I've been told that the Automatic Talons were more desirable if you wanted big power out of these drivetrains. The motor would be less susceptible to crankwalk since there wasn't a clutch pushing up against the rotating assembly, specifically with the AWD's. Basically if you wanted a winning backyard drag car Talon, get an auto. That said, most guys I knew talking about "big power" also sometimes accidentally routed their 15 year old boost controllers up backwards, so.
@robbalinski1606 Жыл бұрын
The automatics are better because they hold vastly more power then the manuals with out anything done, 800hp on a stock auto is fine not going to hurt it.

Good video! I think it also depends on what region you plan on purchasing the car. Here in PA a good one goes for 12-18k. Rust is a huge issue here so people will pay a good amount of money to find one with little to no rust. I’m sure out in California or Arizona 8k is probably a good deal.

Honestly the M275 and mating transmission is one of the most reliable platforms. It’s really just the ABC system you have to worry about. A V12 twin turbo German sedan with close to 700ibs of torque for under 10k is a steal to some people.

4g63 IS interference, more than a few have been killed by neglected timing belts. Also rotted strut towers is a known issue on 2g's in particular, and while I'm sure it would indicate other rust it's entirely possible that the strut towers are the only thing rusted to the point of being compromised. In any case I'm glad I scooped up my rust free basketcase for $2.2k when they were still cheap.

I love my GSX, bought it in April 2022 non running, but only required a fuel pump + other stuff to get it back on the road, since then i've been daily driving it. Pulls hard and has no leaks, and if there is an issue that arises its usually something related to boost, so i had the money i'd switch over to FMIC w/ solid tubing so that its less prone to leaking from the couplers. other than that, very good. Only paid 3500 for mine nearly completely stock aside from transmission stuff that was done by the previous owner and the things that i've done to it this past year

Took awhile to get ones worth owning but now I've got a clean 98 tsi AWD, a texas 97 GST and a mint 1g talon awd with sub 100k miles on it. DSM's being said to be unrelable is a myth, never been stranded yet in a dsm. I just bought my new to me winter beater 96 awd talon for $1700 and drove it onto the trailer. Deals are out there, the people that moan about never finding good deals wont drive to get them or even look for them.

these guys dont understand the dsm market. you dont buy a clean complete running and driving car. you buy 3 unfinished projects loaded with good ,expensive parts then find a clean shell and build your own. then take the least rusty of the unfinished cars and finish it and sell it. and scrap the other 2 shells. all current dsms are made up of 3+ cars

@robbalinski1606 Жыл бұрын
Would have involved having to make a whole string of new parts and tool another assembly line to make right hand drive versions. Then there's crash testing that has to be done, emissions etc etc. The cost would have been far more then what it would have been worth for such a tiny market. Also why other right hand drive countries never got them. I'm shocked austrailia even got the mk2 supra honestly, toyota had to spend piles on designing and engine that made it threw aussie emissions. while everywhere else got the 5m-ge you guys got the even more anemic 5me engine.
