I have to say these videos have honestly increased my appreciation for some of the reboot dolls! I still don't love them, but they're not nearly as bad as I thought they were when they came out. I think a lot of us only hated them because they weren't the originals 😅 BTW, I know this is totally unrelated, but I saw the Bratz Rock Angelz repros in the store the other day and it looks like their wonky faces are fixed! I just wanted to let you know in case you were interested in getting any more of them, I can't remember what you said about that when you reviewed Jade. I want them all tbh, but I don't want to pay full price at all lmaoo

I agree! I definitely think it's easier years on to be more objective about the reboot dolls instead of being in the middle of the decline. Also, thanks for letting me know! I probably won't buy anymore unless they go on sale in the future but it's good to know to look out! ☺️

I'm realizing watching this how often the hair is what really makes or breaks a Lagoona doll! I also think she was one of the characters treated most kindly by the reboot (generic budget dolls aside.) Her style was always more colorful and less spooky than the other characters, maybe that's it. I adore her Shriek Wrecked doll it might actually be my favorite Lagoona. I understand not liking her hair color but I honestly really like 13 Wishes Lagoona she's one of my favorites. Her dress is kind of whatever but I like everything else about her. These videos have made me appreciate the Swim Class line on a new level.

Right Swim Class is so underrated!! I also think that Lagoona was handled better than other reboot dolls. Maybe you're right about the color schemes for her, but she definitely looks less awful in the cute-ified style

i always thought her shriekwrecked doll was so sweet and cute 🥺 her face is just so delicate and sweet. the hair is absolutely adorable, too! i’m not crazy about her long shorts/outfit tho. her accessories were cute, however.

Honestly Lagoona got a princess treatment in the reboot. The cute face really worked well with her face sculpt and with her being fish. Maybe I’m just biased because she was my all time favourite

They definitely played safe with Lagoona’s designs for the most part. I think that the fact that she was the blonde, “Barbie like” character has to be taken into consideration and they sort of made her more “conventional” to appeal to customers who are not familiar with the brand and might look for a more “typical Barbie doll”. That being said, the original was the most interesting and fresh of the OGs, I love wave 2 and the Shriek Wrecked one is one of the best ones ever! Oh and the Dawn of the Dance one is legendary!

i adore Lagoona, it disappointed me that she was usually designed in a lot of "safe" style. like she was purposely the inoffensive design doll. For a good chunk of her original doll releases, i love them or could say the designs were good. but i think they started making her make-up mid tone. which was close to her skin color, and her clothes didn't have much black in them. so on a design aspect, she didn't have much contrast. Her character is so cool, and i like her as this odd fashion, aquadic, fem/tomboy, athletic, ozzy, character. i think a big missed opportunity was that they didn't embrace her fins at times to do special cut outs for her legs on slits that accommodate her design. or even then, their are so many fish designs they could of uses for inspiration for each look that she could of embraced as a look.

I definitely want to see a Venus video! If, once you've gone through your must-dos, you still want to do more of these ranking videos then I'd love to see Rochelle or Twyla. I think they both had enough releases to warrant dedicated videos.

@@FaeryTaleDolls Rochelle is literally my favorite MH character- I have more Rochelles for display than any other MH doll (not that that's many, I unfortunately started collecting for factory display after they started getting pricey) and she's also one's of my favorites to customize/repaint.

100% agree with this list and with you. Lagoona is such a great concept and that first wave doll has you hooked. However just style wise i feel like there is always just a little something missing - except the OG, DOTD and Shriekwrecked. Like those NAILED it for me in every way. But the rest make her a not so desired doll for my collection. Love these videos! Another fun idea after original dolls and your other favorites would be like the two packs or just multipacks in general. That would be fun to see how you rank those considering that one doll can make or break a whole rank haha.

Man Lagoona's dolls are dressed way less sporty than I remember. Which is weird, because sports were like her thing. One note on the classroom doll's shoes that the part that goes around her leg was actually modeled to look like ropes (that I believe connected to an anchor on the back of her shoe but I don't quite remember), because the print on the dress was like anchors and boat wheels

@@FaeryTaleDolls Yeah it's really weird when you compare her to the other main ghouls. They all have a fashion style or two that inspires their clothes that are based off of there personality. Lagoona doesn't, and no wonder her dresses look like they could go on any of the dolls, other than being water themed.

My own rankings in order of best to worst within each tier (big lagoona fan so alot more love than usual) -Perfect: Wave 2 (School's Out), Original, Dot dead gorgeous, Monster exchange, Shriekwrecked, Scaris, Dance class -Good: How do you boo, Skull Shores, Welcome to monster high, Ghouls beast pet, Frights Camera Action, Hydration station, Student disembody council, Picture day, 13 wishes -Good but not for me: Dawn of the dance, great scarrier reef, surf to turf, mad science class, fangtastic fitness, ghouls night out, roller maze -Mediocre: Ghostly tea party, Wheel love, Swim class, Dead Tired, Emoji -Bad but it gets worse: Ghould to mermaid, Monster Family, Comic Book -Burn it: Ghoul spirit (the picture next to how do you boo), swimsuit

I love Lagoona but have to admit she did suffer quite alot of miss dolls mainly due to her lackluster outfits. I think she most consistantly has a pretty face! However I think this is where we may differ the most because a lot of my faves are in your mediocre group! ^^; Top 5 Lagoonas: 1. Classroom (Love the plait, her make up is cute, the dress is cute. Just a real solid doll!) 2. Skull Shores (She really gives me beach PARTY/Island vibes in this and that's much better than just a swimsuit! Skull Shores really had some solid looks and if anyone can get away with wearing this year round, it's got to be a salt water monster! ) 3. Frights Camera Action (I like her having more blue in her hair, I like the curls, I like her outfit. Yeah I'm a fan. 4. Schools Out (I got this at the same time as Classroom and had a hard time deciding between them but Classroom Ultimately won out. I still think this ones pretty though. I do love the odd meshing and her jelly shoes. 5. Original. She's the one that started it all! I love her Dead Tired (I wanted the hydration station but honestly find this outfit so much cuter and it doesn't necasarrily have to be pajamas either) I think her yoga doll is SO cute, her outfit is just not it! I remember owning her and putting her in Wheel Love Lagoonas outfit (minus the skates etc.) and a pair of shoes. So much better! 13 Wishes Lagoona is pretty but yeah I never understood the need to make her more blue (when Gil is the same shade and that's the whole reason she was more blue was a wish to be freshwater like him. Also her dress is pretty but why does everyone else get a more eleborate genie dress?) Exchange Lagoona is also cute! She was going to Spain so her outfit is Spain inspired.

Lagoona has always been a hard sell for me. Her outfits are usually either very sporty or very frilly, and either way I end up feeling meh about it. Some of her silhouettes just look awkward to me (looking at you, Monster Ball). That goes for all three gens, by the way. She does have some cute ones. I hope we get more that I like from her, cause I'm super endeared to her character in gen 3 (I haven't seen the og webseries yet, it's very long). Anyway, I think you just sold me on her og look. I've always felt a bit off by it cause I thought her hood was a weird little hat thing, but recently I realized that wasn't actually the case lol. And she does look pretty sharp, with all the contrast of bright colors against the black. So maybe I'll like her more in the future!

Lagoona has never been a favorite character neither in the series/movies or in doll form. However the reproduction made me so happy because it was the first one and yet one of her best dolls ever. I love original Lagoona with her little shorts and hoodie.
