Luiz was our penalty taker, he wasn't as prolific as some seem to think, Tielemans is only a year older and has almost 3 times as many career goals. While Kamara is injured I suspect Onana will be the deeper of a midfield duo with Tielemans in the Luiz role. It was part of our problem after Christmas, Luiz is not a very good DM but he had to play deeper when Kamara did his ACL because he was probably the best we had in that role. We now have options, even with Kamara injured we have 3 players who'd probably play the DM role better than Luiz.

I agree Chelsea are super fragmented in our recruitment, but the club clearly don’t have faith in Raheem and Mudryk on the left - hence the signing of Neto who will be deployed in that position and is an elite young talent akin to Palmer on the right.

West Hams biggest signing is clearly Todibo. How West Ham have managed to pull him to West Ham I will never know. If he would have been chosen he would have to be up there with signing of the season when you consider the amount of goals West Ham conceded last season. I think Onana is a class signing too, he has so much presence strength and authority on the pitch you forget he's bloody 22.

Onana isn't replacing Douglas Luiz, he's replacing Kamara who's injured. Luiz will be most likely replaced by Tielemans, but maybe also Barkley or McGinn

long term i think he is replacing luiz and this is why: if you play a midfield 2, when you have European football on top of the league you can't have only 2 starters in midfield you kind of need 3 "starters", the balance last season of tielemans, luiz and kamara isn't as good balance wise as onana, tielemans and kamara. we saw this last season when kamara got injured, luiz and tielemans were not great together anyway, then luiz got injured so mginn had to play there and it was all unbalanced because he doesnt suit this type of midfield i think onana and kamara will be decent together, and we at least have someone that can defend really well no matter which one of those 3 gets injured which last season was a problem because luiz, tielemans or mcginn are not great defensively so kamara was easily the most important player until he got injured. then barkley will help with squad depth so mcginn can play his position so i think overall onana is a replacement for luiz and kamara will be just as important when he comes back in about a month, but on the pitch i think onana can do both sides of the game pretty well in a way that luiz couldn't so in theory its a massive upgrade for squad balance but that depends on how kamara is after injury and how good onana can become on the ball when under a coach like emery

Because we went in for his manager in 22 when they were top of the championship and then QPR proceeded to almost get relegated when Beale's head was turned. Now James has a vendetta against us. I remember these 2 joking that QPR were better than wolves when we just sacked Bruno Lage. We ended up with Lopetegui for the 2nd half of that season and stayed up comfortably. Rodrigo Gomes looks world class by the way in preseason. Everyone is going to be talking about him soon.
