Lucid with this disc rocks. Can put a lot of power into a backhand or sidearm and know it won’t turn on me and get good distance. Also my go to tomahawk throwing disc love that one

Been playing for over 12 years tried pretty much every disc there is and I bag a dynamic discs trespass for my distance drivers. Longer than a destroyer and more comfortable in the hand get one with a slight pop and it will crush

I think the shryke belongs 1 space ahead of the trace. I throw the enigma, wraith, hades, and shryke, and it ranks #1 in my book of the four. Enigma is second, then wraith and hades. It’s all pretty close, they’re all really great discs. Your reviews about beginners throwing enigma’s if wraiths are too stable is spot on. Enigma’s are such great discs.

I'd just put an "underrated" category in there. For instance, the Katana...great disc and honestly only doesn't get attention cause it's older. A lot of these older Innova & Discraft discs are so good and just got lost in the sands of time with the recent "surge" in the sport. omg pun, didn't even notice that

As a noodle arm I love my Avenger SS. I have it in ESP plastic and it will flip up nicely and maybe have a little turn to it before fading.

All in All not bad, but if you are forehand dominant the Teleport is the go-to disc. it can handle all the torque you can put into it and rip it down the fairways

Love my enigma, def my go to driver. Bag it and a GG wraith which is my go to forehand. A beat in rpm kahu has similar distance and slightly more turnover as the enigma. My hades and shrike are longer but in a left to right cross wind just keeps going right. Do find them harder to control.

Both of these comments are wrong. The Raider or Trespass could be the better disc, for most people a Trespass will go farther. For pros the Trespass is too flippy. Just threw the Trespass 390-400ft yesterday out at the course, not a 100% rip, I wouldn't call that baby arm. The Raider on the same throw probably goes 375ft with a slightly better result as the Trespass went too straight

I love your content. One of my favorite disc golf channels. I've got to be honest. I've got a star shryke at 168grams still fairly new. Now I'm at 42 yrs old and I imagine I've lost some arm speed since the 90's, but to say the shryke is flippy is a litte off for me.That disc wouldn't flip for me if I pulled out my hardest throw ever lol. I'm thinking I just shouldn't be throwing a speed 13 disc. The star mamba seems more suited to me. And I also have a beat up nuke that will flip up and fly for a mile. I've been playing disc golf off and on for 27 yrs now and I wouldn't consider myself a beginner. But I'm certainly not throwing 500 ft. Unless it's downhill with a tailwind lol. Keep it up ya Swankers!

MVP and speed. Those overmolds seem to helix in shorter distances, so I kind of think that they leverage up the speed quotient to essentially say "throw these really hard to draw out the fade". My 2 cents.

1) You did it right putting the Wraith at the top. 2) Gstar Corvettes absolutely bomb, don’t be afraid of 13+ speeds. 3) What plastic do you throw Traces? My Proton is more stable than my stable wraiths. 4) No Trespass? No Wave? No Octane? Defender? Rive? Thrasher? Still enjoyed. Thanks!

Avenger SS & Heat are the same disc, just depends on the feel you prefer. Avenger SS I keep on hand anytime I am guiding a beginner, I've given several away. The Z plastic is NOT as understable, and holds up for most intermediate arms. The other plastics do flip over alot. So...base plastics, dog toy. Other plastics...depends.

Great video. Would really like to see the same tier list for fairway drivers. Lacking a huge arm, I tend to drive with 9-11 speed discs. Also, would be better to only rank discs that at least one of you have thrown a fair amount. Thanks again!

Idk if the shryke i got was just a stable one, but my shryke is nowhere near as flippy as any hades I've ever thrown. Peopke say shrykes fly like slightly beat-in destroyers

I agree with the active premium plastic mentor however the active base line Mentor is a great forehand disc for me. The active (non-premium) line feels much better to me in base plastic than the active premium counterparts.

you just gotta find the right d1, 400 plastic tends to be more stable and 400g is super over stable.

If you haven't held a Shryke/Crank you don't understand how "non-wide" the rim actually is, it's not a huge rim like the nuke actually it's made with smaller hands in mind. and they are the closest thing to "point and shoot" that drivers get. definitely recommend checking out a Crank/Shryke to anyone that hasn't.

Y’all should throw a Shryke. You’ll be surprised at the stability of it… it’s not flippy out of the box.

Pretty good list. Wraith is my favorite distance driver and I prefer the DD3 to the Destroyer or I should say the DD3 is like the less stable Destroyers that can be found. You underestimate the Shryke and you really should throw a disc more than 2 times (an only one of you at that) before having an opinion on it. Luster or Champion Shrykes are only -1 turn I believe btw. And the Stars are not flippy either if you know how and when to throw them.

With all the discs out there nowadays, it’s hard for a couple of guys to have given them all enough of a chance without having a very erratic game. What I would do differently is to start out only reviewing discs you’re familiar with. Saying “I haven’t thrown it”, but giving it a rating anyway doesn’t add anything to the conversation. You are noticeably heavy on Innova (and spin-offs like Discmania) and Discraft, while giving short shrift to Trilogy (Lat64, Westside and Dynamic Discs), MVP/Axiom, and all the other smaller manufacturers (e.g., Kastaplast, Legacy). That said, I like your calling it as you see it and aren’t manufacturer lap dogs like you see in many “review” videos. I like comparing so many discs at once, as it gives a better feel of the number of choices out there. Even if I disagree with your choices, you explain enough about each choice to help us with our decision making. For instance, I might try out an Enigma, which wasn’t on my radar before. Thanks a lot!

I obviously didn't agree with all of the ranking, BUT damnit fellas you gotta rank at least one Westside distance driver! Preferably the Tournament Sword, but I would've been happy if yall brought up the King, or the Adder, or even a damn Queen!! The only 2 distance drivers molds I carry are destroyer and shryke. I usually just throw a destroyer when I need a distance driver but a hyzer flip shryke can bomb really far

I love the Shryke and I personally think it belongs in "great" tier. When I first started throwing a while back I started with the Innova Groove. I was actually able to do a lot with that disc. I stopped playing for a long time and got back into disc golf a few years ago, and more obsessed than ever. I learned quickly that higher speed didn't mean more distance. I had a wraith and a destroyer because they were so popular, and I started with Innova and was comfortable throwing their discs. My second year back I went back to throwing distance drivers again and I was shocked at how different those discs flew for me, thanks to having better form. Around this time I also bought a Shryke, and I was able to throw that disc further than any discs I'd ever been able to throw. After a year or so it started to become TOO flippy, so I went back to my wraith, and that's when I realized that my skill had progressed enough for me to use it as intended. A friend gave me his lightly-used Shryke in star plastic about a month ago and I love it. Over the summer I'd go out and throw on my breaks at work so I could work on my form. There was a small patch of grass with gravel all around it and my discs got pretty beat in. Even after all of that abuse the first destroyer I got from a couple years ago, which is in star plastic and very domed, is STILL too overstable for me to throw. For me to get any reliable distance out of it I have to throw it on anhyzer and flex it. It comes in handy for spike hyzers though lol TLDR; Shrykes are great for intermediate to advanced players and belongs in "great" tier. Wraiths are also awesome, but require a bit more skill. I've only thrown one Destroyer, although I've thrown it hundreds of times, and its overstable as hell.

I am interested to know what you think of the Innova boss. I bag two that are slightly flipper than my destroyers. I think the boss beats in well for a hyzer flip shot with reliable fade at the end

Boss would have been more in line with what people actually throw than an Ape. The Boss is pretty similar to a Force so I'd put it in that category, it's reliable in the wind and I love it for sidearms.

Enigma is so under rated , got a flat and a domie one , the domie one is as overstable or more than my Zeus and my flat one is just a bit less flippy than my Hades and they are both 173 g in NEO plastic , that's so cool to get verry different flights

Constructive criticism for future videos: I'd like more consistency in how you rank things. I've seen this in a few of your videos where it feels like some discs you rate based on personal preference and others you rate based on the fact a lot of pros bag them. And you'll flip flop on that, eg; "X disc is great! not many pros bag it but I like it so it's swanky, Y disc is great! not many pros bag it though so we'll rank it as a water disc." or talk about availability/cost for some and rate based on that then ignore those stats for others when it might be just as, or even more relevant. You talk about the consistency issues with the Mentor and then don't mention it with destroyers (which are known as one of the most inconsistent molds due to production quantity). Also would be nice if you grabbed the list from sales statistics; "top 20 Distance drivers sold in 2020". Not hating, I appreciate the channel and couldn't do it myself.

Shame you didn't consider the MVP Photon or Wave. The Photon is a better version of the Wraith+Destroyer, and the Wave is a perennial understable favorite that is very approachable for newer players.

The Destroyer is swanky for sure, but it depends on the mold. Flippy destroyers that can handle a headwind are rare, but ideal. There is too much inconsistency with the Destroyer unfortunately.

Need an updated version of this! With the addition of the Rive, DD1, King, etc. The Rive is honestly a perfect disc, but boy of boy the consistency disc to disc is not there yet.

Dude the teleport is the widest rim I’ve felt…that being said I have a used one that was gifted to me in my bag and being honest I use it for my shots over water…lol. Went swimming for it 2 weeks ago…lol.

The Hades can do some great things. I've bagged and beat in 4 or 5 of them, and I feel like going back to the shryke in that slot, because the shryke doesn't get as flippy and still flies farther, comparing star to esp. Maybe keep a Hades as a roller. Where is the Trespass? That is the disc I recommend to new players more than anything on this list. I'm going to buy the next Enigma I see on a shelf, just to see what you guys are talking about. The Ballista Pro was the biggest game changer on this list for me. I used to bag 5 Nukes. Now I have 2 Nukes and 3 Ballista Pro, one stable, one flippy, one lightweight. I throw these for distance and straight lines through the woods and the biggest spike hyzers for my arm speed. I bag a Z Force just to throw over water, but I've made so many great shots with it (still have it after all the danger I put it in) that I'm considering putting a second one in my bag.

The ballista pro is sooo underrated. Probably the straightest flying distance driver out there, especially for a 14 speed. Flies more like a 14 5 0 2

Not a bad list, I’d say the force should be in the s class only because almost every player on discraft has at least a force if not more in the bag. It’s more reliable than a destroyer and from the available plastics with the force make it more versatile than any stable disc on the market. For example you can get a jawbreaker force that flys just like a new wraith, or an esp force which would be a straight to stable fade, and a tour series force which is a great stable disc for force over flex’s reliable forehand, and a disc you can trust not to turn over. I wouldn’t say I am a huge force fan but I have tried many discs in the same tier as the force and for the options it has and the reliability it has it one of the best discs on the market.

The shryke is great for beginners. Even with that 13 speed, you’ll get a good s shape out of it even with a beginner arm speed.

I picked up a brand new active line mentor and I throw sidearm 350 to 400 with overstable stable or understable and the mentor was awesome until I hit about 2 trees it flew just like my 2x Paul mcbeth g star krait that I don't want to lose bc it goes 370 threw a 12 by 12 hallway

SS is a great disc. My SS plastic has stayed strong. If you can’t throw the disc then don’t throw it. But, that disc is great for turn shots. I’ve never used it as a roller. They are sought out by a lot of players. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Shryke is the only disc that gets me over 400ft. There is no comparable max distance driver for ams. It is swanky.

The hades is a great disc if you get the right one. You never know what disc your going to get out of the box. The few that I have thrown have 0 understability. But I've seen other people have very understable ones.

champ shrykes fly completely different than star shrykes, they are almost a completely different disc. a champ shryke flies really straight with some light predictable fade where the star shryke is basically roller flippy after a little break in. champ shrykes break in great and keep their flight really well. I use both but for really different shots. a champ shryke might be really close to an enigma.

hades is the flippiest disc i've ever thrown. i think it's because mine was proto. every prodigy distance drive i throw flips into a roller disc. nukes and destroyers are the goats. also enigma is another WAY TOO understable disc. idk how they got off giving it the same numbers as a destroyer and a dd3
