Hot take, Koeman isnt even a bad manager, he did great at Ajax in the early zero's, got the most out of an mediocre Feyenoord squad. And was amazing at Southampton. His Barca days may be controversial, but he set a lot of the foundations for their "ressuraction". He got a demotivated Messi and had to play Brentwaith, Jutlga, Mingueza as starters. He was never backed by Laporta because he was elected by Bartomeu. Furthermore his first stint as Tye Netherlands manager, was the best football The Netherlands played since 2014, beating France, Germany twice and won against England. Not saying he is a world class manager, but landing topjobs for over 20 years isn't a fluke.

This is one of those times where I really get reminded of my age. I used to follow international club football back in the 90s and 00s and haven't really come to terms with how much time has passed since then. So when I see the big clubs playing now I often think ohhh where's Batistuta? Davor Suker? Maldini? Shevchenko? Romario? Bebeto? Klinsmann? Koeman? And then it hits me that these guys are now all in their 50's or even 60's. Just finished watching, damn, I feel unbelievably old.

Yes. And what a squad he was part of at international level around the 1988-1992 period. Maybe they were too good and disparate to make a great team but on paper....Stojkovic, Boban, Prosinecki, Susic, Pancev, Katanec, Boksic, Jarni, Savicevic, Suker, Vujovic, Hadzibegic, Jokanovic, Jugovic, Mijatovic, Mihaljovic. That's a lot of Yugoslav talent from ages 18-33 in 1988. Maybe, sometimes, it's difficult with so much talent to make a team? Or - more likely - the fact Yugoslavia was about to be torn umpteen ways meant that the cohesion wasn't great in the team? Either way...talk about a hotbed of talent.

😂 Bro stop it Stojkovic WAS 4 TIME TOP LEVEL PLAYER ON THE BALLON D ORR LIST He was top 5 best players on the World 1987-1991 and probably best player on the World 1989-1990. He was better in prime than anybody even outplayed Maradona Didier and Koeman never been even top 30 best players in the World Stojkovic was insane in period 1986-1991. He was also in best 11 of the World Cup. He was literally best player in the World Cup 1990 with Lothar Matheus. If Jugoslavia had more luck on the penalty against Argentina he would be the best player of the tournament. He is another dimension for Koeman and Didier lmfao. Jugo league was very stronger in 80 ies. His career much better than you know 1 Champions league + 1 more finale Olimpic medal 4x Ballon d orr list Top 11 World Cup 1990 Top 11 European Cup 1984 Im 1998, 1989 and 1990 he was better than ANYBODY in his prime, better than Gulit, Basten, Matheus etc He was Messi before Messi except with better passing and less goal scoring If he was English or German or Brasilian-- he would be much more famouse Jugoslavija had a war and he couldnt play in 1992, 1994, 1996

GKS - Oblak, Lunin RB - Couffal, Maehle CB - Skriniar, Milenkovic, Gvardiol, Rudiger, Bastoni LB - Robertson, Rodriguez MD - Asilani, Szoboszlai, Calhanoglu, Laimar, Rodri, Bellingham WG - Kvaratskhelia, Man, Depay, Mbappe, Doku FW - Lewandowski, Ronaldo

it's a shame that a Serb made a mistake about the team of his country... in the video it is well explained that Stojkovic at that moment played for Marseille and in the final he refused to take penalty against Red Star. But what isn't known, it wasn't because of love to his former club, it was because he was subbed in 112. minute. He was mad at coach because he played great prior this final.

Totally agree with the Roberto Martinez take. I feel like for some reason there's this narrative that he's a failure when he has accomplished quite a lot. Even with Belgium people seem to frown at him literally finishing 3rd in a World Cup on merit... like it's just weird to me. I don't get why he's so underrated despite having achieved success. Sure, he isn't a top coach, but so? He's still good at what he does. Maybe it's because people thought of him higher before when his stock was high and were disappointed so he's now widely rated low? No idea

I guess the young coaches prove that clubs also scout potential coaching talent at their academies/youth level too, after all you need somebody to coach U6, U8 and all the later age groups and if you are good, you can quickly rise up the ranks

Today I learned, that I played at the same level as Domenico Tedesco, I even played togeteher with some players who now play for Heilbronn, kinda funny to see one of my former teammates in the video, and I've also been coaching the U6 and U9 at my local club for the past five years, here in Baden-Württemberg. You'll see me at Euro 2040 I guess.

I feel I need to say here, FIFA 97 was the fourth edition of the EA Sports franchise, not the second. I owned and loved FIFA International Soccer on Sega Mega Drive from 1993 (Webster!), then we had FIFA 95 and FIFA 96 too. FIFA 97 also came out on Mega Drive. I was mainly nagging my parents to get a PlayStation when FIFA 98 didn't come out on the Mega Drive, and was PlayStation only.
