Consider this not only an armor ranking video, but a definitive guide on how to look your best in Elden Ring. I tried to pack as many suggestions as I could in here, and apparently that resulted in an hour-long video that I'm probably never doing again.
This will be more opinionated than most of my other videos. If we happened to clash, then that's all good and fine. But please don't act like I snuck into your house and clogged your toilet just because I didn't like the Spellblade set.

As a colorblind person, I finally found an advantage over normal people. The less colors I see, the more colors that match. I had no idea that crucible knight set had different color than radahn (I mixed it and I thought it looked good enough) Also the comically large hood for rotten duelist is something I love about this set. It’s ridiculous, like he tries to cover and hide his helm but it needs too much cloth. Also I fucking love how this set can be considered “if little red riding hood girl was a badass barbarian” and fighting some dogs in caelid is actually pretty fitting. Idk it has my balance of being ridiculous and quite stylish

The helmet of the bloodhound set is actually based off a historical helmet that existed in real life. It’s called the “hounskull” meaning dog faced or also known as pig faced. It was used by many knights in the later medieval period.

As a goldmask set appreciator, I think it looks great on a frenzied flame build for the full insane vagrant look (especially for showing off the fingerprints), and pairing the rags with the eccentric's breeches looks surprisingly good for the "dangerous crackhead outside 7/11" feel. Bloodsoaked mask + goldmasks rags + any manchettes (or zamor bracelets) + legwraps for "corpse fresh out the sarcophagus"

I actually found the Banished Knight helm (Unaltered) worked pretty well with Radahn’s chest piece and grieves, and while it was a crime, the Banished Knight Gauntlets did work. Try it yourselves for a rugged knight kinda look

The helm looks great with the radahn set, i hated the fact that the Radahn helm constantly blocked my view, so i switched it for the Banished knight helm. I am also not a big fan of the duck feet of the Banished knight set, and the gloves were a little bland, and the Radahn pieces look great for replacements as well. Even better that they are in the same stat category.

I actually really like the Exile set except for the way the chestpiece rides up your face, but adding certain headpieces make it slide down normally. Spellblade hat, Skeletal Mask, either of the noble hoods, Confessor hood, Fia's hood all do this, and there are probably more I havent tested out. The pulled-up cloak also looks good on certain headpieces, like bloodsoaked mask, Perfumer hood, Alberich's hat, most helms, etc. I also like how skirts like the Nox grieves fit underneath it for a nice layered look (the nox grieves are great imo its one of the only skirts in the game that doesnt ban you from wearing shoes lol) Personal favorite mismatched armor set I've put together (for my dex/faith lightning swordstress character): Spellblade Hat Night Maiden armor (or swordstress theyre basically the same) Any gauntlets you want, I tend to go with Warrior's Leather (Patches) greives

My current build for my spellsword character is doing the Carian knight chest and helmet (for lack of better, matching helmets) with the Hoslow gauntlets and Royal Knight leggings. The engravings match with each other really well, and best of all the type of steel used on all of it the same, shiny silver look. It gives the perfect imahe if a knightly noble who likely comes from high standing and was able to afford the most ornate armor money could buy to show off. 14:05 Im throwing hands. The Carian knight helmet is great looking, and it's a sin youd offer a dumb headband over superior, shiny steel helmet.

That Carian Knight set is absolutely magical. I've always been a rags and robes sort of player, light armor, anything to not look like a "knight" But Elden Ring changed me man, slowly during my first playthrough I dabbled more and more into messing with the Carian Knight set and by the end of the game I looked like the most resplendent magic knight ever. and loved it. Goes well with the spell Pest Needles and madness builds🤣 The Carian helmet goes suprisingly well with the Hoslow set... If you don't look at the blue gem on the helm too hard. And Radahn's gloves and legs go well with Blaidd's set and the Kaiden set(with Blaidd's head).

6:39 Absolutely same. I used the scaled set with the greathelm for the first half of my playthrough, before discovering just how sick the unaltered banished knight armor looks. It pairs really well with Veteran’s gauntlets and greaves, given they’re similarly modeled.

I actually got a lot of use out of the Champion set, at least the chestpiece. I combined it with the banished knights helmet with the hood and the sanguine nobles kilt thing and it looked really cool.

Some notes: -Azur and Lusat's chest pieces can have their crystals shoulder parts reduced by some hats and, oddly enough, some hoods too for some reason. -All the knights chest pieces when paired with shoulder capes will remove the big fat insignia piece. -Exile's big ass Snuggy can be reduced with some headpieces. Another piece that would benefit from the Alteration system, like the Duelist's. -Highwayman hood paired really well with Morgott's rags but only because I had the Frenzied eyes and body marks when I rocked it. Made my dude look like a crazed swordsman. I really hope they give us more alteration options in the future. Even a simple dyeing system would open up a lot of fashion possibilities.

I actually did a look where I combined azur’s robe with maliketh’s guantlets and boots and Godfrey’s crown and I thought it looked pretty decent. Kind of an astral wizard king sort of vibe. You can also replace the legs with the zamor leg wraps for more poise with almost identical appearance and renalla’s crown goes decently with lusat’s set.

Fun fact for the Black Knife set: If you like helmets more than hoods on your character, try the Fingerprint Helm. It only looks slightly off-color with the ethereal cloak darkening it. As long as you don't mind your head being a little caved-in, it can be a pretty nice look Edit: In case I didn't make it clear, the ethereal hood actually goes over the fingerprint helm the same way it does with the black hood. Hence, why this look works

Tbh vikes and black knife just generally play well. I personally enjoy champion head, vike chest, eccentrics machetes, and black knife legs, all run with a warped axe and frenzy flame seal for a frenzied berserker feel.

One thing I adore about the Bloodhound Knight Set (the helmet and the chestpiece in particular) is that it's a fantastically functional design. The point in the helmet and chest look a little goofy, but it's a design that's means to make attacks slide off to the side.

Crimson hood with Radahn set has been my go-to for my entire first playthrough the second I got Radahn's armor. The red and gold also pair insanely well with Rykard's Blasphemous Blade, which I basically mained next to my winged scythe for my Faith build.

If your actually curious about the lore for the Belgian waffle set, there was a dragon vs capital war at some point before the shattering and some knights decided fight fire with fire and ended up like that after combining the corpses of dragons with their weapons and armour and seemingly horses since I don't think the adverage horse belches fire

One piece of armour I love is the fell omen cloak, i paired it with the prophet pants and blindfold, and some wrist wrappings (dont remember which). It looked pretty cool on a pyromancer build or with two omencleavers.

For the black flame monks set, the headpiece goes really well with the crucible knights set, as the chainmail of the helmet matches with the chainmail at the hip of crucible knight set.

I feel like the exile chest has amazing synergy with the long knight helms, it makes the long neck look non-existent, and makes your character look a bit taller too

Did you know that, with certain masked helmets/hoods such as the Traveling Perfumer's Hat, the massive face cloak disappears on the exile chest? It leaves you with this really cool crimson mantle and dark lamellar armor underneath. It also works with the Sage's Hood if you want to go for that "Medieval Executioner" look. On that same executioner coin, I suspect it'd also work with the Eccentric Hood, the hood that features the metal mask depicting an aged man with a beard. There are many unlikely combinations you can find on accident in any Souls game, it's simply up to you to try what looks impossible.

The Bloodhound knight helm is pretty close to the pig-faced basinet, a popular helmet design of the 1400s, said helmet and the gauntlets pairs nicely with the altered vagabond chest and legs to make a true wandering knight set.

The Veteran's helmet goes surprisingly well with other silvery armors. I put it on the Beast Champion set for my final end-game armor and never looked back, but it also works as a less goofy replacement for the Royal Knight helmet. Since I love the Noble's Traveling Garb I've played around with it and I always seem to come back to the Carian Knight's gauntlets and greaves for that stylish yet subtle "adventuring princess" look. That said, the Hoslow greaves are recommended if you use the Crimson Hood since it has that red little skirt that adds color to the ensemble. If you want to roleplay a ninja, use altered Nox Monk hood, altered confessor robes and Land of Reeds gauntlets and greaves. Then load up on throwing daggers/kukris/etc, wield any katana, the wakizashi or the parrying dagger (which looks a bit like a sai) and you're good to go. If you want to look like a spooky slasher villain, use Bloodsoaked Mask, Godskin Apostle robes and anything on the hands and feet you think matches. Equip a scary-looking weapon like the bloodstained dagger, scavanger's curved sword, hand axe, iron cleaver or whatever.

I do not know if this is confirmed but I strongly believe that the mausoleum knight chest piece was heavily inspired from Polish soldiers called “Winged Hussars” or “Polish Hussars”. They actually had a practical use for the wings and it was to inflict as much fear as they could into their enemies. They were used from 1503 to 1702

It makes sense that the bloodhound knights use a hounskull helm. Its design is fairly similiar to the ones in real life, though some aspects are a bit off. Considering an actual hound uses it I'm not surprised however.

With the crucible set, I use the Fire Monk hood because it matches the colour perfectly and you can convince yourself that it's made of chainmail. Same with the Black Flame hood. They go well with many sets.

The blue silver mail hood looks surprisingly good on the unaltered beast champion set. The slight blue fits the over all theme and being a mail coif fits the heavy armor. While the regular mail coif can work as well, the blue sivler mail hood looks a lot more elegant and refined. The entire set up reminds of Targray from DS 2 but bulkier.

Personally I like using the Banished Knight Helmet and Chest (unaltered for the wrap and cape) with the Veteran Gauntlets and Leggings. It adds a little bit of texture and adjusts where your elbows are slightly to make it slightly more unique aesthetically without being chaos. Also I prefer heavier plate as long as it doesn't verge into Smough territory so I think it works out on that vein as well.

I absolutely love the astrologers chest piece with the blood soaked mask+manchettes, and battle mage leg wraps. For a veteran combat mage, or a scholar who’s a little too inquisitive. Or you could use Zamor gauntlets/leggings, prophets leggings, for a more “mad mage who escaped imprisonment” type of feel.

The land of reeds helmet paired with the exile chest piece is an S tier combo. It sits over the scarf giving it a better samurai look than the original set, as well as having matching colour schemes between the metal and cloth.

I like the Altered Banished Knight set, which I don't think was included in the vid. Theres an altered variant drop for the helmet and chest piece. The Helmet looks really good and goes with a bunch of different armor sets. Ditches the red scarf for a long white plume/hair thing. The armor is shinier and looks more like a standard knights outfit. Both go great for some paladin type outfits, but the helmet looks really good on anything that's full plate really. It's also not super skinny like a bunch of other helmets. They've also got pretty good stats/poise. Less weight for less poise than the Veterans set.

I personally wore a combo of the the Rotten Gravekeeper Cloak and Grieves and the Briar Gauntlets, because I liked the vivid red colors and dramatic swooshy cape combined with the loincloth and simple tank top. It made me feel like a Conan-esqe barbarian amazon. I also wore the Wolf Mask and made my character's skin the same dark grey tone as the wolf mask, as well as cranked up the body hair setting to max, because I am furry trash and it was the closest I was going to get to being a werewolf in Elden Ring

The gauntlets and leggings of the azur and Lusat set are actually much much much more versatile than you think. Especially the gloves. You can use them with almost anything cloth based tbh. The leggings on the other hand can make you look like some kind of pharaoh in some situations, which is pretty cool. I personally did the Zamor mask, duelist cloak, and then the lusat/azur leggings and lusat gloves to make an Egyptian mummy ish kind of Esc mage character.

The cleanrot armor has those ‘twigs’ because the cleanrot knights have accepted rot into their bodies, they aren’t twigs, they’re actually cordiceps, a fungel growth that comandeers the bodies of insects.

The commoner helmet when altered is just the metal part and it’s nice to wear if you want to show the majority of your face while still wearing something. In my case I have a tattoo on my character’s face and some of the glowy eyes, so I use it occasionally

The brair set is really good for invasions as it makes you feel like a tarnished hunter, i think its good for a bounty hunter esc design especially when paired with radahn gloves and the black hood or mask

I just got Elden Ring (and an Xbox Series X) literally a week ago tomorrow and have fallen in love with the game. I definitely wanted to explore more Drip as the only set I found I liked (and could actually use as a mage) was the Astrologer, but knowing I can get the full Kaiden set almost makes me want to start a second character JUST to play someone that can wear the Kaiden set (and let me explore a second playstyle cuz THAT CURVED BLADE JUST HELPS SO MUCH!).

The Lord of Blood's Robes, especially the altered piece, is my absolute favorite chest piece to use for a pure caster. Especially for my INT/FTH build, it looks like a combination of a high-ranking clergyman's clothes and the robes of a Raya Lucarian scholar or even a Carian noble due to the color scheme, which I will also praise because the colors mesh really well and it's not some bright-neon eyesore. You can keep the shoulder armor thing and the cape if you want to look especially extravagant, but I find it better to get rid of it because, to me, the chest piece looks much more plausible without it. It looks like my character can awake up, take a few minutes to put it on, and then be ready to walk out the door without wasting too much time. Also, the shoulder armor looks a bit hefty and like it would make anyone walk lopsided. Regardless, the Lord of Blood's Robes is an easy S tier for me.
