If young girls grow up watching these types of relationships then it’s going to affect the POV of what a healthy relationship is. People learn a lot within fiction- and you can definitely disagree and think Chuck was redeemable, but to suggest that just because it’s fiction doesn’t mean it’s worth talking about. My depressing rant done. My favorite couple will always be dan and blair. Don’t at me. Yes, all the couples are pretty toxic, but out of those, theirs seemed to be the healthiest. They were able to have an emotional, physical, and intellectual discussion. If they had problems they communicated and worked it out. How they ended this relationship made no sense to me. Italy seemed like something Blair would actually want. She can het inspiration for her clothing lines there. Her just going back to Chuck almost made no sense.

I see what you mean but at that point in the series what was most off-putting about their relationship to me was not even them per se but that every person of the main cast had been in a relationship with every other person of the main cast (or at least romantically involved). Maybe except for Chuck and Serena. 😅 it felt really excessive at the point to then pair Dan and Blair when we basically knew Blair was meant to end up with Chuck anyway. I think it was enough for Serena and Blair to "share" one partner in Nate which was also a point of friction between them for a long time.

She has been in love with chuck for 5 seasons, it actually made no sense that she started a relationship with Dan at this point of the story. before marring Louis, she made it clear that Chuck was the only one she really wanted. she was going to break up with the father of her child to be with chuck.. then she suddenly decide to try with Dan, only to go back to the one she really loved at the end. She also has never shown interest in dan even when they try to kiss in season 4, it was so unrealistic. I think the authors just wanted to take time and reunite balir and chuck only at the end of the season. Most of Blair decisions in season 5 had no sense. But I did like blair and dan as friends.

Him practically hitting her after she tells him she is through. Him falling for other girls and being done with her games. Oh and him letting his father fall off the roof and getting arrested. I think I am mad at the writers for continuing with the relationship. I also felt their relationship wasn’t well developed. Again, maybe more on the writers. I think they developed the friendship of dan and blair more than chuck and blair’s relationship, but get why people don’t like them as a couple. In the end, I am going to ship what I want to ship.

As I’m going through your list, Ivy and Rufus def needed to be at the bottom. Like for a whole season Rufus believed Ivy to be his niece. It’s weird now that he dates her in the later season. The best ships imo were: Rufus and Lily, Nate and Vanessa, Serena and Carter, Blair and Chuck (if he hadn't traded her with the hotel or been physically violent with her), and Dan with Georgina. I know so many people are gonna hate me for shipping Dan and Georgina. Still, if we saw his cunning and manipulative side (like when he wrote those chapters about each of the people in his life) earlier on, it would've made sense for him to be with Georgina, not Blair. Although I admit, I loved them as friends...until he manipulated things and Serena tricked him into sleeping with her and filmed it without his consent.

It was great when Dan and Blair became friends, but when did they become a couple? A real disaster. Contrary to what the fans say they are neither healthy nor pure or similar things. He kept lying to her to make her believe that all of her friends were bad, for example when her bachelorette party went wrong she blamed Chuck, then she ruined the relationship with her future husband, Making him turn into a monster and ruin his own life, and one of them blamed Chuck; then he blackmailed her, telling her they would never see each other again if she didn’t get together with him, She who was convinced that she had no one because she fell into the trap of Dan accepted. Too bad she didn’t love him, so he spent his time with Chuck, but anyway Dan already knew because he was spying on her, then he decided to force her to come with him for his summer job, then Dan not satisfied with his relationship with Blair sleeps with Serena. Then Blair leaves him, and he decides to publish a smear article about her in revenge to ruin her career. I really hope you’re joking when you say that you’d like to have a relationship like this.

It is interesting seeing how many women are seen as predators in this show because it is not as discussed as male predators. Don’t get me wrong, this is horrible and should not have been romanticized on the show, but am surprised at how many women acted as predators versus the men. Yep it still is and was even more of a trope in media that it's "cool" for young guys to get laid by an attractive older woman. Very much the misandrist idea that men/older boys always want sex anyway and women couldn't be predators because they are the "weaker sex". I think people have/had an easier time seeing men as potential predators because of physical strength and only in recent years we have become more aware that the problem is vast power imbalances, not only physically but also age, maturity, finances, position in life etc
