That infamous 2016 race split Mercedes' two 10-race win consecutive race win streak. The only other teams to have achieved this were Ferrari in 2002 and McLaren in 1988 as part of their 11-win streak. Mercedes also did this in 2018-19 as part of their 2019 car's 8-win streak, 5 of which were consecutive 1-2s.

2008 and 2009 Toro Rossos were current Red Bulls rather than a year old - the “customer cars” were outlawed in 2008 so Red Bull got around that by just building 4 of them. This didn’t, however, mean Toro Rosso got all of Red Bull’s upgrades…

Not completly right. Customer cars where outlawed for 2009 and bejond, which meant that the 2009 str was the first "in house design" by torro rosso. In 2006 they run the 2005 RB with another engine (detuned v10). In 2007 and 08 RB and TR basicly run the same Chassi and same Aerodynamics - but different engine. Funnily enough, the Torro Rosso got with the Ferrari the stronger Engine then the Redbull, which basicly made the TR faster then the RB.

@@ukrje The 2009 car was not an in-house Toro Rosso. Red Bull found a loophole by creating that car via a "parent company" which then "sold" the cars to Red Bull and Toro Rosso. In theory, RBR and TR were "customer teams". The update part is correct though. The 2010 Toro Rosso was the first car to have been built by themselves.

My opinions: 20 minutes in, the 2012 Williams should've been way higher, as it fought multiple times for podiums and top 5 results, but it was hold back by driver mistakes or reliability issues which coated them for example in Singapore, where Maldonado had to retire while running comfortably 3rd with great pace. He would've been 4th at worst in this race. The 2014 Ferrari is way too high

From what i heard, McLaren were rushing Honda to get the engine out. That's why the 2015 Honda engine were extremely unreliable and underpowered. Another thing that makes McLaren the biggest issue with that mess is that they blamed Honda for their poor performance but didn't do any better after they switched than what they did with Honda. They also had a better engine that RB was getting race wins with but McLaren's chassis sucked

Love the list, but really disagree with the top spot. Sure, 2016 Mercedes was tremendous, but the 2014 was just mindblowing. In fact, I think it might be the absolute best F1-car of all time. According to Rosberg the car was so dominant, they drove slower on purpose to not force imminent rule changes against them, and yet they still won by an absolute landslide most of the time! There was never a single moment where the car was remotely outpaced either (Massa getting a pole was purely down to driver errors from Mercedes), unlike 2016 where Ricciardo was faster at Monaco. Relative to the competition I also think the 2014 car was more reliable as well.

In 2014 the Mercedes was never once outpaced, while even though Lewis won through fortunate circumstances Ricciardo was plain faster in Monaco (although Monaco can often be a bit of an anomaly)

I disagree with 2018. Whilst Seb did make mistakes in the second half of the season, it was because he had to outperform the limits of the car to try and keep up with mercedes baring in mind that ferrari actually removed 4 months of upgrades. They were so much slower in the second half of the season and whilst seb did make mistakes, I believe the second half of the season was the cars' lack of performance. And 2017, not sure it had anything to do with driver error, more reliability, Japan and Singapore ruined him

Probably because Mclaren was faster than that Red Bull but also Mclaren was much worse in reliability. That's why they came 3rd in that championship. Lewis lost a lot of race/good results cause of reliability.

Championship position not so much. It's based primarily on overall pace, reliability and technical innovation. Pace though is relative as Vettel's Red Bulls are much slower than the modern Mercs but rank highly because they were so dominant in their day. The 2017 and 2018 Red Bulls as well were pretty much as fast as Ferrari and Mercedes in those years but rank much lower because they broke down all the time

What's the point in ranking the cars if you're just gonna base it off how well the drivers do, and the overall champoinship position? You may as well just rank the teams. The 2018 Mclaren for example should be much lower, it was the worst car on the grid on various weekends that year.

Just a summary of points lost: Malaysia: Slow stop cost him win China: Gearbox change knocked him down the field. Bahrain: Constant slow stops destroyed his race. Spain: Qualified in P1 by half a second, but team underfuelled him so sent to back of grid. Lost win. Europe: Taken out by Maldonado whilst in a podium position. Germany: Puncture sent him to back of the field. Spa: Mistakes in qually put him down the field a little but was prevented making any progress by being caught up in Grosjean's pileup. No doubt he would have finished high in the points going by the McLaren pace that weekend. Singapore: Gearbox failure whilst leading and costing him a likely win. Korea: Anti-Roll bar failure costing him a handful of places. Abu Dhabi: Yet another mechanical issue whilst leading. Lost win. Brazil: Out of control Hulkenberg collided with Lewis who was in the lead. Lost win. There's no surprise Lewis moved teams.

Ackshyually, The Manor 2015 car was the worst, virgin was slower than HRT in 2010 and 2011, the 2019 Williams, 2013 Marussia, and 2011-13 Caterhams were worse than the 2014 Marussia, the 2016 Sauber was worse than the 2016 Manor (depending on your opinion on the Virgin/Marussia/Manor team) and also worse than the 2015 McLaren along with the 2011 Williams, 2017 Sauber, 2014 Lotus, and 2018 Williams, the 2016 Sauber was worse than the 2017 Sauber and 2017 McLaren which was also better than the 2018 Williams, 2011 Williams, 2014 Lotus, the 2016 Sauber was worse than the 2014 Lotus and the 2011 Williams, the 2018 Williams was worse than the 2013 Williams which was also worse than the 2015 and 2017 McLarens, the 2018 Toro Rosso was faster than the 2018 Sauber and 2018 McLaren, the 2016 Renault was worse than the 2018 Toro Rosso, 2015 McLaren, and 2017 McLaren, the 2010 Toro Rosso was worse than the 2018 Toro Rosso, 2015 McLaren, and 2017 McLaren, lots of other errors that I don’t have time for.
