I think 'Lunch at the Gotham Cafe' is one of the funniest things I've ever read. Sai King and I agree that the divorcing couple are the mad ones. The phrase 'all that you love will be carried away' has stuck with me far more than the story it came from. 1408 was a brilliant short story, the movie made it just another haunting when it really, really wasn't.

Recently read this! I loved it! I'll rank them here. 14: The Death of Jack Hamilton (Idk, just didn't really engage with this one) 13: LT's Theory of Pets (It was fine but it never hooked me or made me laugh in any way) 12: Luckey Quarter (Fine for what it is, but it's got no meat on the bones to get any higher) 11: All That You Love Will Be Carried Away (Pretty nice story, just not one that I have any real desire to come back to) 10: Riding the Bullet (Really good! Just isn't as good as the rest of the stories) 9: In The Deathroom (A fun, tense, and even feel good story) 8: The Little Sisters of Eluria (Really great, but it has no real impact on the series, so it's a little pointless) 7: The Man in the Black Suit (Tense and creepy but also feels like a 50s b movie of some sorts, which I love) 6: Everything's Eventual (Really fleshes out Dinky's character, and I was just entranced by his bizarre living situation) 5: Autopsy Room Four (Nail biting tension, and a hilarious ending that I will never forget) 4: Lunch at the Gotham Cafe (Loved the set up, and the whole Maitre D sequence was both tense and fun) 3: That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is In French (Thought it was just fine when reading, but the implications are so scary, it never left my mind) 2: 1408 (Like you, I prefer the movie, but the story is a really spooky time in it's own right) 1: The Road Virus Heads North (Again, I thought it was just fine when reading it, but by the time I realised what was going on, it quickly shot up my list!)

@@BookishDrummer oh buddy, I really love almost everything, but if I were to choose I would say that are: Riding the bullet or the man in the black suit

The Road Virus Heads Northis the scariest of the bunch for me. recently relistened it and its the story that I can recount most easily and gives me the most chills so tops my list :)

Great list! I loved The Road Virus Heads North, but can understand why it is ranked so low. 1408 is terrifying, and I agree, the movie is better than the book. I enjoyed this video!

That’s a euphemism I picked up from Stacey lol its basically a fake swear from her days working at McDonald’s lol you use it to call something annoying or stupid

If you are more into slapstick humour then The average person then The Man in black will be top 5 but for me I hate slapstick in visual media but on paper I love it 😅
