I applaud Willie Collum for trying to show that VAR are making an attempt to explain decisions to supporters. The fact remains that if a referee has bias to a side be it conscious or unconscious then these " honest mistakes" will still be made because whether the ref knows it or not he'll favour the side he has a bias towards and no amount of training can fix that. My other big problem is that until referees are made to show which club they support and have definitive proof to support the claim then it's a free for all. The last Glasgow Derby ref John Beaton a known Ibrox supporter and Andrew Dallas lead VAR a known Ibrox supporter, these guys should be nowhere a derby game again this goes back to bias be it conscious or unconscious it must affect decision making, there's no other league in the world where this would happen and that's why our ref's don't get chosen for big tournaments anymore because FIFA and UEFA know this and they're rank rotten as well. If the SFA and SPFL were serious about fixing the game they'd welcome a football regulator and clear both organisations from top to bottom and bring in football people without an agenda for or against certain teams, all any football supporter wants is a level playing field. I also think that we should adopt an NFL style of refereeing where the refs explain what the infringement was for and the appropriate punishment for a red card. For offsides and goals the refs could do the same it would mean fans in the stadium would know why it was offside, or if a goal was chopped off for a foul in an earlier phase or lead up to said goal, that way we'd know why a decision was made. We still might not like the outcome but at least that way there's a bit of transparency for supporters. I also think if a ref has made a mistake or a decision is subjective then they should be made to explain their decision after the game, they interview players and managers after games so why not referees?

@leasky3721Ай бұрын

The entire discussion in relation to this clip was talking about the nuance when it comes to awarding a hand ball in football. If an arm is tucked into the body then the player is doing his best to avoid contact with the ball. The next clip showed the Dundee derby and when it would be appropriate to award a handball. Proximity and how players are interacting with the opposition are key factors when it comes to awarding a penalty or a handball offence. I remember last season when John Lundstram was trying to defend in the box (can't remember who they were playing) and his arm was away from his body and a penalty was correctly awarded when the ball made contact with his arm.

His name is ross hardie he's from Dunoon and he's a detective constable. He's normally a ref in championship and league 1

Good to see transparency on this, but referees seriously need to improve Looking at the Aberdeen vs Killie situation why Nick Walsh doesn't play advantage as Aberdeen have a good attacking opportunity sums up how much of a clown he is

Would love them to back over the past few seasons and check penalties that The rangers got vs the ones Celtic got against them. You will see the bias . Hearts game they get a penalty, the exact same things happened up the other end and we got nothing

any idea why the var refs are so hyper with rangers games?
