You need to avoid advertising this Chinese garbage... you will cheapen your channel by... association - think about it !
@izzieb11 ай бұрын
Not the most tasteful comment. I seem to remember one of Luke's relatives being Chinese (might have been his grandfather). I believe it was in one of his old videos.
@thedr.feelgood11 ай бұрын
I would not be expected to know that, and to be fair has no bearing whatsoever on what country these poorly made products have originated from.. Would you prefer that I had used another word for China ? If so please tell me which word to use in future..
@izzieb11 ай бұрын
@@thedr.feelgood By your own admission you say the country has no bearing , so why call it "Chinese garbage" that will cheapen his channel? Why not just say you don't want to advertise TEMUs garbage and be done with it? I don't think that's particularly disagreeable.
@TorqueSteer10 ай бұрын
Firstly, thank you for your comment. I appreciate your feedback. I understand (and respect) your perspective. However, I'm going to state my reasons for collaborations like these. Therefore, I am pinning this comment to the top. I also want to say that these views are mine and not representative of Temu. I realise that some people may not have a great impression from some of these online Chinese retailers. However, I seem to be able to find faults with almost all companies when I dig deep enough. For example, Amazon are known for poor treatment of their employees and warehouse operators within the UK. Apple may design their phones in California but they're made in China and I've also heard bad things about their working conditions. Rockstar games (makers of GTA) have been quite publicly shamed for the pressure they've placed upon their game developers (here in the UK and US). My point (addressing another comment about slave labour), is that poor working practices are sadly common place across the world. Do I wish that everyone has a good job with good conditions? Of course I do! Should I do extensive research into every company that I buy from? I feel that's a bit unrealistic. Even myself, working in manufacturing for Ford Motor Company within the UK, doesn't know the conditions of the Chinese suppliers that we buy our raw materials from, or the German companies we buy our machining from. The supply chain in most products is long from the raw materials to the customers door and it's hard (if not impossible) for a the consumer to know these stages. As for the comments about 'Chinese'. Yes, my grandfather was Chinese (making me 1/4). However I'm born and raised in the UK and unfortunately I don't even know one word of Chinese. So I do consider myself fully British in my culture. So, Izzieb, thank you for remembering my old videos and pointing it out, I appreciate your support, but I also agree with Dr Feelgood that he wasn't expected to know about that (but thanks for keeping it civil guys.) As for advertising for Companies. Firstly, I hope you understand that my channel has to make revenue as I want to try and take KZbin more and more seriously. This does mean that I have to work with sponsors but I hope that I can work with them in a way that provides value to everyone. One thing I won't do is endorse a product that I think is bad as I WILL NOT lead my audience to things that are not beneficial to them. You guys on here are very important to me and I would not repay your support with false promises. Therefore, I can't agree with the comment of 'Chinese garbage' as the review I provided was honest and I actually found most of the products to be good (of course that is just my opinion).

I'm glad you pinned this, i think this is a first in utube history. I've been in the comment sections of a lot of videos and I have NEVER EVER seen a paragraph (wtitten by a viewer) be replied to with an essay (written by creator) !!! The fact u pinned it and replied and responded in a polite and respectful manner so fair play all around Also I'm a big fan of ur channe mr torque

@TorqueSteer10 ай бұрын
Happy new year Nigel. I understand your concern. My advice is to use a virtual card. Some banks allow you to create temporary debit cards within the app and you can delete them afterwards. That way, companies never get access to your regular card information. I use Monzo bank which has that feature. It's been quite useful.

Thanks for the recommendations! Given that all car detailing stuff at my local Canadian Tire store is made in China anyways...this is a good alternative.

@TorqueSteer10 ай бұрын
Thank you. I'm glad you like it. I'm sorry that I've not updated anyone on the status of those cars. The 205 is still in my garage and I'm hoping to get back to it in the spring time (I just want to finish my camper first) and the BMW was actually mostly repaired and was back on the road, but I sold it because I liked my Volvo too much. However, it belongs to my friend who wants to give it a full respray, so I might try and show the results of that once it's done.

When can we expect some new car repair / fixing content from you Luke?

Good question :) Soon I hope. The weather has been dreadful making it quite unpleasant to work in. As soon as it gets clearer, I'm gonna start doing some work on the campervan and Alfa.

Unfortunately Luke, I have tried some of these products, for example the black gloves. Every glove has torn within minutes of doing any mechanical work. Theyre very thin. They're not very stretchy. Theyre terrible. Your testing said the opposite! I do feel your channel has succumbed to low quality marketing of low quality products. Such a shame. I really loved your early car related stuff.
@TorqueSteer7 ай бұрын
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about the gloves and thank you for your constructive feedback. Honestly the batch I had/have has been great. I'll give you my word that everything I said in this video has been honest (as I hope you also seen that I didn't recommend some products too). As for the car related stuff, I'm currently releasing a video every Friday that is just focusing on the cars (not reviews or paid promotions, etc). So please check out my video feed in case KZbin isn't recommending those videos to you.
