at the back and keep our three forwards up top. Don't track back, and it will force Celtic's fullbacks to ease their attacks. Then we can build up play through the middle. If Celtic plays with high fullbacks, then they will be exposed with our forwards not defending.
@cutekanjii9 күн бұрын
I'd play a 5-3-2 like we used to play under Walter in the 90s vs celtic in some games. Make us hard to beat. I know we don't have the players we had then. Not the quality of defenders. However, it would at least protect us a bit. It's the worst Rangers squad I've ever seen even the caxhina and warbarton eras as those were what you'd expect really for a team just come up from the championship trying to re-establish itself. A weak squad made even weaker through injury and yet Dopey Dome can't work out its best to just try and sure up the back and hopefully start to frustrate them & their fans and maybe nick a goal.

@dmore7 күн бұрын
I don't think they do. If you compare Tavernier vs Maeda to Jefte vs Kuhn it's night and day. Tavernier's high, inverted movement forces Maeda to track back to help defend, whereas Jefte, who rarely pushed past the halfway line gave Kuhn the run of the left side. You can see it in their average positions, Maeda's is around the half way line and in, whereas Kuhn's is high up and wide. Celtic targeted the left side heavily in the first half, getting their joy with their cut back. We've not got the players yet to be able to build through the middle. That's a part of the problem. With what you're suggesting all the space would be in the mid-wide area, so there'd be no way to attack as the middle would be full and there'd be no one out wide 🤷🏻♂ Celtic would attack regardless as they have much more confidence.

The biggest problem at Rangers, is that nobody gets better once they arrive. The perfect example is Tavernier, if he had joined Celtic, he would have become a new Roberto Carlos and sold within 2/3 years for 25/30 million once he had become a better player, the guy is that good that with the right coaching earlier in his career at Celtic he would have ended up as captain at Real Madrid, I'm not a Rangers supporter, but for the life of me in the modern game, why do you suffocate talent ? Tavernier improved significantly over his time at Rangers. From when he arrived until seasons end 2022 it was completely an upward trajectory. @@edwardkent I'm sorry no, that's demonstrably false. The player who in 2022 owned the Europa League is not the same player who arrived at Rangers having played for NINE separate clubs with barely a goal or assist between them bar one productive spell at Rotherham. He developed significantly. His attributes can be tracked improving over time, including his defending until that peak when he began to regress as he aged and lost his pace. His conversation rates for things like free kicks improved as well. These are just static things you can look at one kick and tick off. You can't seriously think a player capable of the performances he gave over 2021-2022 is the same player that went through nine previous clubs with simply no one noticing him? As for the country note, context is king. Not only is he playing in a position England are especially strong in but during a period they as a nation are strong. He was reported as in the coaches standby list in 2022 when England had their sudden glut of injuries, but Southgate basically ignores Scotland so that was that. That aside plenty of Rangers Captains have faired little or not at all for their countries, most for similar reasons, top players in their positions and coaches who didn't rate Scotland. Stefan Klos was captain and nowhere near the Germany team. Amoruso had no caps and has talked at length about how he blames Trapattoni looking down at Scottish football for him not getting a call up. Paterson had no caps... I could go on.
