Fun fact about shell soccer: There's an additional layer of strategy in that you can hit multiple goombas at once if you get close enough to them and aim at a specific angle.

8:50 A better way to name them is a stacker. Both the competitive Puyo and Tetris communities refer to them as such. The main focus of the game is to stack efficiently to get Tetris' and T-Spins for Tetris, and chains and power clears for Puyo. Downstacking and Upstacking are both terms used for clearing downwards and upwards respectively in both games. The same goes for Puzzle Fighter. Games where you add blocks or objects onto a board, or stacking, fit this category. Games like Dr. Mario and Puyo Puyo go into the matching genre, which overlaps with games like Candy Crush and Bejeweled. Zumba is an example of an action matching stacker. Calling them Tetris games does a disservice to the games involved, like calling all platformers Mario-likes or all FPS games Doom clones. Tetris Game examples are Tritris, where you clear lines of right triangles, and pentris, Tetris but with 5 blocked pieces instead of 4. Source: I'm a top 3% Tetris player and suck at all the other games I mentioned.

@American Mapping! I don't think you match objects in Tetris at all. You clear lines by stacking with them. Puyo is a stacker game because you stack up chains. Puzzle Fighter is a stacker because if you stack elements together to deal damage. There's also match type games like Bejeweled and Candy Crush, which aren't stacking games but still encompasses your definition. I think any game where things come from the top and you have to put them together in a certain way stacking games. Also I am incredibly biased since I'm part of the competitive Tetris community full of people calling them stackers.

Correction in Hide and Sneak- The characters run randomly even in the original so you can't actually use that to gauge where a player goes.

I probably wouldnt mind SOME of the 3v1's being "unfair" on one side if there was a mechanic that skewed their odds of appearing towards helping the losers. For example, if the 1 was losing the board, they are more likely to get a game that favours the 1, and if the 1 is winning the board, they get a minigame that is stacked against them. Basically, acting as a minor comeback mechanic that actually still requires some skill.

In terms of "LOOK AWAY", I disagree. The original version of the game allowed players to rotate the character head really fast, which would make it difficult to try and track them. In the remake of this, your character head moves much much slower.

The final countdown is underrated perfect pacing (no waiting, no instant death, intenser lategame), best mobility minigame in the game, no rng, Great mix between focusing on the tiles and enemy players, short wait after death, me and my siblings played it 30+ times on repeat, no one was frustrated and everybody won quite a bit. (second most was haunted mansion with 10 ish becouse of rage rematches)

If you want to be driven you insane again, you should try ranking all of the Mario and Sonic Olympic Events. As someone who loves that series way more than it deserves and actively participates in online leaderboards for them, there is a lot of crappy luck based games hiding in skill based clothing. Smaller video would be just the London Party missions, but considering the Mario wiki doesn't even have a section for that mode (seriously not even a section on the full article of Mario and Sonic London, even though that was the big thing of that game) I don't think anyone cares about it. Those missions sucked too.

I’d enjoy a video on the DS version of Winter Olympics, honestly, ranking or no ranking. The story mode is actually really fun: you start with just Mario and Sonic, and recruit characters as you go along. Some characters are needed to take certain challenges for their own personal skills and quirks. For example, you need Waluigi to use reverse psychology to get a shy guy to spill the beans in one area, and in an earlier area, King Boo refuses to race anyone in Slalom except Luigi because he enjoys how much it creeps Luigi out

The issue with Roll Call isn't that it just counting. The issue with it is that you can see your opponents' count. That means you actually don't have to count, but copy your opponents score. And if everyone has the same score, everyone wins, removing the point of even trying. That's why Goomba Spotting is so much better of a counting minigame because you can't see anyone's score or even count backwards. And since the counting is reactionary, you not only have to be sure you count right, but also be sure to press the button a correct amount of times.

Your rant at 50:57 was pure genius. I am glad I am not the only one that ignores the lack of content in this game. I know people really praise this game for how the classic style of Mario Party has returned faithfully, but Nintendo's attempt at making like this game has a decent amount of content outside of the Party Mode by having varied minigame modes baffles me. A tournament minigame mode has been a staple throughout most of the games and just doing different minigame modes with slightly different objectives seems very tacky and is misleading to anyone who believes there's plenty of ways to play your favorite minigames in Mt. Minigames when really it is not. Between you and me, I feel like even Super Mario Party had more mode variation when it came to how you played minigames. While I do like Mario Party Superstars a lot, this game is not perfect like everyone says it is. I put over 140 hours in the game and that was mostly because the achievements were my main drive to play the game after I had my fill of playing the boards and Mt. Minigames since the lack of modes don't offer much for me. Now that I have completed pretty much all of the achievements, I am less motivated to come back to the game, even when I have friends that are available to join me. What would fix my complaints is definitely some extra content. Perhaps some more boards and more varied minigame modes.

THANK YOU. As someone who put in literal 400 hours into the game(I’m not kidding), Mt Minigame is without a doubt the worst mode out of any MP. It tries to look out extra content, but in reality it’s completely tacky, boring, and pretty soulless of it ask me. Sports and Puzzles is clearly the worst one as clarified by the amazing rant in the video, Tag Battle, and 2-v-2 match are Bascially the “tournament” mode, but not really that at all, and Coin Battle is the most disappointing mode of all. Superstars is by no means bad, but after putting so much hours into the game and noticing the lack of content, I think the game is just okay in retrospective; definitely better than the modern MP before this, but saying it’s better than the N64 and GameCube entires is really, REALLY stretching too much.

I feel like Mario party 8 had plenty of good minigames to choose from. A lot of them could have motion controls easily swapped out for stick controls like in Paint Misbehavin’. Each Mario party game should have has at LEAST 5-6 minigames representing it. The fact that 8, regarded by many as the last good one, got only 2 is a travesty.

Mario party 10 didn't do much better with only 3 minigames. That game has even less of an excuse, because there are far more games that use button controls. I think the fact that both mario party 8 minigames are 2 vs 2 doesn't help, as that's probably the least common minigame type of the three main ones.

Great video! One problem I have with Superstars is the fact that the graphic design seems to be all over the place. Like, some of them (Like 23:36 ) look like a better looking, remade MP9 or a more vibrant SMP. Yet, some of them (Like 6:25 ) look UHD, 4K, and MODERN! Well, what I mean by that is they're trying to be almost realistic. Which, in this case, almost makes them look... Worse. It's all dull. I prefer something like 0:49 back in the Wii Era when it was sort of realistic but was clean and wasn't distracting. Though that might just be my nostalgia. That kind of Wii-Era wilderness just looks good to me. Maybe it's just the fact that I was in denial that I needed glasses when I was around 10-12 and saw everything somewhat blurry. (And also, they didn't have the technology to make the water look like oil)

Whoever gets 3 points first wins. That way would make it longer and overall more fun because it wouldnt be over in just 5 seconds.

In regards to Rocky Road, if I recall correctly from playing it, in 6 it was actually faster to jump kick as it did much more damage than just punching (I believe I tested it to make sure), and it was pretty fun as you could just beat the shit out of your teammate while breaking the rocks. If jump kicking really got nerfed for Superstars, that's a pretty big shame, but personally I found the original pretty fun.

I've learned to really look forward to Mecha Marathon after learning a technique for mashing A+B at the same time, I've managed to reach the maximum distance of 70m with it. So now my goal every game is to reach that 70 - only done it once so far, usually get 60+ every game now.

I really like Stick and Spin. I played it once. That one experience was amazing. So I was playing with my cousin, and we were doing those side minigame modes because we wanted to play all of them. We started Stick and Spin, and that was one of the most intense games I have ever played, dead serious. We went for like 20 minutes, only pausing once because we were disturbed. It was absurdly close. I lost, sadly, but damn if it wasn't one of the most intense experiences I've ever had in a game

Another issue with Dizzy Dancing. It's possible to get softlocked because of how everyone needs to move to the center so if someone is bouncing on your head when the timer hits 0 the ai that takes over when the game ends has their pathfinding break and they'll never jump onto the record making it so the game softlocks. Happened day 1 to me.

So, Match 3 games? That mostly fits the 'tetris' games more, as they do not use tetrimo, which are spefically shapes made of four pieces. Match-3 Games such as Bejeweled and Candy Crush are much more similar to the puzzle games here.
