I second this. Essentially segmenting tournament play by the quality of the decks would allow for a lot of fun. Most rogue decks nowadays need to play cards like DPE or Scythe just to not be eradicated by the current meta, so forming a tournament like this would allow for fun and unique deck building, since they would only need to compete with other decks on their level.

Super Quantal definitely feels too low, there's a regular Chalislime player called Cursed-Eyes who's seen great results with them in recent times using a build featuring Trias Hierarchia and Diviner of the Herald. It has some genuinely good cards like Red Layer (a FIRE Warrior that Special Summons itself and searches, has seen play in everything from Monarchs to Gouki to Infernobles), Magnacarrier (enabler of 1-card Xyzes in the vein of Zoodiac, but for a discard), Magnaliger (which is like a proto-Dingirsu), Grampulse (Rank 3 with an MST effect, is a Tornado Dragon if Blue Layer under it) and Great Magnus (3400 ATK unaffected Colossus with Quick Effect non-targeting spin). It's a shame Hunders haven't gotten a Link Monster or something, they were topping consistently including a YCS top circa 2013/14. I wonder what an optimized modern build would look like. Vylon Prism lets them go into Level 8 Synchros like Chaos Ruler that they could make use of, and they had a lot of room for techs that they'd use for backrow back then but nowadays could use for handtraps. Thunder King Rai-Oh and Denkko Sekka are still a threat to a lot of decks. There's a PK Xyz Djinn variant do some pretty nutty things using Humhumming and Infernity Conjurer for easy Utopic Draco Future and Requiem Dragon. You can see it on MST.TV's channel courtesy of Vanilla Spice. The Shinobird Rituals can be great boardbreakers as they spin 3 cards and tutor Amano-Iwato ignoring Summoning conditions, and since Amano was Special Summoned it stays on-board. You can use them with Impcantations and/or Drytrons. Koa'ki Meiru is such a weird archetype as so many of its monsters have been relevant alongside their respective types, but they mesh very poorly with eachother. Guardian is such an important part of Adamancipators though. Volcanics have Rokket, Shell, Scattershot, Blaze Accelerator Reload and make for a decent Trap deck. They have more synergy with DPE than Shaddoll, and are good with Paleos in general as Shell grants a free Dinomischus and Scattershot can be used for Rank 2s. Just some comments based on my experience of these archetypes, idk if they'd change anything. Kuribohs and Penguins at tier 2, and Counter Fairies, Volcanics, Spellbooks, Super Quants and GKs at tier 3 feel a little low to me as they involve floodgates and/or advantage engines that are still relevant to the current game. This is a very ambitious project so kudos.
@shawnjavery2 жыл бұрын
Quants always felt like they were this close to being playable. White layer is an absurd card, but they don't have one card combos and their set ups are just a little bit too janky to see consistent play. I used them as an orcust engine with mermaid legal, it worked better than you'd think.

Destiny Board is such a neat concept. I wish they would give it some absolutely broken support. I wouldn’t mind taking a loss to it every now and then. It’s kinda hard to get mad about it unlike FTKs, Mystic Mine, etc. I think as long as that back and forth between the opponent’s deck is there it wouldn’t be considered degenerate. It doesn’t need to be overly consistent or anything either, which would keep it in check and make it seem fair, just good enough to win if you do happen to draw into it’s full combo. I went against one or two on my way to platinum and once I figured out what deck i was up against I just passed my turn a few times in a row in order to give the guy a chance. Then I started actually playing the game and they were done the very next turn because the deck doesn’t actually do anything at the end of the day. It’s kinda sad how bad it is. I hope they give it more of a buff one day.

I got the deck list back then, and I can honestly say that the deck always puts 1-2 Stardust Dragon/Attack Mode on the field. I also regularly upgraded the deck with new cards. All the new support cards can always search for each other, search for an "attackmode activate" to activate and set their level so that you always reach level 8 with 2 monsters. It is really strong.

Run phantom knights traps with moon mirror shield on the snakes along with floodgates like vanity's emptiness or lose one turn and hoo boy. It was such a strange setup but when it worked it was absolutely hilarious. I named it "Shrek's Swamp". But yeah. Venoms need EVERYTHING they can get. I love the idea of slowly poisoning an opponent but the game is too fast nowadays. Great video! Subbed.

The funniest thing about Umbral Horrors is that in the anime, the character who plays them had to outright *break the rules* just to put three level 4s on the field to make his boss monster. Which isn't even terribly broken for that era of Yugioh--plenty of other Zexal decks can do it easily--the deck is just THAT BAD. It wasn't even a matter of cards doing different things in the anime, like the card text was a bit different but it was just a straight up illegal interaction. Absolutely hysterical, 10/10 deck. I want it to get support just for the meme, at this point. It was episode 23 of Zexal II. IIRC he summoned two monsters off Ghoul. Yuma should have called a judge.

Of all of the archetypes shown in this video, the one I most want to get actual support is Celtic Guard. Celtic Guard is one of my favorite normals, and I'd love a chance to run it in something that isn't generic Warrior toolbox that's running it as a bad Dai target. And while I get that Noble Knights are also in that sort of "cool fantasy knight wielding weapons" style, I don't think I want them to become a total crossover archetype, like Photon Galaxy. I'd really like Celtic Guard to stand on its own. Charmer is one of those decks where I like the concept and I like the themeing, but honestly I just wanna run every version of Aussa and toss away the rest, lmao. She's my favorite but most Charmer support assumes you're spamming the whole crew. Like I know it's dumb to want to play just one part of a four-creature lineup but I would give anything to be able to go Full Aussa Earth Beatdown. People will often tell you "Superheavy Samurai can run any Spell/Trap that banishes itself out of the graveyard for an effect! Since they remove themselves from your graveyard you'll get their effects and then keep them out of your graveyard!" These people are gremlins and should not be trusted. The only good use of that is Light of Sekka and even that's a little mixed. If you want to play Superheavy Samurai, you may as well just go deep into it. The first time you ever run into the problem of "I can't banish this out of my graveyard in time and I really need this effect that's shut off by a spell/trap in the graveyard", you will never want to try teching banish spell/traps into SHS ever again.

FINALY SOMEONE THAT DID A VIDEO LIKE THIS, I was searching for this for some time. A few things about decks you talked about in this video I have been playing for ages: -Destiny Board is shitty but is very elastic in his playstyle, if they destroy your Destiny Board and Spirit Message is no problem at all, you can reshuffle them back with the spell and draw for each, also with 3 skill drain and with the strong synergy of the deck with the fiend type you can actualy play Lilith, Lava Golem and other monsters to make Destiny Board adaptable, with cards like Prosperity and Extravagance is not even inconsistent, butif you don't draw Skill Drain or a way to set Mystic Mine (there are a few) you are gonna lose most times so I admit its still a shitty deck but its not 1/10. -Constellar is super weak on its own but its power is the xyz adaptability, thanks to Gaia, Ptolemy or Satellarnight xyz you can throw 6 material Zeus like nothing, the best way to play it is to build it going second OTK with Utopia Double in the main and full going first artifact in the side, Artifacts works stellarly with Constellar (see what I did there) because Scythe is a LV5 light that can be first summoned to lock your opponent and then used to xyz summon and otk easily. If Utopia fails in game 1 you just summon a Zeus with 6 materials, lukily the deck has lot of space so it can play 20 board breaker. -Hunder is super slow and need a turn to set up but its strenght is not much its recycle of cards or lv4 spam but how it can play so well with a lot of power cards like Rai-oh (cause its thunder can be summoned by other Hunders), TT, honest + double or nothing because even going first it can OTK turn 2, lightning storm cause it usualy ends up with a good setup but no face-up cards at the start of your second turn, basically it works with every staples -Worm is trash, its one of those decks what were made before synergy from cards of the same archetype was a thing, only the trap is decent but not even much, I tried everything to make it work, it just doesnt, you give it to much credit -If build properly with machine dup, DPE, prosperity and skill drain Malefic are almost a combo deck, they are weak as fuck to interuptions but the consistency is not that bad and it can end up with some huge board like Baroness+DPE+Shenshen+generic 4K atk. Its surely not a beatdown deck. -You described Vylon perfectly, nothing to say. -I would agree pure Spellbook is bad except for the existance of Dragoon, being spellcaster that card can synergize with every spellbook except Power, best way to play it is to play magicians souls and other spellcaster extenders other can a fuckton of spellbook, you are gonna go into a little combo with with link of archetype and Selene, also you can abuse Knowledge with Life and Fate to get free +1, if you play it going second with evenly match and nibiru is not pretty effective and you can side op cards like Spellcaster Village -Gravekkeper is okaycause it can spam Dragoon turn 1 and play winning conditions cards like Royal Tribute and Hidden Temple after side, main monsters are bad, the one you are talking about is Spy and is not even played

@@BDT17 true but Lyna and maybe Dharc level 3 are probably the more subtle use of the others to use more just to see if you are able to summon their FP forms from the deck to activate their search effects. Just hoping there's a support card that prevents cards from activating when a Charmer effect activates since their effects can be slow and it's a target effect. Lyna's and Dharc's familiar still need their retrain and I think with these two coming out they would be most effective in the deck. Seeing that they can make the field spell more consistent, the level 4 forms would have amazing extensions and search effects when sent to the GY, and the level 5 forms would just have the effects of the Spiritual Art traps without the cost (Light special summons a banished monster, Dark draws 2 cards), they can make the deck alot more viable with the resources they have now. The only other thing is that we would need a card that searches the field spell as well as the quick-play spell.

I gotta disagree with the shitting on metaphys. admittedly the deck folds super hard to negates, but metaphys daedalus can banish your opponents entire field fairly reguarly. you seemed to give the impression the only gameplan it has is swarming with big attack numbers and honestly that's just not how the deck is played, to the point where most people don't even run the field spell that lets you normal the big guys without tributing because they don't get their effects that way. honestly I just wish they would get some support that lets you use their nuke effects at times other than the standby phase and battle phase. I honestly think that would be enough to make them a decent casual deck. more low level monsters might be nice too, but honestly aloof lupine and necroface are already really good for the deck.

Majority of my duels were also against Blue-Eyes so it was just easy wins from there.

As a Gimmick Deck Connoisseur, I only play the most hottest of garbage. Like Law of the Normal, Huge Revulation, Mokey Mokey Beatdown, Blackland Fire Dragon Torbo, Itsu Beatdown. Their are two ways to play the game the fun way(aka Causal), and the efficient way(aka Meta). I'm able to see both sides in more Causal play I'll put down the power cards and play a bit more on the goofy side, and in tournaments I'll play whatever I can have fun with or use something that's not being really focused on in the Meta currently just to make things more interesting. One of my favorite decks of all time are Goblins just cause I can have a lot of fun with playing bad decks, while I can also enjoy decks like D/D/D, Monarchs, and World Chalice. I do like how you can fine something good to say about most decks, when so many people I know these days call a deck bad by default since it's not Meta. Keep up the good work Dude.

Honestly Aquaactress desperately needs support and I really want to see it get it. It's a really cool deck that makes Wetlands Beat down a more threatening strategy, it just doesn't have enough cards to make anything it does viable, and the level 6 being the searcher is genuinely just terrible

Something I've noticed is that the power of a lot of these decks is often contextual, for example, my group mostly plays Tier 4-5 decks with a lot of meta cards like Ash Blossom on the ban list, and in that format, tier 2 decks like Constellars and Jurracs have been able to compete with Tier 4-5's like Ice Barrier and Magnet Warior/Fossil decks.

Correction on the Vylon portion, Epsilon isn't the card that special summons a tuner, that's Vylon Element. But yeah the deck is super vulnerable. But if you're able to get the Halq combo off, you can end on some pretty nice boards of Vylon Omega + Baronne + Dweller. Vylon support when Konami?

Assault Mode isn’t a good deck, but similarly to Invoked it’s a decent engine for any deck that doesn’t need its normal summon. 3 Psi-Reflector, 3 Assault Sentinel, 1 Assault Beast, 1 Assault Mode Activate, and maybe Fire Formation - Tenki. It gives you access to the whole pool of level 6-9 Synchro monsters that require only 1 non-tuner. Assault Sentinel even lets you make some with restricted materials since it can change either it or Psi-Reflector’s type and attribute. If you’re feeling really spicy you can bump it up to 2 Assault Mode Activates and include a Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode, but generally that’s not a great idea. It is funny, though

I use watts in master duel and yea they aren't top tier or anything, but dude it's so funny seeing the confusion in people's plays when you successfully hopper-lock someone that's never encountered it before, and pairing it with a few thunder dragons and opening with Colossus is just funny to use that just to support your wattcobra. It's just a fun deck that while not super consistent, is consistent enough to be a lot of fun.

I will say, you went WAAAAY too hard on -Eyes Restrict. The deck's basically the modern take on Village Stun, allowing you to deny Spells with Secret Village as you keep your L1 Spellcaster on the field. The difference ends up being that while you USED to rush to Decree to lock traps and use Releaser Djinn to deny special summons, nowadays you don't care about Traps (they're too infrequent to main an answer to) and you use Millennium to deny the opponent's monster effects. It uses Illusionist cards for what's functionally quickplay equip on a hand trap and the floating from Faceless means that even if they DO get a way to destroy you (with a monster eff that doesn't go off on field/in GY), you still deny their spells. Then, when Faceless dies and special summons MER again, you get your hand trap back for a take, so your opponent can't just ignore monster effects and beat over your monster. Don't get me wrong, it's not a GOOD deck, but it should at LEAST have been Tier 4-5 instead of Tier 1. Edit: /Assault Mode is a deck of literally 13 1-card synchro plays that also searches AMA. Even if you draw your /AM monster(s) (1-2 SAMs, 1 TGAM if you wanna play Reboot), you can search Assault Mode Zero to unblrick it and then you back up your SAMs with SkD and Mound of the Bound creator and it's surprisingly effective. Again, easy Tier 4.

In defense of Kuriboh, their deck is a bit more resilient (doesn't make them less bricky) as it's full of handtraps. Kuribohrn has the potential to swarm the field immediately on the opponent Battle Phase and, if 2 or more Kuri survive, next turn could be an easy Rank 1 with Numbers using Number Archive or Link 2+ summon. They are heavily dependent on Extra deck or an engine that can take advantage of their summon power (may be able to survive Nibiru). They can also run Relinkuriboh (albeit being extremely slow), for a bit of draw power using it for summoning a GY Linkuriboh for insurance or Tribute Summon Vanity's Fiend for SS Lockdown; OR, as i always mention, going full Link 4 for a Saryuja, getting all its effects (Add 1 of 4 excavates, SS from hand, gaining ATK). I love these furballs, and i know they'll never be meta, but they are really fun to play.

I used to play a Hazy Flame deck and by far the best build is Evolzar Solda Turbo using Peryton to summon two Hydra to the field and making a 4 material Solda which can actually straight up win you some games. If you somehow manage to get a 5 material Basiltrice on the field it can beat some decks too. Main problem is that both strategies lose to either one Ash Blossom or One Kaiju.

Gravekeeper corrections: Hidden Temples of Necrovalley (aka continuous spell that can stop special summoning) is actually searchable. Granted, you can only search for it with the Fusion monster and be forced to wait a turn to use it because of that. Also, only 2 of the main deck monsters are Flip monsters (3 if you count Ambusher).

One thing I have to say is vehicroids can run skill drain at 3 in a very neat way because of megaroid city the only vehicroid on field who's effect you'll activate is mixeroid and submarine roid in terms of main deck so you can setup a megaroid city and skill drain and hold out till you set up your board using cards like ready fusion in combination with searching connection zone to get out mobile base as a 5k beatstick when you swap it with the field spell and then when you want skill drain gone you can use the field spell to pop it for a +1 which in all honesty could just be dragonroid to add whatever roid monster you want helping to fill the grave for mixerroid
