Zeliangrong total land area is about 12,000 sq.km. almost the size of Nagaland State: comprising, Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland. NC Hills in Assam, Peren district in Nagaland, Tamenglong and Noney districts of Manipur. Their population by now is about, 5.5 lakh. Therefore, there has been a separate homeland demand for Zeliangrong people in the 1980s to 90s.

@user-kd8xo5ro1z Heraka is a primitive faith of our forefathers, not Hinduism or vice versa. You must understand this first. Christianity emerged only in the late 19th century in the North-East, India. Remember, before adopting Christianity, all of our ancestors followed animism. Christianity was not known to the Zeliangrong people. It was only in the early 20th century that they began to embrace it. Both Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu were against the alien rule ( British Raj). they revolted against the taxes levied upon the indigenous people and fought against the foreign culture and religion as well while safeguarding their age-old faith from extinction. Therefore, it is rather a revolt against the alien rule, not a religious campaign.

Yes, Nagas of Nagaland see her as a cult leader, which is not correct. Because her people ( Zeliangrong) were unaware of any foreign religion in those days. They were practicing their ancestral faiths. It is quite unfair to discredit her struggles on religious grounds. We should understand our history beyond the colonial period. Our forefathers, like other tribal follow animism before adopting Christianity. Christianity infact is a foreign religion that emerged in the 19th century in North-East India. I'm a Christian myself, but I fully understand Rani Gaidinliu's ideologies.

The Nagas region of Manipur had never been under any foreign rule. The State of Manipur was created without the knowledge or consent of the Naga people. And lastly visit Rani Gaidinliu Museum at Kohima and enjoy more schemes in the name of Rani Gaidinliu. Specially in Nagaland. If you're NSSB, NPSC aspirants prepare well on Rani Gaidinliu.... @joeGuizan That's our misconception and obsession over our faiths. Animism was practiced by our forefathers before embracing Christianity. What's wrong in defending/ promoting one's primitive faiths. It is wrong to perceive her struggles on religious perspective only. As a matter of fact, she's the only Naga woman to have being honored with the title, 'Rani' and the only freedom fighter among the Nagas recognized by India. Which isinfact, a matter of pride for Nagas. But, unfortunately, not so in Nagaland. Just because of her faith.

The title Rani was given by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru( late. P.M. of India) in honor of her contributions to India's freedom movement. Rani is a controversial figure, of course the indians term her as a freedom fighter but the old naga revolutionaries had many differences eith her. Nagas had stand for nagalim for christ but all she cares if iam not wrong is only confine among the zeliangrongs, even the ZUF who doesnt want anything to do with nagas but a seperate homeland for only zeliangrong people has a strong root with Rani gaidinleu. Haipu jadonang and rani founded the heraka movement which even hindus revered so i guess she cant be called a complete freedom fighter for the nagas, indians revered her, as for the nagas freedom from external colonialism and nagalim for christ was our root and aim. Her followers were mostly, Zeme, in Assam and Nagsland. Heraka is followed by Zeme as well. How can you ignore these facts. Whether she's Rongmei or Zeme, it's the same. I think you know our history. We once lived together as one people. Our ancestor, Nguiba, was not Rongmei, Zeme, or Langmai. We're three sibling brothers from one father; 1. Namgong ( eldest son) became the Zeme. 2. Kading ( middle) became the Liangmai. 3. Rembangbe( youngest) became the Rongmei. Therefore, we can't erase these history or separate the blood relation. Let's not forget who we are. No matter what others say.

Rani Gaidinliu and Haipau Jadonang has done enough for the Zeliangrong. Their leader was hanged to death for offering human sacrifice. The 2nd leader was rani who became a leader of heraka cult at 13 years n then it took a bad turn as it turned violent she was jailed in Shillong only to b released by nehru. Yes ,her actions will be patriotic from the indian pov but from the naga pov ,she never had nagas in mind from the start. N the story revolves around manipur n not nagaland. To boycott British laws in the Naga areas. 2. To reject any new religion. 3. To oppose the British administration that disturbed the customary laws and faith.4. To drive away the British from Naga territories.
