Enjoyed your presentation. Always check ingredients in cat food for good, specific protein sources and high biological value proteins as first ingredients. Also check that cat treats have more animal proteins and vitamins. I also avoid anything with animal byproducts, and other junk. I stopped going by brand names long ago. Hills science, Royal canin, and a lot cat foods have too many inappropriate ingredients for cats. I use Tiki cat wet foods& similar wet foods, some limited Nulo & other higher animal protein dry cat food, some meaty cat broths to add flavor/moisture to dry foods. I also buy most of my cats’ wet foods with pumpkin and add additional pumpkin occasionally. 2 cats are 14 so I’ve been adding some water to their wet food for hydration since my male cat has had a couple UTIs in past and once had constipation. Learned some new things from your talk also. Wish others would read ingredients on labels carefully and not just go by brand names. I’m a retired Registered dietitian so label reading is second nature. I think Veterinarians need to become more educated about animal nutrition and stop pushing Hills science and similar cat foods. Good video and very thorough. In the US, "meal" is a rendered product that has been cooked at high temperature and pressure. A big no for my cats. The #1 selling cat food is Purina Cat Chow. Its first few ingredients are: Chicken By-Product Meal, Ground Yellow Corn, Corn Gluten Meal, Whole Grain Wheat, Rice, Soy Flour, Salt. The first few ingredients for Corn Chex breakfast cereal: Corn Meal, Whole Grain Corn, Sugar, Corn Starch, Salt. You and your cats can get fat together! LOL My cats eat mostly fresh chicken thighs and ground beef. They also eat grain free wet cat food, low in calcium and phosphorus as a supplement. For treats, they get one ingredient, dehydrated real chicken.

Orijen for me looks good as well and that was my first choice but... My cat after eating them have a big problem with stomach. He start to vomiting. For long time I wasnt sure what was the problem. Vets couldnt help me because all with his healts was alright. But vomiting every day couple times was now normal for me... When Orijen kibble was almost finish I stop giving him that and vomiting stops immediately. So personally I dont recommend Orijen :(

Wow, what an amazing video! I learned so much. My only fear to change my cat food is my guys are on precripion food for St/Ox stone prevention . BUT, now I see the first three ingredients are " Corn Gluten Meal, poultry by-product meal, and rice!!! I pay almost $100 for this junk!!! PLEASE do a video on how to safely replace a prescription food ❤

Hey I am living in Uae. I tried this Pro nutrition PRESTIGE cat food. My cat has adapted to it very fastly and I see my cat is more active now. Before my cat has formation of hairballs. Now it has very shiny hair and no balls . Its high protein level is very healthy for cat and their foods are grain free

Orijen seems to have great ingredients, but they were sued over something to do with heavy metals. I believe the case was dismissed, but I’m still a little concerned about that. Do you have any comment on that case, or more generally, heavy metals in pet food? Are they just naturally occurring, and not the same thing as industrial heavy metals? Is there a way, as a consumer, to be confident that the pet food you buy doesn’t contain harmful levels of heavy metals or other contaminants?

My cat likes dry Meow Mix but gets very sick for a week everytime he eats it..I give him kit&kaboodle and Frisky sensations..He likes them and they don't make him sick.

Friskies and Purina once were separate made by same company from Switzerland and my cats . I was getting sick right after she ate either brand. She couldn't evidently break it down. She's the canary. I found a super deal from the Barain Hunt, $5 for the cat food Solid Gold. It's grain free and gluten free. Ingredients: chicken meal,potatos,Canola oils a preservative, plenty of fruit etc. Herbs and viamin supplements butt no corn. It has 1-2 ingredients he Saud no good. It came close to a veterinarian cat brand too expensive fir me. Then Buttons hasn't thrown up since. I looked ymup this brand uts going $28-45 for 6lbs/272KG. I brought 2 months worth. A bag lasts approximately 1 1/2 wk. I won't go back to Purina and Friskies. They're cheap w/o care for cats health. But I can't pay $112 a month. I keep my cats in the best flea med for flea, mites, intestinal worms that sane price. So I'm off to the store today. Thanks to this guy, I just saw you 1st time today. I hopefully can find some brand to replace this one. Please keep up the good work. We need more people like yourself.
