Crazy how the majority of southside stations are highway median stations. Urban renewal and disinvestment bulldozed those neighborhoods for the highways.
@remixdiamond2276 Жыл бұрын
Actually the Highway came way earlier with Subway Route plan in mind most highway in America were like this but the Blue line Congress branch was fuck over it was supposed to be 4 track they push it back to 2 for more lane on the highway instead same with Patco and Lirr their where a lot of proposal for route to go into the middle of highway it not great in terms but one thing I can say at the CTA built the LKR their design had improved and looked incredible which kick off to other city to follow behind but never pull thought

It's because they feel like they can get away with doing this to the black neighborhoods.
@Truewinner1125 ай бұрын
No it’s not. Most of the blue stations are highway median and they aren’t bad. It’s not crazy
@Truewinner1125 ай бұрын
@@ddd7254 no they don’t
@ddd72545 ай бұрын
@@Truewinner112 They factually do. That's why CTA runs smaller schedules in those neighborhoods, refuses to use more of Stony Island and Cicero to expand rail infrastructure, and are just now building rail to the southern city limit.

One time I was at Howard transferring from Purple to Red and there was a woman sitting on a bench feeding and talking to the pigeons (as I recall, she had named them too). Then she randomly started "singing" and then said to absolutely nobody, "Thank you for coming to my concert."

I’ve seen a crazy pigeon lady outside a subway station in nyc with about at least 50 pigeons on her as she was feeding them. God I love this country

Idk what's so bad about Roosevelt, Jackson, and 79th I've been to them often so there not that bad for me but it could also be off of personal experience.

It is the 79th bus that I hate riding, lol. That is my least favorite line.
@brandoncole553311 ай бұрын
79 is horrid I would have to get off there to go to my mom's job when I was younger People were always fighting I would have random people trying to ask me things and talk to me Very uncomfortable Never really had this at the other Southside stations Jackson and Roosevelt from what I've seen over the years Is largely fine especially since there are usually so many people there that you get a general sense of safety
@ChicagoMike9711 ай бұрын
@@brandoncole5533 oh yeah. I have a story for just about every time I ride that bus. I am often the only white dude on there and people have occasionally tried to hassle me for that. Takes some getting used to. It’s like, come on man. I am just trying to get to where I am going. In that area of town, I have had better experiences on the 71 and the 75. They are a bit more chill.
@LoveToday811 ай бұрын
I'm closer to the Howard station but I'll occasionally go to or exit the train at Jarvis because people are constantly smoking at the Howard station.🙄🙄 Even worse is people will smoke in the station lobby and the CTA attendant won't do anything. I wish the Granville stop had an auxillary exit and entrance considering how many people get off at that stop for grocery shopping at Aldi. The sidewalk leading to the station is pretty narrow, especially on the southern side of Granville. I agree that Addison is a more appropriate stop for the Purple line. Sheridan is a very inaccessible station. A few times I've seen people carrying a stroller up the stairs and those people would have been better served by an elevator. I intentionally moved to the north side close to the Red Line because of the great transit access. I use the the Uptown,Edgewater, and Rogers Park stations the most when I'm not using my bike.

Addison was a two platform station at one time. The problem was stopped trains interfering with the Evanston Express (Purple Line) trains which used to run Express from Merchandise Mart to Howard.

I use Fullerton & sometimes Belmont to transfer to Brown & sometimes Purple if it comes 🥇 during &/or if I couldn’t take it from Howard or Wilson & transfer to mostly Green & sometimes Orange @ Roosevelt

95th i like the station its rlly cool but the rebuilt the station in 2018 and finished in 2019 the bus terminal was one side at one point but it wasnt big enough for all the bus routes to go into the terminal so some of the buses terminate on state street where the 3 X4 4 terminate at now the station looks pretty cool with the crossover u can see it from a few blocks west and east i would put it in the A tier but the criminal activity is so dangerous there and u can take pictures of the station from there but it would’ve gotten S tier if it wasn’t criminal activity
