Vampire Knives are still S tier and pretty much the best weapon in the entire game. Its lifesteal is equivalent to a Greater Healing Potion every 5 seconds, or 30 Bands of Regeneration. It's not hard at all to facetank most Master Mode bosses with it an no weapons has feats comparable to it.

The thing is they are a post plantera weapon,which puts them in such a bind viability wise. Golem is easy,lunatic cultist is easy,duke fishron and empress are optional,and I'm not sure how well vampire knives healing works on Moon Lord. I am admittedly ignorant on how effective vampire knives are against Moon Lord and if getting around moonbite is reasonable but if the answer is no,than I simply can't look at a weapon that is not good against a single boss that is 1,required and 2,hard and say it's the best weapon in the game. This isn't vampire knives fault,but the way the game is balanced and the way we look at viability post plantera weapons basically can't be the best weapon in the game,the only hard required boss left is Moon Lord,and with vampire knives I'm pretty sure not working well against Moon Lord I don't see it.

@@zacharyadams3422 I get what you're trying to say, but this approach doesn't work in practice. We'd have to penalize and rank almost every post-Plantera and post-Golem weapon outright low or mid tier at best, and then there's the fact that there are only five required bosses in total before Post-Plantera: Wall of Flesh, Mech bosses and Plantera. And then there's the fact that WoF and Plantera are trivialized & simplified by having big arenas, and Destroyer is one of the most cheesable boss in the game. So does this mean Pre-Boss, Pre-Mech, Pre-Plantera and Post-Cultist are the only relevant tiers for viability?

@@Shyguymask okay essay incoming sorry. This is kinda a big problem with tierlists as a whole. For example,try to rank piller weapons well, You could argue that since golem,cultist,and pillers are all easy,piller weapons are both easier to get and stronger than every empress of light and fishron weapon,same with the moons and martian madness,basically making it so every piller weapon is s tier and everything else is outclassed. And that argument is simultaneously basically objectively correct and dumb at the same time. But if instead you argue that piller weapons should be considered post everything but moon lord,than there's another problem,you end up saying that piller weapons are good for just one boss and then immediately outclassed,based on the way we define weapons that should make it so no piller weapons are s tier weapons. So where the heck do your rank a piller weapon?if you put phantasm in s tier,than you imply it is just as useful as something like dart rifle,which is blatantly wrong,dart rifle is one of the best destroyer weapons in the game,one of the best mechdusa weapons in the game,one of the best T2 OOA weapons in the game,one of the best general enemy weapons in the game,a great twins,skeleton prime and plantera weapon,and some other stuff,it easily has far more viable use than being good for just Moon Lord. But if you say that every piller weapon is by default at most like a a- tier weapon,as it only can have at most 1 nieche,than that's really unfair. You also can't put any piller weapon below b tier because that implys they aren't good for Moon Lord even though they all are,so do you just lump all of them in a and b tier?that's useless. I honestly think rating weapons that late in a way that is consistent with the way every other weapon is ranked is not feasible,and you should honestly make a Side thing going over moonlord meta. This all applies to vampire knives,I don't see how you can look at a weapon that is only viable for convienience against enemies,2 easy bosses,and 2 skippable bosses and say that it is just as useful as dart rifle,which is nearly or actually meta against 4 different(5 counting mechdusa) required bosses that are actually kinda hard.but If you put it in any tier but s you imply it is not a amazing weapon,which is completly wrong.

@@zacharyadams3422 I'm not sure what I'm supposed to acknowledge about most of the essay about pillars, because I'm not mainly talking about post-cultist or pillar weapons as the focus to my argument. When it comes to the pillar weapons, most people DO rank pillar weapons highly, and at the same time, a number of post-plantera and post-golem weapons are actually viable post-cultist as well like Bubble Gun, Razorblade Typhoon, Betsy's Wrath and more, to the point they compete with pillar weapons. So those are accordingly ranked high as well. I don't see the problem here. Now here's the thing as well, let's be honest... if you literally do rush Golem and Cultist with almost no preparation & upgrades from post-plant stuff, then those bosses including pillars are actually going to be a threat and could kill you (remember, both Golem and LC got buffed in 1.4.4 and Post-Plantera is a big powerspike for the player). So, if you were to only pick up one post-Plantera weapon to rush Golem, LC and pillars as fast as possible with, which one would it be? Indeed, VKs would give you by far the easiest time and it's not even close. Lastly, what you call "convenience against enemies" is in reality VKs actively making the game easy by keeping you alive with ease, which no other weapon in the tier achieve to such an extent.

Estrogen won't actually make your voice different once you've gone through a test based puberty (from everything I've read and all anecdotal experience I've heard, at least) gotta earn it

I love the leaf blade, the fact that you can technically get this pre-boss and the leaves actually go through blocks is so good, also poison was really buffed on 1.4.4. It melts enemies faster than the fire debuff. Also, the Chlorophyte Saber and Chlorophyte Partisan spore projectiles go through blocks, not many people know that. I saw a video of someone doing DPS testings between Dark Lance and Night's Edge, and even tho the Night's Edge is safer to use, the Dark Lance MELTS, the Shadowflame debuff is so good and you can even stack debuffs with a magma stone and a poison flask. I would've placed the Bananarang in S Tier, you can farm blood moons with lava and traps to get the clowns at the start of Hardmode (with bloody tears) and since it shoots 10 projectiles with almost no downtime, you almost never miss any hit. You need to try out the Shadowflame knife with the Frost Armor, Ichor Flask, and Fire Gauntlet. The amount of debuffs you can add to an enemy on 1 hit is hilarious; Plus compared to literally every other early Hardmode weapon is definitely the easiest to get and really worth getting.

I brushed off the Seedler for years and years, deeming it inferior to the (OG) Terra Blade. Recently, I finally gave it a shot in the T2 Old One's Army, and I can't put it in any better way, it was like putting a slab of butter in a microwave. I've never seen ogres die so quickly to any other weapon at that stage in progression, and this was master mode. On average, they went down perhaps in 10 to 15 seconds? Golem was an even bigger pushover than usual, as well.

I feel like the useful ness during a play through should also be taken into account. The cactus sword is an immediate upgrade to the copper! It’s super easy to get the cactus for it and with more range and damage than most early game swords it’s gotta be A for me. And I like the idea of calling a cactus bat a sword lol

Honestly, the Terra Blade can’t compete with the Flying Dragon due to it being able to target through walls. That quirk alone makes it invaluable on Getfixedboi, but Terra is still worthy enough

Personally, I think Light's Bane since it's buff deserves at least low B, it absolutely shreds everything for an early game sword, plus is easy to obtain.

I am obsessed with the starlight, its visuals are amazing, the boss to get it is an absolute blast, and I love watching every event, golem, and lunatic cultist fall to the power of facetanking with the starlight >:)

Recently started my first play through ever, I just got my nights edge reforged to legendary to prepare for WoF, wish me luck (I’m hella nervous for hard mode lol)

Man I wish for the hardmode ore swords they would have the reworks some of the swords got in labor of love. Colbalt sword can be like muramasa on crack, mythril could have the lights bane effect, Orichalcum armor set bonus has the flower petal effect going on, so why not implement that onto the sword like how the blade of grass works? Not sure about Palladium, but Adamantite and Titanium should be the fearsome boss slayers, either could be Night's Edge 2.0 before you can upgrade it to its true form.

The pearlwood sword is at least A tier in celebration seed though, if you find some suspicious water puddles in the ground there is a cloud upwards, climb it with rope and the sky islands are hallow in celebration seed. 30 base damage and faster as anything early game aside the night's edge/muramasa.

Another reason why the Cutlass sucks - you have to do the pirates, aka the worst invasion The Eye of Cthulhu is post-Plantera, not post-Golem You did the Dark Lance dirty, it can get more dps then the Night’s Edge if used right Shadowflame Knives in C? Seriously?

the nights edge can push you for longer in my experience carrying you through the early hard mode grind and the mid-late pre hard mode when I see the true variant as a good stepping stone bit not nearly as impactful with better and equally powered choices around it :3
